He brought up the name 'emily' when he and Rachel were deciding names for Emma. But for some reason that was normal and also Rachel's sister called Emma 'Emily' and Ross and Rachel weren't phased by the name yet again.
One of the few times I actually understood the Rachel character. Ross had all of those plans, which would be nice, HOWEVER, Rachel had left her fiance at the altar because he had planned her life as well. She wanted to make plans too, but felt left out with no say in the matter (she had a dominating father too!)
She is a spoiled brat. Those are just excuses, rationalizations. Truth is she got scared which Ross immediately understood. Why was she scared? Because she has commitment issues.
I don’t think it’s dominating. I think it’s just him knowing what he wants in a relationship. Also he’s already got 1 kid. also he’s already got 1 kid it makes sense that with relationships he thinks long term rather than just “seeing where things go”
@@darren_myatt I'm little late on this conversation but I think that some of these stories were based on the actors' real life experiences. Like Courtney Cox says that in real life she is a lot like her Monica character and she is also a neat freak and is really organized. Jennifer Anniston has said that when she was growing up/young teen would be excused from the table because her parents felt she had nothing smart to say. Or nothing good to contribute to the conversation. And that her father in real life was dominating and her mother even would often criticize her. And her father too I think. They didn't like the way she dressed, her nose was too big, her eyes too squinted, they complained about her hair. {That's what I read anyway} so if these things are true Why is it that she changed her looks so much from a young woman to now? And it wasn't till this past week that I found out she was half Greek half Italian. I always thought she was pretty much all white. So no I don't think her Rachel character was a spoiled brat. In my opinion that’s the whole idea as to why she was upset with Ross with the whole break thing happened as well. She just came from a controlling father, and Barry and she just wanted independence like you said.
Ross needed to give Rachel time to catch up here. He had been in love with her since they were kids, but Rachel was in love with him for more like 6 weeks. I don’t blame her for freaking out.
Didn't Rachels Sister called Emma Emily? And the one time, she said Emma, Rachel was totally moved and said "you said Emma" and her said "Oh, I'm sorry, Emily." Or was it another name with an E?
3:40 when Ross says " we're not done!" And Rachel responds with "I did not know that" and turns to face him, I liked that :) communication and both equals. Can't find much of that around our century 😅
Also the small window above her door was open while Rachel and Ross had their big fight. Yet somehow they didn't hear all 4 of their other friends talking in that room.
+TheEtherny Well it depends. I once went to visit a friend who had just gotten a baby. I went with my (now ex) boyfriend. I told him, while driving there, that I didn't want him to start about birthgiving or motivate her to tell the stories. (Because her mom, she was 16, had mentioned everything was ripped apart and it had been hell) So he promised not to say anything, we went there, we talked a bit about the baby, but ríght before he left, my ex felt it was necessary to rub my belly and say out loud; 'Well...maybe..in a few years..we will have a little baby too..wouldn't that be wonderfull?' Afterwards he told me it was "just a joke", but his mom didn't take it that way and hid my birthcontroll twice, hoping I'd get pregnant. So I can imagine what Rachel thinks 100% and I think what Ross says is creepy as hell. He's thinking about the endresult, not what Rachel will go trough. Same as my ex-mother in law, who thought of me as a babyfactory.

Ross and Rachel knew each other for a long time, not just few weeks, as Monica said in 1st season for Ross and Rachel it's like starting on the 15th date because "the best part is you already know everything about him". Monica's words. I think some women just don't like Ross, if it was some Brad Pitt or Henry Cavill they wouldn't be so freak out. One word. Double standarts. It doesn't matter how long you're in a relationship, for example you may date for 3 years and then breakup so by your logic any man should NEVER have any plans.
