How one elder finds out "The Truth" is not the truth.

  • Jack grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness in Poland. His mom and siblings were JW’s, and his father was Catholic. His father shunned him when he decided to choose Jehovah over him, and he left Poland and moved to Toronto, Canada, where his mother and siblings had moved to. He went on to get married, have kids, and become an elder. It wasn’t until a “new light” had been mentioned at one of the assemblies had Jack questioned any of the teachings. This “new light” that had been shared during a convention in 2013 didn’t seem accurate to him. He went on to talk to other elders about this “new light,” all of which agreed with Jack but told him that its ok not to believe all the teachings and to disregard it, and to focus on all the other teachings that the governing body had for us. Jack was still in question with all these things. He went on to read the book Crisis of Conscious in secret. The further he read, the more he began to realize the “truth” was not the “truth.”
In this interview, Jack shares a key point to help couples when one wakes up and the other one is still in. He also shares essential points to help wake up others. He is a coach, speaker and author. To learn more about his story and many others, please visit:

I was born into the Jehovah’s Witness and baptized at the age of 14. My eyes began to open after getting baptized and pioneering and asking an elder to come with me to a revisit of a person who gave me literature for me to read in exchange for both the Watchtower and Awake which he agreed to read and talk about it if I returned at a later date. I got reprimanded by the elder for accepting literature that is not from the Watchtower. However at that moment I am thinking why I cannot accept and read about other religions when during the ministry meetings we are told to encourage people to learn about other religions when we go door to door, yet a Jehovah’s Witness is not allowed to. Eventually at the age of 18 I moved out of my parents house and shortly after that I was disfellowshipped for living with who at the time was my girlfriend and later became my wife and mother of my 3 children. My entire family shunned me, and when my father passed away, that’s when they decided to call just to let me know I can go see my father now that he has passed. I promised my family that I will make it my business to let as many people out there know to not entertain the Jehovah Witnesses and stay as far as possible from them

You apostates are part of the son of lawlessness which also includes Women, and by the way you remind me so much of jezebel. A Jezebel-like woman in the congregation of Thyatira claimed to have prophetic powers but followed the course of ancient false prophetesses and received the condemnation of Christ Jesus in his message to John at Revelation 2:20-23. She improperly acted as a teacher and misled members of the congregation into wrong practices. The apostate “man of lawlessness” is also called “the son of destruction.” (2Th 2:3 Some who once served as Jehovah’s Witnesses like you Puss have rejected various Scriptural views based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and his apostles. For example you insist that we are not living in the “last days,” despite overwhelming evidence that we are. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) You apostates ‘have gone out from us because they were not of our sort.’ (1 John 2:18, 19) Hence, you no longer have fellowship with loyal anointed witnesses of Jehovah and their companions, and therefore these self-seeking heretics have no “sharing” with the Father and the Son, no matter how much they may boast of having intimacy with God and Christ. Instead, they are in spiritual darkness. (1 John 1:3, 6

You were so brave and lucky to get out of that religion at a young age. I can't imagine how hard it is to be shunned. Thankfully, I got out of it before I was baptized. So even though my sister is a JW, we are still very close. Unfortunately, she has been so brainwashed that there is not much I can do. It is in God's hands now.

Thank you so much for doing this interview and making it public. My journey started earlier, when the organization told us to throw away all older publications. A bell went off. It seemed so ridiculous that I went and read two bushel boxes of books from very early books up to the present at that time (I have been out for 21 years). It occurred that people would not want you to read their own prior stuff if they had been honest then. Then I started seeing the history of failed prophecies, etc, and the generation changes just really fit right in there with that. As my doubts grew I started reading every cited scripture and double checked it by reading it in context and started putting notes in the margins of my Watchtowers about what those scriptures really meant and that they had nothing to do with how they were being presented.
Meanwhile, my husband was waking up and he too had been an elder for many years. He actually left the organization a but before me, but I was scared. But it didn't take me long to realize I couldn't pretend. So within a year of his fading, I also faded. I have never regretted that decision. I read the Bible and realized just how much the organization twists the scriptures to their desires, and their desires change pretty often. But keeping everyone in line and obeying stays.
I am grateful to have watched this. My husband passed away 9 years ago, and you remind me so much of him in how you talk and reason. I think my last worry about what JWs think of me, went away just a few months ago when I decided to comment on these channels in my actual name. I am free and freedom feels so good.

I very much resonate with the pain/pleasure spectrum. It hurt my heart, mind and soul more to stay in than to get out and risk everyone's disapproval. Which was a really big shift for me...I was raised by a narcissist, so appearances were everything to her and extendedly me. And the org operates within similar parameters. Appearance, reputation, love-bombing or shunning to accomplish/create pressure to achieve goals/agendas. It's all about power, control and money. Leveraging guilt shame and fear. It'll be interesting to see how their end game plays out.

