    “The beautiful pipe in all it’s holiness” is one of the best puns I have ever heard-that cracked me up!

    Nice project! =)
    A old trick to make a hose fit the barb is to put the end of the tube in your mouth and chew on it vigorously until it gets warm.
    Now the tube will fit the barb. If not chew on it a little more.
    Cheers. =)

    How do you add the speaker to the end of the tube? I'm using your video to make a Ruben's Tube for a school project.

    • @doyouevenscience
      @doyouevenscience  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Abraham Rittenhouse hey, thanks for watching. The speaker is simply placed in front of the diaphragm but not touching it. I used an old TV speaker mounted on a wooden block to hold it in place.

    How does the propane or methane run through the pipe?

    Very nice instructions. In your opinion, would square tube stock work just as well?

    Is the green seal a regular balloon? Isn't that dangerous? Can the balloon withstand the heat and pressure inside the pipe?

    • @doyouevenscience
      @doyouevenscience  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, regular balloon, and no, not dangerous. The gas pressure is slightly above ambient, just enough to make the flames small. As for heat, that is the reason the holes start a little in from the end. The pipe will eventually get very hot, but generally will run for over an hour without melting the balloon. If the balloon does come off, the pipe is void of oxygen, so won't explode, just end up with a large flame that is easy to smother with a wet cloth.

    Wait, how do you light it??? If you light it, wouldnt the gas container blow ub?

  • @jimbobentley
    @jimbobentley 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have you tried putting the gas supply the opposite side of the tube? So flames on top and supply on the bottom of the tube? Would this be better or worse? Tried again tonight with mine, certain I need a larger diameter tube for it to work as well as yours does. New ballon really tight, hooked up a regulating valve to control flow and used a house stereo. Tiny bit better but still not good enough.. Gonna get another bigger tube and try again me thinks! :)

    Its important tube size, or it is possible to make it with longer and thinner tube?

  • @FLSowner

    how did you connect to the gas? what connector and how are you regulating pressure?

    I have butane gas.... will it work??? and also the speaker can it be directly placed in the tube without the ballon??? also does epoxy will work as glue?

    • @adarshshamloll2367
      @adarshshamloll2367 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks.. But will the ballon melt with the heat of the butane??? What kind of glue do you advice me to use beside what you used in yours, will soldering work?

      @adarshshamloll2367 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Do You Even Science‽ Thanks... I will definitely use the ballon as you suggested, it could be explosive also can you tell me the dimensions of the holes and the distances of each hole and also the type of glue you used? im doing this as a visualizer for my school project where I'm making a music system box, a.k.a boom box thats why I'm asking you some tips and advices...

    Hi, is the amp necessary for the Ruben's tube to work because I don't think I can afford an amp. But perhaps you could send the link for the amp you bought on e-bay?

    • @hanatarourahara665
      @hanatarourahara665 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you know if it would work without an amplifier? It says the product will come in three weeks to a month but my project is due Dec. 10

      Including the amplifier, around 75 Australian dollars. A lot of items like speakers and the stand in was later placed on where scrap I had laying around.

    Hi, what kind of gas bottle did you use? Because we have a big one for the bbq but my dad's saying I can't use it because it could blow up. Could this actually happen?

    • @doyouevenscience
      @doyouevenscience  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Brenna Hobson, thanks for the comment. The gas from a BBQ will work but will run hotter (Propane). Your dad is correct in saying it 'could' blow up. But it is what I used in the above video, but with a regulator to ensure it was low enough pressure. the direct pressure from a gas bottle would be much too high and could cause issues and a fire. While an explosion is possible, if done correctly there shouldn't much of a risk.

    awesome video! noticed you might want to put a pop filter on your mic though. these can be easy to make yourself with some fine nylon mesh and a ring of some kind to suspend in front of your mic.

    Hello, great video. I've made my own Rubens tube from your video, not to exact specs. It's working ok but not much sound response...? I didn't know if you could help in finding why? Possibly the tube isn't big enough diameter? I used a ballon cut in half as the end skin. Anyhow here's the link to my video. Any help would be much appreciated... Thanks for your upload, great tube dude! :)

    Hey, I responded on to you on my video, but ill answer the questions from.this post here 👌 the length is little over three metre's, just a guestimate as in still in bed ATM.. Lol and probably only about 40mm/50mm internal diameter, my holes and spacing is what you had, 2.5mm holes 20mm apart 👍

    Is their any possibility of the fire flaming and therefore exploding inside the pipe or the gas tank?

    • @doyouevenscience
      @doyouevenscience  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      generally not, the flames won't pass the small holes, similar to a principal of the miners lamp. The gas tank should always have a regulator for safety. The only chance of an explosion is if the diaphragm breaks and the flame enters the tube, but its generally just a large flame, not an explosion, as there is not enough oxygen present inside.

    • @ElektroSRB
      @ElektroSRB 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Do You Even Science‽ just add one more inner tube that can be moved inside and attach speaker to end. Like bass reflex tubes that can be adjusted. Than you can easily do it.