This is what I called as cultural influenced perspective. When you say "crazy" to when someone wanted to marry someone by only knowing them for awhile (though it wasnt true in Ross&Rachel case, cause Ross knew Rachel since she was still in highschool) - you'll be surprise how your opinion would also be called "crazy" by ppl in east, part of africa, moslem, etc. There, the cultural didnt encourage ppl to go in relationship and sleeping (to have sex) outside legal commitment (marriage). It is more advisable/correct/normative/sanity for a man to have financial foundation to build a marriage and already bring that when starting the relationship. Women feel more secure to have a man who start a relationship with them knowing that the man is actually serious and have a plan for future since beginning. Other comment stating "psycho" - again that is not scientific judgement. It is a popular remark, perhaps. "In the beholder eyes" sort of. Ross is a bit geeky type, serious and a bit obsessive compulsive (the same like monica) - doesnt mean that such character could be diagnosed as 'disorder'. The chararacter differences are normal, happen to any relationship/couple - hence to have a deep foundation of love and commitment are needed to make it work - not the time-length, nor the frequency of the meeting.
I love this scene!! Classic. Ross and Rachel belonged together & their kisses, and chemistry were insanely hot. The two songs that define them on the show are 'Wicked Game' and 'With or Without You' for a reason! Truth is, they played the nuanced and complex characters, and most realistic couple on the show, with pure brilliance! That's why you see most comments& disputes under videos with them, no other couple on the show. So the irony is, the writers and actors did a great job because fans literally passionately care about this couple 25 years later!! 😂 I find most comments and analyses about them very black&white and over-simplistic. And 'toxic' is a word thrown around too often nowadays, without any deeper thought. Both Ross and Rachel were right, and both were wrong, just as it is in life. They perfectly portray young, passionate love which learns along the way. What I adore about them, is the scenes of pure love between them, like here, which clearly demonstrated that they never stopped loving each other, they just had to mature, both in different ways. One such scene is when Rachel gives birth to Emma, and when the doctor asked her what the name of the baby is going to be, Rachel objects to the suggestion of just Green alone and says Geller Green, In the same scene, Ross didn't object to their daughter being called just Green. His only concern was Rachel and the baby and it took him by complete surprise to see Rachel correct the doctor. This is a moment of pure selflessness from both of them. They bickered about many things and contradicted each other but in moments that defined them by true love and care, they were true to each other. They just had to mature and learn to communicate better in order to move from the bad part of their incompatibility. For me they were the best, the most complex, the most beautiful and hot couple on the show, that's why I love them!! No one comes close to them! When they were in peace, there was magic and a level of chemistry and hotness no other couple on this show had, just like here. And when they were fighting there was still an emotional level no other pairing on this show provoked. That tells you all you need to know, but you have to see nuances, not generalizations.
I can't believe that there are still people who think that Monica and Chandler were better just because they didn't argue so often. When it has been scientifically proven that adrenaline in a relationship is what makes it last
See, this was the fundamental problem with the Ross/Rachel relationship, and one that the show avoided with Monica/Chandler by actually letting *their* relationship develop naturally. Monica and Chandler grew into their deep, lasting love, but with Ross and Rachel, it's like the show's creators were saying, "Their love is a great love right from the beginning because WE SAY IT IS." Also, both the characters of Ross and Rachel tended to be very controlling of the other, and in this portion, it's Ross doing the controlling. He's not even considering what Rachel might want out of life, and that's not fair. And yes, Chandler later tells Monica about the life he's imagined them having together, but he does that after they're engaged, not dating for only a few weeks! His manner is also completely different; Chandler talks like he's imagining a happy dream while Ross sounds like he's giving Rachel orders.
^THIS! Plus it doesn't help that Ross & Rachel are both seriously flawed people and not in a good way. Yet they somehow (for some inexplicable reason) became *THE* TV couple of the 90s. And it wasn't "a great love". It was a freakish obsession for both of them. Mondler all the way.
@@zbr76 😂😂😂😂,Mondler? The producers made Mondler too perfect to be real, and at the same time Chandler becomes Mónica's puppet, and also his character is less funnier. ( Chandler is the funniest character from season 1_4). Mónica becomes even more controlling, and sometimes manipulative. roschel is the same, but too complicated to be realistic. And by the way, both of you are talking like Ross and Rachel only meet for like 6 weeks, they know each other long time ago
"both of you are talking like Ross and Rachel only meet for like 6 weeks, they know each other long time ago" Yes, but when Ross starting informing Rachel of what *he'd* selfishly planned for *her* life, they'd only been together as a romantic couple for a few weeks. They knew each other, but were not together.
