How to Use Copyrighted Music on Instagram and Facebook

- If you're a content creator making videos for Facebook Watch or Instagram Stories you'll want to use music. I'll show you how to use copyrighted music on Instagram and Facebook without any claims or copyright strikes from the record labels.
⚡UPDATE ⚡Since I released this video Lickd has undergone a lot of changes. It still is possible to license an individual track BUT it's more expensive than it used to be. Lickd now instead points to a subscription plan where you pay $15 a month and then each commercial track costs $8 to license. It's still a GREAT service but I wanted to provide some clarity on how it works now (vs how it was when the video was first released). Is there a specific amount of time for how long I can use the song I want in my video or can I use any amount of time I want
Once you’ve licensed the song you can use the entire song in the video you’ve licensed it for.

I have a question I have my own songs paid for beats created the lyrics released through distribution company and i want to create a 24/7 live stream but TH-cam is taking it down because there is a copyright claim which makes since because it’s under me. How can I use my own songs in live stream without it being removed.
TH-cam is not really designed for live music streaming and as such they monitor live streams for anything that has a copyright claim. You would be better using something like Mixcloud live to stream live.
Can I use copyrighted music with some alterations (e.g. changing pitch and tempo, distorting, adding echo, equalizing) on IG and FB?
It's the principal of cheating someone out of what's due to them which is why copyright detection systems are in use. If you want to use someone's copyrighted work then use it with the appropriate license in place.
How do we let Facebook know we have licensing? I've purchased mine and use audio from outside of the Facebook app. However a few minutes after uploading they tell me I can't get monetized on that video and they tag a random sound creator in the post who did not create the sound. It's becoming frustrating.

Would you have any suggestions to what to do for Facebook love videos? The dance company I support through social media will have a small non profit live event with street artists who want to dance to regular commercial music. I'm pretty sure FB will block this video. Any way around that? 🤷🏽♀️
You can ask the participants to pick the track they want to dance to from Lickd’s library and the license the tracks.

Is there a way to view your titles or search for a selection before buying a membership? I kinda like to know what I'm getting before a purchase.
There is no joining fee, you only pay when you license a track
hey! Is there a way to tag a song when u do IGTV video so that people can find the vid by tapping on the songs song? Or it’s only in reels? Is there a risk of vid getting deleted when u use a song in IGTV?
You cannot legally use an unlicensed song in an IGTV video

thanks Mike i will give a try, not bold to stand out on media but really want to have instagram, youtube and facebook page, but whenever i upload a video in any of the above mention it end up being banned. going right away on your link to check it out
Good luck. Hopefully you can get yourself sort out this way.
But then apealing a copyright infringement can take upto 2years which I've had before, you should NOT need to do all this when in my case as a radio dj I'm given the track directly from the artist or distributed from labelworx/Promobox to premote for them on the show. Facebook and TH-cam are pretty much a bunch of w***ers to be honest with you
So how do you use popular music for a business account? Facebook doesn’t even give me the option. I pay ascap fees shouldn’t that open me up to more choices?
@@CmonAndZumba well i dont know about that problem you have but let me tell you about a claim i made recently, youtube Flagged a video of mine recently on a 90s even i attended, the actaul artists was LIVE on stage, we attended this event as PRESS aaa = Access all areas. We appealed the copyright claim and explained we are a radio station and using video content as press promotion The record company have released the claim

Man I used your link to get the permission for my video edit I posted on fb and it got copyrighted for the music but they dont have The Nights by AVICCII in Lickd.. What should I do?
If the track you want to use isn't available contact Lickd to see if they plan to license it or chose another track.

Hey there! You can try reaching out to the original artist or use royalty-free music to avoid copyright issues when posting your cover song on Facebook.
Do I add the link after I purchase it for an ig post? You lost me on that part. I don't see anybody using those links on IG.

When i press the add music button on instagram , It lets me add music but it’s not instagrams music bank , it’s from face books music bank and i don’t like the music facebook has. Is there anyway to go back to instagrams music bank ?

This is a question for Facebook as Instagram's owner, I'm afraid I wouldn't know the answer to why Facebook have made this change.

Does anyone know where I can get info on how to dispute a false copyright claim for Facebook? I own the copyright (lyrics, composition, sound recording) and they disabled the option to dispute the claim and did not tell me who flagged my video. I’ve been searching for a while with no success. If you own the copyright and can prove this then you need to open a dialogue with Facebook
can I ask I used music from facebook sound collection or facebook audio library and I used it for my video background but this is the message. Your Video is muted in certain countries where meta does not have music rights

Hi, you'd need to have permission / license to use any length of copyright material in your video.
This is crazy. If I record a clip of a TH-cam video from my phone and then frame it without any link or anything connecting the video to the creator to Facebook they would mute it but when I add the link they accept it 🤔
The clip from TH-cam is subject to copyright. If you link to it you are not breaching contract but if you download it and pass it off as your own you most likely are.
Facebook has no ability to mute a TH-cam video you’ve linked to but will detect copyright material you’ve posted.

We are a radio station who already paid to use our music. How do we use it on fb live? Do we just write that statement we own our rights?
It's complicated but you will probably have paid for the rights to broadcast on radio, not on Facebook

Most licenses do not allow for remixing or altering of the audio
But you cannot boost reels with these song correct?
That's correct! Unfortunately, using copyrighted music in your Instagram Reels may restrict you from boosting them due to music copyright issues.

That is good for English song. But how about the non English song. 80% of the world population are not native English speaker.
It's a gap in the market for someone to fill
