Hey Patrick my friend, Like you, I don't believe that you can find a more beautiful wood than "Blue Pine" Your doing an amazing job pard, it looks so good. Sincerely, the old Montana cowboy, Frank Scherping❤😊
Hi Patrick 👋 Good to be back on the job site with you! Gee, I was held spell bound on the sanding! 😴 But all in all I had a good time helping out as much as can. The results of the staining made all of the endless sanding really pay off… looks great!! Thanks for the video of that Moose 👍 See you next week for the floor. Take care of yourself Patrick.
Greetings once again from Rancho de Vegas. Patrick I have also said the best thing about sanding is watching someone else do it. I got tired just watching you. Thanks for enduring the pain and agony. As usual, loving the post. Best part of Fridays.
Making the header trim wider than the sill trim and side trim......Very good choice. I really like that look. Little things make a difference in the over all look.
Houston here. I love how the window and door trim look. The logs you cut for this worked out very nicely. The oil really brings out the colors, too. I must say, the sanding was very calming, and "TH-cam" took that away from us... lol ... I suppose the fire is pretty calming too, I guess that'll have to do since we don't want you getting fussed at.
Beautiful Wood...just bearutiful. Have I ever mentioned how much I lov wood. There is a pile in my driveway right now waiting for me to quit watching this and go work with it. I am building a lil Garden office.
I really like that wider top piece on all of the frames. It makes a nice accent. You seem like the type of person that even if you had more money than time, you would still do it yourself.
Boy do I feel silly. I kept waiting for your moose merch commercial and then at the end I realized.....nice touch. The window trim add a lot to the beauty of the interior. Thanks for the tip on how to re-purpose warped boards. Seems like common sense, but I would not have thought to recut the rough side. I'm waiting with bated breath for the outdoor kitchen build, but you decide which project we do next. I'll be there with my tools and surprise lunch waiting to help in any way I can all while removing this weeks splinters from my hands. Tell Karen that we don't mind sharing the owner ship with her. A couple of years ago I built a gazebo in my son's yard. I precut and painted all the lumber. I also precut the metal for the roof. It is amazing how fast the assembly goes when you take the initial time for the preparation. See ya next week.
Good to see you! Thanks for the comments. Yeah batch-cutting speeds it up for sure. We’ll get to that ‘kitchen’ eventually. My ‘have-yet-to-do’ list seems to be growing, tho!
As good as your cutting and sanding skills are, and don’t get me wrong, you are skillful, the best part of this video, for me, was the outdoor nature and wildlife videography. Well done Patrick! You break up the labor with these beautiful interludes…to remind us why we can’t help but come back. We all need some land up in the mountains, with a ridge or two to build a getaway cabin on. Or a guest house, for the inevitable visitors. Do those with certain skillsets get preferential dates? Did I mention that both of my grandfathers were carpenters and cabinet makers?
Oh thank you! The nature and wildlife is my favorite, so why not share? Glad you enjoy. Sounds like your lineage deserves preferential treatment, indeed. Thanks for being here!
Patrick, 2 things… 1. The sanding - think Doobie Bros (What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits) and make a vise your habit. That freehand work, watching the boards wobble all over the place, would be so much easier using a heavy vise to stabilise the timber. 2. One of my best ever investments was a Festool track saw. No need for the string line and a hand-guided cut. Dead straight cuts every time! I like the colour variety on those boards. Comes up really well with my favourite oil. 😊
Both good ideas! I considered the clamps, but decided for 70 ish pieces of wood, I would spend too much time dealing with clamping. That oil is perhaps my favorite, too!
Love the way the wood looked after you painted it just beautiful ❤the windows came out amazing and the view from all the windows are amazing as well you sure know your stuff my friend❣️❣️❣️And your chili looks delicious I make all the time 😋 yum and that moose that was awesome to see😊until your next video stay safe stay healthy and like always god bless and looking forward to your next videos 🙏❤️✌🏼
Excuse me sir I’d like to give my two cents on the commentary Ive listened and watched the whole series thus far while working on the computer and I enjoy how you explain stuff and your commentary. Ive been missing a lot lately when it’s typed up but I think that’s an adhd thing 😂. Thank you for the amazing videos!
The windows are fantastic, Patrick. About sanding, I don't like to do it by myself either. LOL... Anyway, the video was fantastic as usual. 😊 And the nature around is marvellous too. 😉
That is some beautiful trim work, Patrick! The colors in that wood are gorgeous. You'll have a mighty-fine spur cabin quite soon. That outdoor kitchen build is going to be extremely interesting as well - can't wait to see that. I've been wondering about power. You've wired the cabin for lights, however either I've missed any work on solar panels, or you haven't gotten to doing that yet. I'm doubtful that you're going to trench a power line all the way to the cabin, so solar has to be in your future somewhere. Please continue posting, 'cause I gotta keep watching!
love it. 25 years ago i and my son and our friend bought 20 acres in Twin Creek above Tunk Valley (if not mistaken not far from you) and we did blue stain pine in our 24 x 24 cabin. did not oil or seal. now after years of cooking bacon and venison and wood stove heat and smoke the patina is awesome. less effort than you. LOL
After watching this episode was thinking about what I like and dislike but couldn't find anything I didn`t like in fact I have enjoyed every episode since finding your channel . I do however have a couple of suggestions that would make life a whole lot easier. First a set of folding sawhorses a splitter on the table saw (to prevent kick back). You can attach a straight edge to a board to run along the fence and that will transfer a good edge to your work. Not trying to be the safety police just hate for a friend to be injured . Oh yeah around here we call the blue pine denim pine .
Ooooo, those windows look real nice! I am going to strip my whole deck of paint since mother nature already has a start on it. By comparison am kind of enjoying your sanding.
i watch all your videos, they are great. i love the attitude, as i have said before, " i wish you could have worked for me"!. anyway i keep forgetting to ask you a couple of questions, first why you use that left handed circular saw? and second which weekend did you want me to come over and stay in the cabin????
Thank you for watching the videos! That’s awesome. It’s hard not to have a good attitude around here. A1) I don’t know! I think I had to buy one 30+ years ago and it was left handed, and used the same ever since. A2) I’ll check the calendar! 🙏
You thru with that sawmill yet? Bring on down to Brewton, Alabama,,you can stay in my Airbnb and fish in the river and go to the beach....Course you gotta run the sawmill also. lov ya ,,say hello to your wife.
Life on the moose, featuring... an actual moose! I like it. Things are coming along nicely with this off grid cabin!
Thank you! 🙏
And that Ladies and Gentlemen is how you condense a whole bunch of hard work into a pleasurable viewing experience.
You’re kind! Thank you. 🙏
Hey Patrick my friend,
Like you, I don't believe that you can find a more beautiful wood than "Blue Pine"
Your doing an amazing job pard, it looks so good. Sincerely, the old Montana cowboy,

