Oh my gosh that looks amazing. I've always wanted to visit MN for its famous lakes. Now I figure I'd like to see its winter as well. Really enjoying your Terra 4k footage btw. Greetings from Melbourne Australia.
Because detail trumps resolution. This was shot in 2.7k, and since the bit rate is the same for both 4K and 2.7K, the 4K file has to be compressed more, leading to mushiness and loss of detail, especially in organic elements like grass, branches, and leaves. The 2.7K actually appears sharper simply because it hasn't been compressed as much.
Fantastic, like a dream. I'm pretty sure DJI were thinking about films like this when they released the mavic /phantom drones. However, take care of vapors, it could sometime looks like solid obstacle for proximity sensors. I had some proximity alerts when flying over fires. I liked, show us more !
Thanks! I wish I could get DJI to pick the vid up, because it really does show how well their gear worked in such cold temps. I nearly always fly with the obstacle avoidance and proximity sensors off because with the kind of flying I like to do (close to foreground objects, low to the ground, etc) I've actually had the "smart" features of the drone cause me to crash because it was compensating for something I was purposely trying to do!
OMG! this video is the best I've seen made with a MAVIC! Well done!!! Could you share with us what settings did you use? D-log? What sharpening value is the best for that image quality in your opinion? Thank you in advance! Best wishes!
It took a few tries to get things lined up with the lighthouse glass, but boy, when they lined up, it sure was purdy! Glad you liked it! Btw, I used the Point Of Interest intelligent flight mode to get the last shot, with some active modifying by me during the automated move. :)
My god.. thats some awesome stuff. Nerver seen the mavic this great 👌🏼 How long have you been flying drones? I can't imagine how nervous I would be at a location like this to miss something. ^^
Thanks, Valentin! I've been flying since I got my Phantom 2 in 2014, and I've been FAA licensed since last fall 2016. I used to live and work in the Duluth area, but have never been able to see the sea smoke in person, so when we went up to visit this Christmas and the forecast had -20 projected for lows, I knew I had to take the drone and get some stuff! I finally had to call it quits when I was shivering so badly that I was shaking my screen so much I couldn't see the image clearly! Haha. I did my best, though, and I'm pleased with what I was able to get. :) Cheers!

I like your style 💪
Great flight and edit. Just subd look forward to more of your content.
Mesmerizing...absolutely.
Glad to hear it, Danielle! Thank you!
Fantastic...!!!!
Why does this look better than 4K?

My jaw dropped multiple times watching this. Incredible work my friend!
Thanks, Travis! Just saw that you're licensed as well, so I'm looking forward to seeing what great work you'll do!
