I fully agree with you about Rimes. In fact I prefer her version over The Righteous Brother's more popular version. She sings like Linda Ronstadt (e.g. "Long, Long Time"). Or Amanda Marshall (e.g. "If I Didn't Have You"). Or Alannah Myles (e.g. "Break The Silence"). Or Berlin (e.g. "Take My Breath Away"). But I'm viewing this video in Aug 2024 and I notice that there is no "Thumbs Down" on it. I have a Firefox Add on that allows me to view "Thumbs Down" on any Video. But perhaps TH-cam removed the Thumbs Down numbers 2 years ago? My only complaint is that this song does not appear of any of Rime's main Records but only on her 1997 Compilation record.
The fact that she is 14 years old and is performing one of the most difficult song to sing properly live without any apparent effort and so amazingly well is mindboggling. Technically perfect -- but the true magic of this performance is that she so clearly enjoyed what she was doing and in putting her whole heart and soul into singing -- while still smiling at and 'flirting' with the little kids in the audience. Great backup musicians as well.
I find myself coming back to watch this over and over since the first time I seen it. There's so much to be interpreted here that goes beyond her ridiculously talented vocals. At 14 years old LeAnne was already a star. She has been in and out of studios her entire childhood and pretty much doubled as a working adult when she wasn't just trying to be a kid. That's when the significance of it being at Disney World hits me because if u think about it she's there performing this "gig" as an adult and you can tell by the way she sings this she has had experience with the yearning for love even at this incredibly young age. However I'm sure there's also a part of her that's like "wow this is freaking Disney World!" She probably also wanted to go explore and immerse herself in this incredible place for kids. I know because I was 12 when my family took us and it was such a magical experience for a kid. It would have been around the same time too as she is only slightly older than me. The contrast of feelings for her between her adult self and child self here at this place must have been so overwhelming. If I ever got the chance to ask LeAnn a question it would certainly be how she was feeling at this moment. I wonder if she has ever spoken about it in any interviews.
