I was newly on fire for God in the late 80's when a TV network here in Canada showed Cotton Patch Gospel. I still have the VHS tape of it and watch it every once in a while. This is my favourite song from the show.
What a fitting tribute to the genius of Harry Chapin. I got to meet him on his very last concert tour and to shake his hand. New Orleans, Louisiana, at the Saenger Theatre. I asked him if he would be my friend. He said "Friends forever."
Looking forward to performing this song tomorrow in the 6th annual "I'm Just Wild About Harry" show at Eisenhower Park! Thanks for posting this video so that folks can learn the song! (And thanks, Bill Hahn, for suggestion it! )

I saw it off Broadway on March 6 1982. You would have thought that Harry was. a C&W artist, the songs were so great.

Would love for someone to transcribe the chords as Tom is playing this - in Key of F.