That means a lot! I really appreciate it. 🙏
The piece over the rear window… Van Gogh!
Hey,,,to all of you folks that are here . Love and Peace to you all..Alright we gettin this cabin close to movin in. lov from South Alabama
I'm going to say that people who don't like to watch sanding have no grit.
Another good one! 😂
🤣
Glad to see you wearing PPE. You’ll be needing those eyes and ears to build more cabins and outbuildings! 👍
Indeed!
Hi Patrick 👋

Hey good to have you. Spell-bound for sure! Thank you. 🙏
6:23 Sandbidextrious! very impressive!
Yeah, with every video, cabin gets closer to completion! 👍
Excellent and entertaining video, as always!
Nice to see moose in guests! 😂
Yes! Thank you. 🙏
Greetings once again from Rancho de Vegas. Patrick I have also said the best thing about sanding is watching someone else do it. I got tired just watching you. Thanks for enduring the pain and agony. As usual, loving the post. Best part of Fridays.
Hey that’s so kind! I’ll endure that pain and agony any time. 🙏
Patrick, you do some fine work. I enjoy watching each episode.
Thank you so much! It just looks like fine work from your angle. 🤣🙏
Sure love the cabin!
Making the header trim wider than the sill trim and side trim......Very good choice. I really like that look. Little things make a difference in the over all look.
Thanks! It was a last second decision.
Houston here. I love how the window and door trim look. The logs you cut for this worked out very nicely. The oil really brings out the colors, too. Maybe some Moose chili might be next?? or Mule deer chili ?? Stain the front decking ??
Ha not sure about that! The hunting tags are hard to come by here. And the deck is in the list!
Sanding diversion - LOL! Great work as always Patrick! The wood turned out great!
Thank you!
I had to do something..
Beautiful Wood...just bearutiful. Have I ever mentioned how much I lov wood. There is a pile in my driveway right now waiting for me to quit watching this and go work with it. I am building a lil Garden office.
Ah great idea! Let me know how it goes.
It is really looking fantastic!!!
Thanks! Coming along..
That wood looks awesome. I wish I could find that kind of character Herr in Canada.
Just find burnt pine!
I really like that wider top piece on all of the frames. It makes a nice accent. You seem like the type of person that even if you had more money than time, you would still do it yourself.
Thanks! A last-second call.
You know, after watching the video back, you’re right…I probably would. 🙏
The trim looks awesome

Sanding, the only thing you can do all day long and the only difference you see is dust! But it does feel smoother. Great video
True! Thank you. 🙏

Watching you oil the cut boards was like opening Christmas presents...you never knew what you were gonna get before the oil...
Yes! I thought the same.
Nothing fancy in this cabin but we can have a cup of tea when you are done!
Indeed!
Everything looking good
Looks great, Sir!
Thank you!