Thank you; I was surprised to hear an elder's fear come onto the stage; my son was reaching out to be an elder when I decided it was time to grow up and serve God freely rather than feel like a lesser person, a female, a single mother, etc. Then, disfellowshipped, shunned, ignored. and when I finally got around to looking for other scriptural info, I too found a Crisis of Conscience and loads of books of other people and other research, cultural bibles, language explanations, I couldn't get enough. I too initially felt fear, heart pounding, sweating, shaking, the whole ball of wax but I wanted truth and understanding and the fear dissolved with prayer. Jack, you sound so free and my son too, after a lifetime of that cult, discovered the hypocrisy and walked away to happiness. The truth will set you free as the good book says and like Vevian love, unconditional love and forgiveness. Not enough words to explain being born again.

This was a wonderful interview. Jack presents himself well. The endearing and enduring patience he showed his wife is what ,I feel, Godly love is. We are all emotional when we wake up to what is really going on. It took us a while to process through it ourselves so we can't expect any one else to change their minds on just our word. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes years. But, he still had his wife and his children. Helping her to find a better group to connect with doesn't happen overnight and consider their children as well. You helped me a great deal. I am an older woman now and alone but I feel closer to God and to Jesus Christ. I even took up study of biblical Hebrew. The silver sword is full of misappropriate translation of both the old and the new testaments. It is joy for me to be able to really study the Bible . Thank you for putting your self out there for us. May you be greatly blessed. 🙏 . Just because I left this organization doesn't mean I will ever leave God nor his only begotten Son Yeshua (Jesus). He's the one who came, was unjustifiably tortured and executed and shed his blood for all of humanity . I never really understood what the gospel of Jesus meant before. I feel like a new baby in an older woman's body. It's difficult getting over feeling lost and relearning how to develop my spiritual relationship. SMH. Shalom

Wow; his point about Jdubs equating 'obedience' with salvation, as opposed to equating 'truth' with salvation really hit home. That's basically why I awoke one day terrified by the thought that I might be throwing my life away on something I can't even prove to myself is true. By Jack's argument, a lot of Jdubs will just ignore that thought and stay; because obedience is more important (which is an irony, because, it's called the TRUTH). After I awoke that day, it was a slow downhill. Which had morphed into an avalancheby the time 6 months had passed.
I honestly had no idea there was an ex-Jdub community; I didn't find out about that until a few years after I had left, almost 3 years later. The first seeds of it might have been with the Revelation book when I found myself thinking years before, " how on Earth can they know that those prophecies were fulfilled by every single tiny minute detail that they were claiming"; they just seemed like wild claims to me, and that was probably my first ever period of doubt; That, and Jdubs saying things like "Armageddon is just around the corner", several times over the years. I knew I had doubts; and when they really reared their heads, obedience was no longer in the equation. I had to go.

The overlapping generations was the last straw for me too. I remember thinking "You've got to be kidding me." Not only did it not make sense but it lets 1914 off the hook. They kept the urgency factor that we are living in "the final part of the final part of the last days" but now there is no end in sight in terms of the number of overlapping generations that could transpire in the future. In other words, they bought themselves an endless amount of time. If Armageddon doesn't happen in the next 100 years or beyond the overlapping generations doctrine will still be valid for all eternity. It's very convenient. In saying that, I'm still a believer and feel that God could intervene at any time, things are certainly spiraling down, but the overlapping generations explanation was a major frustration and let down to me.

You missed the bit where Jack said 'we live in extraordinary times'. The media is focused on the negative because psychologist focused on consumerism learned that the most effective 'emotional hooks' for viewership are variations on fear and anger. I know there are some significant issues such as climate change, and women's rights going backwards in the U.S.A. , etc., However, there is a more balanced view.
In the last 50 years global poverty has decreased significantly, access to clean water, food, education and employment opportunities have increased. Global rates of violence have decreased. Medical understanding and treatments, and preventios have advanced, and are continuing to at a rapid rate. There is greater understanding and acceptance of people living as their authentic selves, particularly so with Gen Z. Due to the banning of hydro-fluro-carbons, the holes in the ozone layer over Australia have 'repaired' . But don't take my word for it. You can look up these facts for yourself. 😊

@@tdomingues89 I'm sorry if this is a personal reply. I feel for you if it is. I've experienced some devastating losses in my life too. So I've given it a lot of thought and the way I see it is this >>> God apparently has his set time to intervene. No one knows when that will be but there are definite signs that things are spiraling down. If this isn't Sodom and Gomorrah all over again I don't know what is. Time setters have discouraged people and have caused a lot of loss of faith. This is man's failure not God's. His time setting doesn't change. The way I see it God is in a Catch22. He has a set time to make things right but in the interim His hands are tied. If He were to intervene for some and not others it would make him both partial and a liar. The Bible says God cannot lie and that he isn't partial. If He intervened for all then we would be in His kingdom right now. It would mean the righteous and the unrighteous would still coexist. The unrighteous would reap the same reward as the righteous. There would be no distinction between the two because God would have to intervene every time an evil person wanted to do something bad. God has no choice but to allow the evil person to carry out his crime because a person cannot be condemned in a court of law for having an evil thought, only if he acts upon it. He has to commit the crime to condemn himself. By allowing the good to coexist with the bad He is separating the sheep from the goats knowing He will make all things right in the end. He could have made robots but He gave us Free Will. So He has no choice but let it play out the way man orchestrates it. If He intervened for one dying child He'd have to intervene for all or He would be partial. Right now He is allowing the chips to fall where they may. Some will get sick and die, some will be victims of crime. We are all victims and recipients of unforeseen events. We have to be like Job and keep the faith no matter what. I think faith is the key because regardless of what happens in this temporal life God will live up to His promises and make it right in the end because He's Just and He is the Great Equalizer.

