You wanna have nicely parted frames but what really makes it smooth is tweening. It adds 3 subframes in between each frame which creates a full motion.
it is good to see in your first animations you were practicing then when you felt as though you were ready you started doing more complex projects, it's probably the best way to learn animation
Your first animation isn’t even that bad I mean look at my first animation all it is is a stick figure falling from the sky and waving your really talented keep up the good work :)
I could definitely see your improvement i dont use tweening i do10 fps i know that sounds bad but for me its actually smoother than i thought i have some animations you might like in my channel look forward into becoming a good animator