Again, I like the way you do it YOUR way. All good suggestions, but still....your way! Thanks again for your efforts.
Really Really turning out nice ... !!
Thanks so much! 🙏
Before seeing what you are having for lunch, I would guess chili.
Good guess!
You always say "Safety first"? I think mine is, "I could eat."
Thanks for thaking us along

Indeed! Thank you! 🙏
Bought your hoodie to help support your channel. It is a really good quality hoodie! Everyone needs one! Can't wait to see what you build next!
Hey thanks so much! That means a lot. 🙏
I agree with you about the hoodie!

Hey thank you so much! I’m no expert on anything, just trying to share what I do know, and why I do what I do. I appreciate you being here!🙏
Thank you for another wonderfully entertaining video! We love your sense of humor. Keep up the great work!
Ah thank YOU for watching! 🙏
The trim looks great! Nice job! I enjoy that you show a lot of scenery around your beautiful property.
Thank you! I’m happy to share this scenery. 🙏
The moose is on the loose! Lots of fun watching you and hearing your commentary! Need to get me some merch.
Ha thank you so much! 🙏
Beautiful! Nothing better than wild wood!
I agree! 🙏
Looking really nice! Looking forward to the outdoor kitchen. See you next week.
Thank you! I have to come up with a plan!
The windows are fantastic, Patrick. About sanding, I don't like to do it by myself either. LOL...
Anyway, the video was fantastic as usual. 😊 And the nature around is marvellous too. 😉
I appreciate that! Does anyone really like sanding? It’s better than the dentist, that’s for sure!
@@LifeontheMoose I totally agree... LOL
Worm holes are the hardest thing to simulate when making boards look old....
I bet they are! No pattern that I can discern.
How about some sanding tricks! Behind the back sanding…blindfold sanding…sanding underwater!!!
Hmm…

Power episode coming up!
@@LifeontheMoose I'll watch it!
The blue looking pine does look great
Thanks I think so, too.
Ahh yes, we’ve looked at a place there many years ago.
That sounds like a better way to oil a ceiling!
Well done remembering the Scottish Skelf Patrick 😂
Thanks! I had to double check after I shot that scene.
You are one fast Stainer!

Denim pine…an apt name! I appreciate the suggestions. And you watching! 🙏
Patrick, A 2x4 stretcher would have worked too! Another nice and interesting video.
True! I need one of those. 🙏
Just love your show. Thanks for taking the time to share.
Gosh thanks so much! I love that you watch it.
I change my my mind, paint the wall green from the floor to 8ft
👍🏻
Ooooo, those windows look real nice!
I am going to strip my whole deck of paint since mother nature already has a start on it. By comparison am kind of enjoying your sanding.
Ouch! Stripping paint isn’t on top of my love-to-do list!
Love it the blue and the worm holes look awesome
I agree! 🙏
Patrick you take care and be safe. Back at you, just got my moose merch thanks
Hey fantastic! Thank you 🙏
you should really get some feather boards for the table saw to hold the boards tight to the deck and fence
I need a new table saw!
👍👍
The camera can't be doing the wood grains and colors justice after you coated them real good. 😮
It’s not! Seems it’s always a bit better in real life. Thanks for watching!
Great Job guys!!!!
MOOSE APPOVED
👍🏻
LOOKING FANTASTIC!
Thanks!
Love the progress! Looks awesome. Keep up the good work. I love watching your videos!
Hey thank you so much! I appreciate you watching. 🙏
Was that a Brahma Bull Moose, looked like quite a hump. Great wildlife and scenery, my eyes are full of dust though.
Mine too! Yeah the old hump is a dead giveaway. Thank you! 🙏
Used to have a fire pit when we lived in Northern Minnesota on a lake now live in Wyoming black hills , way to dry here for a fire pit
Yeah we have a fairly short window here to enjoy an outdoor fire, too.
Coffee first.....
Always!
Moose chili is that a thing?
Definitely a thing!
It is! A moose tag is a very difficult tag to draw around here, tho.
beautiful wood ty
Thank YOU!
A+ Getting Close (!!)

A2) I’ll check the calendar!

Looks great
Thank you!
5:28 Even in the Netherlands (a country known for debate) it is splinter...
Good to know!
This episode was a lot of work with preparation.
It was! I appreciate you recognizing that. And watching it!
Do you have many bear near the Red Moose Ranch?
Some. One was sighted on my neighbor’s property last fall, and several on the Ranch a few years back.
Are moose like deer, in that the males are the ones with antlers?
Yes!
❤❤❤
