  • The landscape - a matrix for biodiversity
    (French, sub-titles in English)
    by Sébastien Giorgis
(Architect DPLG / Urban planner SFU / Member of the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee - Cultural Landscapes)
Landscape architecture and land-use planning play a fundamental role in the hierarchies and organisations of the animal and plant world, and therefore have a direct impact on the biodiversity present in a given area.
It is all the more astonishing that, with very few exceptions, these two concepts are largely absent from the sustainable development strategies of the wine world - a world that defines itself through a territory and can only exist thanks to it.
Sébastien Giorgis gives us a fascinating overview of the concept of landscape, which throughout history has proved to be an indispensable tool for the flourishing of biodiversity and the preservation of civilisations - whether wine-growing or not.
Colloque Vignoble & Biodiversité #1 -Tomorrow's viticulture starts today
    12 & 13 May 2022 - Avignon (Palais des Papes)
This series of lectures, a link between science and the field, offers a genuine overview of the issues surrounding biodiversity, going well beyond both the boundaries of land registry and the strict framework of viticulture in general.
Conceived as an open, multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary dialogue dedicated to the wine-growing world, the aim is to share knowledge, highlight and pool practical and scientific experience, break down barriers and create a virtuous dynamic in which biodiversity becomes a collective goal rather than an individual mission.
