  • "Please let go of the inflateable pig !! " ... This is amazing. The band plays a raucous version of Pigs (three different ones) for a Cleveland crowd who are clearly enjoying themselves!
You'll need to get through a minute or two of people yelling at you to sit down but once the band kicks in.. this is amazing. You'll want to hang out until the very end when an announcement comes from the stage telling people to please let go of the inflateable pig cables!! Pink Floyd live Animals tour Cleveland Ohio 1977 ! "Sheep" , "Dogs, and other stuff from this same show is up on my channel as well !

I was there that night I was barely 15 years old June 24th 1977. It rained and everyone put up little shanties out of the plywood they put on the infield at old Cleveland stadium. Just before the concert the sun came out and all the shanties went down. The setlist was the entire Animals album the entire wish you were here album and money and us and them as the encores. Fabulous stuff

I was there that night also. We were young and after the show my friend and I quickly left to catch the last bus back to Buffalo, then on home to Canada. Once we got outside the stadium we could hear Money being played and realized we had missed the encore.
Always a regret but still the best concert of my life.

// Dogs was always my favourite song... but just listen to this live version of Pigs man. is insane! live shows are one time events, and this one is just perfect. I love Gilmour's aggressive guitar playing of this era. The drum fills on point. The bass is so groovy... every instrument and vocals in perfect balance. My blood boils every time I listen to it. thanks for sharing!

One of my buddies was in the second level behind home plate beginning to start a hefty good trip for the show and watched that plane take off from Burke Lakefront and wobble its way straight towards the stadium really low...started freaking a bit 'cause it wasn't climbing! We were about 40 feet back from the stage sipping boda bags and chatting and **Vooom!!** this freaking jet blasts overhead out of nowhere realllly low...everyone yells and hits the deck and Floyd just sauntered out, picked up their gear and started playing...we're all like "What the F***!" ...and so it began! I live in Cleveland, but unfortunately was only 8 years old when this concert went down. Went to the Raiders vs Browns in 77, and read the inscribed *Pink Floyd* in the blue rails of the old box seats at Municipal Stadium. My dad told me all about the insanity of the 77 *Animals* tour. Obviously saw them 4 times between 87 and 94.

This is one Floyd tour I wish I could've seen, it was the closest thing to a "Greatest Hits" show. First half was "Animals" in a different order than the album, second half was "Wish You Were Here" in its entirety, with 3 songs from DSOTM as encores and on a few dates "Careful with That Axe, Eugene" as a final encore. This should've been preserved as an "official" live album

  • @TrustKnowWun
    @TrustKnowWun 10 ปีที่แล้ว +37

(I shared this on your channel too) I was at the Pink Floyd Animals Tour, 1977 World Series of Rock, Cleveland Stadium, Ohio. I think these recordings must be from that concert! I remember the cable of the pig being grabbed by the people in the top tiers of the stadium and the stage crew yelling to "let go of the pig." Another vid you posted, the commentator talked about the "free clinic" and Cleveland World Series of Rock was notorious for having medical clinics on the field because of the multiple people who OD'd or got hurt, so I'm pretty sure these recordings are from that concert.
I was so happy to find your channel! I went to many, many, many concerts during my late teens/early 20's, and this Pink Floyd show was absolutely THE BEST show I have ever seen or heard. They are truly professional musicians, sound excellent, put awesome visuals into their show like no other.... just uncomparable with any other rock band I've seen.
The worst band I've ever seen live.... Rolling Stones! They sucked live. Mick Jagger can't sing for shit, screams into the mic, and they were extremely sloppy musically. With the attitude of greatness obviously flowing from them, they didn't give a damn what they sounded like.... the audience was made to feel priveleged to just see them.
Anyways, thank you, thank you, thank you for posting these Pink Floyds vids from Cleveland... "The Home of Rock-N-Roll" !!

I am reading the comments and it all comes back to that wonderful day. We took the elevated
train into the city as there were 20 or so of us. It was pouring and we thought the show would be canceled. But the Rock Gods smiled down on us. There were big umbrellas over the equipment and they folded up and went down into the stage. The stars came out and the Jet flew over. Can ya see them see them doing that today! Haha! It was a real out of body experience. We were up in the nose bleed section but when the rains came, a lot of people came off the infield and we made our way down and ended up 20 feet from the stage. It was unreal! The music is still in my heart and mind and I am so glad to hear it again. Thanks for preserving it. Only wish there was video but ya can't have everything. I do have some great pictures of the stage and the round screen behind the stage and the stadium. It was and is one of my top 5 concerts.

