    Great history.I've always been looking for the real true full history please keep these records epically from a historian like him because he a credited scholar.
    We take things for granted to much epically in svg, someone should be keeping records of his interviews or lectures. Post importantly a small history museum of important critical history records, including books.

    Just came across this discussion. I am thinking, there’s someone there that I know. Then I remembered Molton Sayers from Colonarie RC school. 1979 l was a staff member. Good to see you are doing a great job educating us

    One more piece of information. The first play attributed to an African American was rhe struggles of king chatowa. It was written in 1823, by a Mr Brown. No info on wether he was a garifuna.

    Wait, My family is from barrouallie? My great grandmothers name was Annie Fraser. She died giving birth to my grandmother and left no information? I do understand that it’s a common name in carribean but it’s funny I ended up here after watching a bunch of ancestry videos😄

    For all Vincentians. Has the Valladares family name survived on St Vincent? That name is common among Honduran Garifuna.

      That name is not on St. Vincent. Most likely cane into families well over 150 years ago when the Garifuna started mixing with the Spanish. Check your family tree to see how far back that name goes.

    Very Interesting - was like listening to my Dad talking (he was born in Bequia and grew up in St Vincent) - He said his mothers' ancestors were the "Arawaks and Black Caribs" - Her family name was Bainoe. (not 100% sure on spelling)
    I wonder if we're related to DR Fraser?
    That said my dad said his father's ancestors were Scottish.
    I've been watching a few of these videos from various sources, and it's interesting to see how some islands embrace their mixed heritage whilst other simply refuse to accept it.

    I appreciate the program overall but one thing I cannot agree with is the whole escaped Africans from Barbados ended up arriving on the shores of St. Vincent. Then a ship allegedly was ship wrecked. Are we attributing the dark complexion of the natives to Africans? That doesn’t sound very logical to me. How would slaves from another continent know that an island like that existed, and how would they know if the Natives were hostile or not? I need to what sources you have to prove this notion because a prominent Garifuna elder from Guatemala clearly stated Garifuna are not from Africa. They’re indigenous to the Caribbean

    • @sayersworldtv
      @sayersworldtv  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There was actually a ship wreck

    • @s.i.nradio8634
      @s.i.nradio8634 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@sayersworldtv ok they were many shipwrecks. My argument isnt about a shipwreck it's about a narrative that a ship full of so called Africans changed the complexion of an entire Island. That's totally bogus!
