This is my favorite episode and I still remember listening to it when I was about 8 or 9. I believe it was on a cassette and it was with my grandma and grandpa. We still honor my grandfather by sometimes listening to the old tapes and when I listen to this episode it brings back so many good memories. I’m so glad that I can rediscover this amazing episode after so long!
Call me weird but I’m only 25, and I’ve been listening to old time radio since I was like 8 or 9 Most people in my generation think I’m weird but I just love my radio shows! especially X Minus one!! Thank you for posting these!
Keep on listening, keep the medium alive. I'm 70 and have been listening all of my life. It became rare for a while, but if you searched, there was always revival type shows on AM radio. I would tape these, my kids started to like listening (mostly comedies). We adopted our grandson (9 Y/O now), he listens to Superman serials every night going to sleep, Sometimes he likes Jack Armstrong or Space Patrol. to wrap it up John, you are not at all weird.
There's many , who like the old radio shows - British , American , they're all good listening . Aqaintences , think I'm weird & not for listening to radio shows and what's locally refered to as "The Concert Program" - otherwise known as ' the dead composers society' - and other things that happen around me . So , John , you are not weird , or anything like it . Enjoy these shows , as this stuff isn't written or broadcast anymore , unless it's as an audio book - then it comes in one big chunk of listening time . Keep using your imagination , to fill in for what's missing , as I think you will be a better person for it .👍 Namaste 🙏
Isn't it lovely looking back at the comments and never seeing a nasty one and seeing ur own ones from a year ago, and others, enjoying these just terrific shows. I havnt heard anything so good but a lot of them come close.
i knew every single person mentioned in this story. :} i haven’t heard the name Slapsie Maxie Rosenblum in ages. i loved the story and i loved hearing all those names - hearing about fooling with the TV was also fun - remember the vertical, horizontal, and the snow? have a good day!!
Of all the OTR shows, this one is my favorite offerings. With only two characters (Larry Haines was one of the best radio actors) and the background music this show doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I actually read the story (of course different from the script), Leinster was a brilliant writter.
At least you listened to it. Try a couple of more times, it'll grow on you. Listen to the fantastic musical background. Don't forget, this was light hearted Sci Fi (except for Cold Equation)

You're not weird. You have good taste and a great imagination.

@@davidarundel6187 namaste? Why are you insulting a guy you just met?
I'll be 27 in February and have been listening to OTR since I was about 7, I get called a old woman specifically when I am crocheting too 😂
This episode put a big fat smile on my face 😊

Just stumbled across this and this is an absolute gem.
Best OTR show ever. Well acted (natural), Soundtrack perfect.

Back when radio was golden.
Funny as heck. Excellent.
This is a great story. And it has a happy ending.
Clever storyline! Keeps you on your toes!

The stories of Murray Leinster are a bit tough to read, so I wasn't expecting something this funny from him.
2nd listen - this is soooo funny - i just love it!
Now THAT was a good twist. Bravo!
This whimsical yarn would have made a good episode of The Outer Limits. 👽
I thought the last episode was the best but this one just "pips" it
I love Larry Haines!
He was the best, so natural. Have you ever heard the episode of The Chase "Bald Artie Bender", it was Larry's next best performance
@@patmac1134 Yes! I think it was definitely one of his best.
DAMD GOOD EPISODE
The other Sam should’ve told him he wasn’t going to marry Rosy. Then he really would’ve been lucky.
Yeah, between her voice and the nagging, yuck!
A bit of 'insider trading' ? From a future version of self ?🤔🙂👍
Those "gun shots" , sounded so "real" ? ? ?🤔😄
Yo Sam can't get a break with the girl ctfu
❤
Yhis eas hilarious..
Sam and Rosy are really stupid, but that makes it fun.
In my opinion, this is without a doubt the STUPIDEST Story( OTR, Golden Age of Radio , FICTIONAL Story) in the History of World.

It's not as stupid as many tv shows these days .