I am surprise to read this type of comment whilst in real life, plenty women desperately urging their men to marry them, atleast to be totally committed to them. It wasn't the fundamental problem of Ross & Rachel as to what you were implying. To my subjective opinion, this is a common problem when one of the couple feeling insecure and immature. Ross at this point at diff state than Rachel (also diff perspective). He is the marrying kind. He didnt just want to build a relationship out of thin air. He is committed all the way. Rachel at this state, wasnt ready. N for that, they have to get through it. I do agree that Monica&Chandler is a cool couple. But they didnt have the same chemistry or passion as to RR (which was palpable through out the season) . The high intensity between 2 ppl in relationship is the toughest to deal with, but promised more growth. It will take longer time to come for agreement or settlement yet it worthy at the end. This is what happened to RR. At the end, the writer wanted to show, that love conquer everything - the universe forced them over and over to be together whilst settling all the ego, immaturity & differences.
It is so amazing to me how i correctly guessed that op was a female without even reading the name, friends is infact the most polarising thing when it comes to gender!
Keep the parents at bay at all times unless you need them to come over to babysit your own kids (when you are going partying) Aww. Whatta nice guy! #Rossgeller #theniceguy
I can see Rachel's point here -- Ross is being very controlling and presumptuous. Though I was glad they were together by the show's end, it made perfect sense they broke up multiple times, especially the 1st time. Ross had so many fantasies about Rachel for so long, she was supposed to just step into them and be what *he* wanted.
He is not controlling. He is just curious. If Rachel wouldn't have agreed to any of his things he wouldn't force he's sensitive emotional intense but not controlling.
Right?! Especially telling her they're gonna have babies together. Like you don't know if she wants to put her body through that! And it's not your body to decide, Ross.

lmao every time i watch this scene, i try to focus on what’s happening, but i end up thinking about how fast she’d probably get fired if she just walked out of work like that in real life😂
Ross was definitely way overhead of himself. It is okay to think of what the future might be like, but Rachel was right that Ross went a bit too far by thinking of the 20 next years. He never even spoke about this stuff with her before. I used to be friends with someone who would over think this sort of stuff. He had a crush on someone and told me everything he was planning for the wedding. He was literally saving his money already and sent me pictures of what kind of table cloth and decorations he should have for the wedding. He was even asking what job should I have at the wedding because everyone in our friend group should have one. The thing is my friend wasn't even dating his crush yet. He didn't even tell the person yet he had feelings for the person. He said he was literally planning the wedding specifically for that specific person and designing it for that person. I kept telling him he shouldn't get ahead of himself because he doesn't know if his crush will have romantic feelings in return. My other friends agreed that this guy was going to far. We were comparing him to Tracy in "Hairspray" with the song "I Can Hear the Bells". And of course, when he finally revealed his feelings to his crush, the person said they didn't feel the same way and only viewed their friendship as platonic. This is what happens when someone decides to plans stuff without discussing with the other person. You can't just expect their going to feel the same way.
Phoebe learned through the gang watching "Old Yeller" that her Mom stopped heartbreaking movies right before the end to protect the twins. Phoebe was so distraught that Monica recommended her seeing "It's a Wonderful Life". Of course, that movie had the opposite effect since it was depressing right up until the end. Phoebe was so depressed, she turned it off before it got to the uplifting part. So she was mad because she thought Monica was deceiving her.
Ross predicted his future daughter's name (sort of). At 3:12 he said he likes the name Emily for baby daughter. He and Rachel call their daughter Emma (a name Monica had originally planned giving to her own daughter since she was 14), but Amy (Rachel's sister) mistakenly refers to Emma as Emily, leading to Rachel making the same mistake.
Ross and Rachel will always be the ultimate couple for me..whatever they do, howvever many fights they have, they always end up back with each other, and i love it

"both of you are talking like Ross and Rachel only meet for like 6 weeks, they know each other long time ago"
Yes, but when Ross starting informing Rachel of what *he'd* selfishly planned for *her* life, they'd only been together as a romantic couple for a few weeks.
Oh I wish Gunther would've heard the conversation between them at the coffee shop
Keep the parents at bay at all times unless you need them to come over to babysit your own kids (when you are going partying)
Aww. Whatta nice guy! #Rossgeller #theniceguy
How thrilling is that when you say love you in b/w a heated argument.