That show in Houston `77 didn't turn out too good for a variety of reasons. 1) the steady drizzle turned into flat out rain so they had to cut the show a little short. Fans became irate and started throwing whatever on the stage. The sound of breaking beer bottles on the equipment still ring in my ears. 2) the slapback echo of their quad system threw off the downbeat so us in the stands couldn't tell where `one` was. By the time we could hear` one` its was like beat `three` so the delay threw it all out of sync. 3) the giant inflatable pig had a small hole in its ass so they could never get it fully inflated. That sucked, but the red lights for eyes did look cool.

Midway thru the show, a kid jumped from the upper deck and landed just two rows in front of me on someone...the EMT's came and escorted all of them away. when the airplane flew over the stadium and everyone looked up and saw the pink pig on the side of the airplane, everyone was blowded away, then they came out and had crazy fireworks of sheep's, pigs etc. blowing up, BEST DAM CONCERT I HAVE EVER SEEN, poor Floyd got kicked out of Cleveland for years after the airplane flying over the stadium, :(

So true, the concerts are just not the same and TJRROCKSPONE, so true they were kicked out of Cleveland for years for the airplane not having permission to fly over the stadium, but how great that was. :) Who says we need computers etc to have such a great wonderful time. :)

I was at this show as well (Municipal Stadium), as soon as I heard the cherry bombs being let off every few minutes I knew it was legit. Someone was setting them off all evening. They played all of Animals and all of Wish You Were Here it was an awesome show. I seem to remember it raining off and on and people on the field lifting up the artificial turf and pulling it over their heads to stay dry. lol great share flipper !

Johnson Ya if you blow the picture up and look at the stair case right next to the Pigs snout, you can read the word "Florida" right next to the bright light but the other word is too obscure to read. My brother & eight other people went & got robbed by about 25 undesirables. There were cops on horses who just wouldn't do anything to help us. I was only 15 & for some reason I had all the tickets in my wallet. There were knives everywhere (except for us concert goers) and they took everything, tickets & all. One guy came up behind me & just ripped my back pocket right off (wallet & all), he pushed me forward while ripping it off & out.... We luckily bought new tickets with one of the persons $$ he had left. The show was well worth it !

Omigawd... I've never met anyone who can "relate" to me on this level and yup, $30.00 a
ticket for orange co.... steep price back then; I'd just seen Heart for $6.50! And you sho right about the rain.... that HAD to be the most AWESOME concert moment of my life and my hobby from 1978 till I joined the Navy in *6 was concert photography using my 35mm Canon AE-1 and my 8" Vivitar zoom lens neither of which were allowed in and yet I still have them! I got GREAT shots of David Gilmour at that Division Bell concert... can you say KA-BOOM fireballs and then INSTANT deluge?!!! I've always said the same thing; ONLY Floyd could've done that! Too bad all I had at The Wall was my lil ol 70's pocket camera which I had to try to sneak in a 2nd time.... we were so far back that the wall look about 2 feet high. :/ Took a pic of it but can't "see" the wall. :/ oh well, I sort of saw it. But made my entire teenage life to get to see the Pigs.... I'm pretty convinced that it was "Animals" that saved my life back in those days for had I not had some colombian and that album and some headphones.... I wouldn't BE here today! PS: Are you Tinman from TBC? Cuz if you are, why ain't ya friended me yet? Beth ikes me... ;) lol

How can you not go to a Floyd concert back then and just stand still, especially when LSD was the norm. Must have been a good trip. I felt that way going to see Tool on their infamous Lateralus tour. Definitely a religious experience. Similar to what bands like Floyd and King Crimson were doing 1st. Like them their cult following is massive and a world it's own. Long live Floyd 🤘🤘

seesaw1969 I disagree. I distinctly remember the Pig's cable being held by the audience and the crew asking them to let go. It held up the show for a few minutes and people were screaming to "let go of the Pig" so the show would go on. The beauty of a live concert is that it is spontaneous and NOT like the studio version and often times the tempo is faster, from my experience anyway.
