If you're going to Mesa Verde for the Cave Dwellings, you might want to check out Canyons of the Ancients. It is a National Monument in the same area of Colorado and you can walk through dwellings in multiple locations. Certainly worth checking out while you're in the area! th-cam.com/video/hpdfcmRSK7k/w-d-xo.html

I just looked it up and I'm disappointed I missed it. I was even looking for a reason to go to New Mexico! I will make sure I stop and hopefully camp next time I'm in the area. Thanks for the tip!

I am not sure if the caves are open to people yet. They did charge the $25 entrance fee to get in the park, so plan on that either way!

Hello Laura, just subscribed to your channel. My husband and I are planning to go there this weekend. Is it worth it especially that only two trails that are open? Any suggestion?

It is worth it to go if you want to see the cave dwellings and the park as a whole. It wouldn't be worth it if you really wanted to hike. The views of Cliff Palace, Spruce Tree House and Square Tower House were the best lookout points for the dwellings. The Canyon was unexpected and really neat in its own right! I think the only thing that is hard to see is Balcony House. It was hard to get a good view even from Soda Canyon Overlook. That might be one you can wait till your next visit to explore. Other than that, it was great! Restrooms were open, but not the visitors center. Rangers were still on hand outside to answer questions. Thanks for subscribing! You'll have a great time in that area of Colorado no matter what you decide to do!