“I read Raymond Franz’s books and that’s how I woke up. That’s all it took.”
This is why Watchtower flat-out forbids their members from looking at “apostate material.” They know that people aren’t stupid and that if do any research at all into the truth about Jehovah’s Witnesses, 99% of people are going to wake up. Watchtower knows their members aren’t stupid. So they have to make them afraid instead.

Hi! I really enjoyed your story! What a blessing you woke up when you did! Your whole family unit would’ve been destroyed! My kids are the way I got out! I was 42 years old when I left! I was a fourth generation born in! My kids woke up really fast and my son started telling me they were hiding sex abuse. I said, no, they don’t do that! They call the police! He’s like, mom, wake up! They call the service department at Bethel and hide it all! I stopped going because I was depressed that both my children had been disfellowshipped. I was feeling down. I always thought I would go back. But, once my mother started shunning me, as well as pretty much anyone I’d ever known, I knew I could never go back. I decided I was going to prove my son wrong, so, I searched google. Before that, I never looked outside for information! I’m so glad I opened my mind to the things my kids were saying. The only down side? I had to tell myself he was right! 😰My best friend was the COBE’s wife, she never once called me or came by! Never! No one ever came to call on me! I live across the street from the Kingdom Hall! The last thing my mother said to me was, that I was going to die with my kids! I told her, well, I’ll be dead then and I won’t know it!Sadly, she shunned me the last 8 years of her life. I wasn’t ever disfellowshipped, I just faded! Thank goodness she was the only family member alive that was a witness! I’ve been out for 10 years as of October of this year! I couldn’t be happier. I started dating and was with my husband for almost 9 years, he was never a witness. When we met and I told him I used to be a JW, my son told him how my mom didn’t talk to me and all their weird beliefs and the only thing he said🤷🏻‍♀️THATS A CULT!!! I’ve just started dating again and I happened to meet an ex JW. He wrote to me and I said something back to him and he said, you used to be a JW! We’ve been out on a few dates and I love his perspective on so many things. It’s definitely great to be alive and living life to the fullest!😃😃😃

So, if any of you need a friend, I’m here for you, I know I could use friends! I’m in Southern California, I’m from San Diego. I used to live right up the hill from the stadium. I sat and listened to your story and as I usually do when listening to these interviews both nodding and shaking my head at what a destructive and lost organaisation the witness organisation is. The part about your father resinated with myself and I knew totally what you were talking about on your fathers reaction, a reaction driven by i believe that it is futilto argue and his relisation of litteraly losing his kids to a cult, The other beuitful thing was your sharing your familly dynamic and the way you have been able to be an integral part of the decisions your daughters have made is inspirational to see as a father myself. Thank you for sharing and thank you Vevian for your channel and is content.

For many of us it was learning of the child sex abuse cover-ups in the name of "confidentiality". Then noticing neither literature not meetings discussed the lawsuits and pay-outs to vicitims, meanwhile, condemning the Catholic Church for doing the same. And when they did BRIEFLY discuss the child sex abuse policy, it was only a PARTIAL explanation. They would say elders obey reporting laws, but they never explicitly said what they do if there is no reporting law. They also never shared with us what Watchtower lawyers were telling worldly judges if no reporting law - elders are OBLIGATED to NOT...NOT report and keep such "confidential." So while I could tolerate minor doctrinal "adjustments" I could not accept GROSS MORAL FAILURES and DECEIT. These two really threw me for a loop.

I’ve lost so many loved ones in death, parents and siblings as well as nieces and nephews and that is sad but I have a hope that burns bright that some day in the future I can see them again, so all is not lost to doom and gloom for where there is hope and a purpose there is real happiness. What did it for me was learning the GB has put in print that Jesus didn’t die for us. Jesus only died for the anointed. We have no new covenant with Jesus, only they do. It’s only by “our strict obedience and close association and support of the gb and their organization, that it’s reasonable to conclude we will also be deemed righteous and become “friends with god”. They have gone so far as to say they themselves will be the judges in heaven that will decide who is worthy of receiving the benefits of Jesus ransom and they will be the ones applying it to us while restoring mankind spiritually, mentally and physically over the 1000 years. They have replaced Jesus with the GB. I am not willing to put my life in the hands of 8 men. Jesus said nothing about a “pay wall” to him. When you start reading the Bible with the goal of understanding what it’s saying, and stop using various sentences to “prove” something you want people to think, it’s shockingly simple.
