thank you - I think its a bit marmite - some trim, others think thats a no no. I am loving how these are turning out, thank you (and the patios nearly finished!) xx
Thank you for showing your thought process for starting a new journal, Carol! Then adding bits & bobs of ephemera to give you ideas about bulk, and matching both front and back pages as you go thru each page.
Thank you Carol, I’ve had an idea. Perhaps you could demonstrate how you use your quilting ruler to measure and keep pages straight. I’m a quilter and know how to do this, lining up the lines on the ruler with a cut edge keeping the new edge parallel etc. I’m sure non quilters might find this method really useful.
Hi Carol, Thank you for sharing how you go about adding pages and ephemera. This has been very helpful for me as I am such an over-stuffer with my journals. I've been watching several of your videos today and am enjoying a fresh take on ideas. I really appreciate your style and your eye for matching up the pages. So beautiful seeing them being arranged. Hope your garden renovation goes well. Hugs, Angela
Hi Angela glad you found this useful, I try to stick to no more than 20 sheets for a single journal, by the time I have added pockets and flips, it gets quite full. Thank you so much for watching, I appreciate your company x
I have tried different ways and seem to have settled with this, I do like to try different ways, as that's how I learn. I know it's not for everyone though xx
Fascinating to see the process and decision-making. It's looking gorgeous! Someone gave me a tip for folding paper edges once - you start at the middle and spread out to each end, rather than start at one end and work to the other, because the paper stretches.
Carol, Amy at CraftyCat urged is to watch you. Yay, I'm so glad she did. In the g first 3 min. of your video I saw something I haven't done or seen before. I loved the way you collaged on the backs of the printed tag page and then cut them out. Brilliant! I think it's genius. You really make cool things. Happy to be a Subie.
Thank you for sharing! In the beginning I never trimmed my pages. After watching you and Jacqui I started doing so and now I always trim them even if I am adding ruffles or lace. Funny how once you get used to that neat edge you can't seem to go back!
Gorgeous Gorgeous papers so much to choose from too have to check out Rachel's etsy store 😍 I like the way you said you like to get the feel of it the journal 😃
I love to see how people put their journals together. I always pick up an idea or two. Except for height, I have never evened up the pages before. I love the need edge it gives the journal. I want to try that with my next journal. 😊
Oh thank you Carol! This has been really helpful! I really want to make one of these journals but I think mentally I have been putting it off. One I have your video to follow 💕🥰
I’m watching some older videos and came across this one which was very helpful! I don’t mind if pages stick out a little. Especially if I’m putting any trim or lace on the edges. 😊
I'm a trimmer too...lol - it's just my OCD I suppose, even if I put ruffles or lace on the edge. I struggle with the grungy look and it either looks too clean or wayyyy to dark by the time I get done with it. I love watching other peoples process of putting their pages together. There is no right or wrong way and clearly in the end they all turn out just beautiful.
Thank you for sharing Carol. Yes, I try to get my pages equal. Some people cut them all in 1 time, I cannot manage that. I did it with scissors, page for page, but probably your cutting works better (and more precise). I have problems too to make a journal look more grungy, though who says what's better? I guess it is just how we are, isn't it? I made a journal a little bit more grungy with all coffee dyed pages that are torn on the edges. And now I am doing the Keeper of Memories course of Alex Castroferreira that really forces me to work otherwise. Nevertheless I already can remark that I secretly try to put some preciseness in it. Stupid me, why take a course to work more grungy and then secretly work more precise??? Anyway this course gives me a lot of fun and I am looking in a different way to my family photos and my memories.
Hmm... I think I might like to own that 👍😁 that is if you sell them (don't see an Etsy shop below). Unless I'm making a junk journal, I trim the pages. Either way, I make my covers so that I have a flap on each side of the cover that folds in, into the center, so the outside of the page edges are covered. If I trim the edges, I do so after I bind it. That way it's exactly in line. I put my cutting board inside the middle and rotary cut them.
Hi, thank you. both of these journals are reserved, I seem to have folks waiting for my botanical journals. My etsy store is www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Carolsjournals I haven't tried your method for journal pages, it's a different method, there seem to be so many ❤️
It's nice to be able to follow your process. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much brygida, I hope all is well with you x

Like you, I like to neaten the edges. We’re neat freaks 🤣. These journal pages are very pretty. Good luck with your garden renovations. 😊

Hi carol,,thank you so much, both have been reserved, but I will be making more, if your interested, message me on etsy? Xx
Beautiful, love to see it coming together. What weight paper do you print on please? 🥰
Hi Moira, I use 120 gsm presentation paper to print the pages, I find it in Wilko x
I cut papers down because my printer doesn’t print from edge to edge. One of these days, I’ll be able to purchase one.
My printer will print edge to edge, but the colours are so much stronger when I do that, so it depends which kits I do that with 😁😁
