Congratulations 🥳. Thank you for the insightful sharing. SA police clearances have been taking long. I think nowadays its ideal to even apply 6 months before you need one. I applied in Nov 2022, got it mid-March 2023.

Something like my mom won the case over my custody as a kid and she also changed my last name, now he is back and he want to sponsor me to study there, what should I do and does it risk anything, is only a DNA test going to help

My little suggestion: all you need to do is to show ties with your father. First, you will need to present the court documents granting your custody to your mum. This is because, it will bear both your father's and mother's full names. Also, it will state that he is your father. Secondly, you will need the documents your mum used for your change of name. This is because, that document states your former names and the new names. Usually, if an adult does change of name, there should also be a newspaper publication attesting to it. I wish you the best of luck.