@@nikhilsanade9175 he didn’t let her have a damn friend who was a guy. (Mark) so yes, he was very controlling like most guys are.
Exactly. He couldn't just let their journey unfold naturally.
Ross got what he wanted. He and Rachel had a baby girl = Emma.
I'd totally freak out if a guy I'm going out with has all of that planned out, he didn't even ask Rachel what she wanted to do. 😒🙄
Right?! Especially telling her they're gonna have babies together. Like you don't know if she wants to put her body through that! And it's not your body to decide, Ross.
@@nikhilsanade9175 When did he ask her opinion? He just went on and on without any input whatsoever from her.
ross was pretty much right about everything, they were gonna have a girl together and name her Emily(Emma). so weird.
Zoom meeting at work at home by a few days ago 😔😔 and a great 👍👍 I think it's the same day I Have been a great way for you and your kids are you guys ❤️
Wow when this video was uploaded I was like what 4 or 5😂
It's amazing how friends is well known among my generation too and will be in next generations
I finally found the full clip! Thanks!
Wow, the end of this clip may actually be the most romantic Ross/Rachel scene there was. I had completely forgotten about it.
lmao every time i watch this scene, i try to focus on what’s happening, but i end up thinking about how fast she’d probably get fired if she just walked out of work like that in real life😂
Me too 😂
''im sure you'll feel different when its our baby'' well it was different and they raised little Emma
I'm sorry, I had to leave. He was freaking me out.
3:52 cuz he knows we are gonna end up together ,, Awwww 💕💕💕💕
0:42 "This IS how I would hold a football!" As someone who's never been into sports, this line is such a mood 😂
"WELL YOU BETTER!" i lol'd so hard i had to replay the kiss.
Ross was right! The girl came first
Such a sweet couple!
How could he give grief to Monica and Chandler about moving to Westchester when he wanted to move to Scarsdale?! lol
cause he would miss them
Rachel: uugghhhh
Phoebe: me too!😂😂😂
Phoebe learned through the gang watching "Old Yeller" that her Mom stopped heartbreaking movies right before the end to protect the twins. Phoebe was so distraught that Monica recommended her seeing "It's a Wonderful Life". Of course, that movie had the opposite effect since it was depressing right up until the end. Phoebe was so depressed, she turned it off before it got to the uplifting part. So she was mad because she thought Monica was deceiving her.
the baby actor is so calm omg
Ross kinda predicted the future of Monica and Chandler when he talked about his and Rachel's future
ben be like.."future stepmom what?"
Great tv series👌👏😅
"hey, is that a door?"
Ok, I seriously want a guy like Ross😍😍💎💎💎💎💎💎
The Runaway Club's song "Good Together" bought me here.
"Well I'm going to kiss you!!" love it!!
Can't believe this post is 11 years old
"Yeeeeaaaaahhhh, About that... I don't think Emily will work out" signed God.
If the character of Emily didnt come along then the name of their daughter would be definitely Emily
"Hey, is that a door!"
Ross and Rachel will always be the ultimate couple for me..whatever they do, howvever many fights they have, they always end up back with each other, and i love it
Can I got One Ross please? Just One!
Of course after marrying his second wife, that name was NEVER going to happen
this is a great scene!
Missing someone right now. Wish we were in this situation.
Oh, Ross O.O I didn't know you can see the future! Way to go, champ.
Wow, it's weird seeing the beginning bit without it being in a blooper!
Rachel: "Okay you know what, I'm off my break now. so here, you take this"
(Hands Ben to Ross)
😂😂😂😂😂
2:34 is me to my friend
one of Ross' plan became real bc their first child is a girl which is Emma, and imagine if they really move to scarsdale 💕
I'd like to think if they move, it'd be to Westchester near Monica and Chandler
this is the best video from Friends:X
Awww, Emma- Emily!!
They weren't! Rachel just was angry about what had happened before so she didn't want to talk to anyone. And Phoebe had a rough time too...
No one is talking about Phoebe's " me too"😂😂
If you see it at 1:01
Ross predicted the future of having another baby.
Oh I wishh GUNTHER was hearing this conversation!😂😂😂
Jennifer Aniston looks great in that scene.
Now ross you can't name your daughter EMILY
3:56 Good cause I love you🤍🤍🤍
