Awesome, best review hands down!. Might I please ask for your help to clarify these 2 questions: 1) As someone that uses glasses, does the clamp force makes it uncomfortable for you in long sessions? (I've been reading comments about these being really uncomfortable for all of us using glasses :-S). 2) Does the microphone works in wired mode when connected to a PC via 3.5mm?. Also another comment I've read where it was stated that if the battery drains out, mic will not work when used in wired mode through 3.5mm, that seems feasible as the mic connects via micro-usb and assuming it will need power at all times to work, but I have no way of testing it :) 3) Any chance you could make a video to cover recommendations for affordable gaming wireless headsets that can also be used for conferencing and home office?. I personally find the Jabra, Plantronics and those "Business grade" ones overpriced for what they are and I'm looking for one affordable wireless gaming headset that I can also use as a daily driver for conferencing with good mic quality. Thanks again for all of your reviews!!
This is a fantastic review for what seems a fantastic headset. Such an in-depth and detailed review that it's convinced me to buy one, following my VOID mic being ripped off by toddler...
Thanks so much for this. Had to do some fat searching for your video but I've been looking for a solid comparison between the two headset editions microphones. I wasnt expecting getting more than 30 seconds of it.
Basically, Pros: Great sound quality (very clear), mic quality (this easily surpasses any gaming headset at the moment), build quality (looks very sturdy and durable) and software option. Cons: Uncomfortable for most people, why? (this is for small/medium head otherwise uncomfortable for big head/ears), wired usb is awkwardly placed (making noise when touching you), lastly you MUST use the software for any changes such as EQ or going 7.1 surround.
just wanna ask how about the audio quality? does it much better than any steelseries at its same price point? bydaway nice review detailed and informatic enough
Hey prawn, I finally got this headset and I am super happy, it's so comfortable for me and it sounds better then my turtle beaches, also the microphone is fantastic and good for streaming, one of the best headsets I've ever owned
The one thing that blew my mind really is how the mic sounds so good, much more better than the SE version. But its a shame that my ears hits the side walls and its annoying and uncomfortable
Decent headset had pros and Cons Cons: My ears got too warm with the Pleather material, the audio had some issues when using the equalizer (The sound seemed to be compressed but then compensated and sounded too loud in the areas you turn down in the equalizer), The earcups would sit on my ears and felt uncomfortable (Probably due to the non oval earcups, and more of a circular shape.) Pros: Premium build, RGB goodness, Detachable Mic, Wireless) Conclusion: Returned after a few days, testing Razer Blackshark V2 Pro. Unless someone is a die hard Corsair fan, I would get a different headset for that amount of cash.
Love my CORSAIR, after endless problems with numerous pairs of @Razer Nari headphones - with Razer USBs forever going wrong - I’ve had many months perfect use of my @Corsair Virtuoso and love them.
Great review! Microphone sounds great, I'm wondering if you had that running out of the box settings or if you did any tampering with it to make it sound so clear? Thanks
You have some of the best videos about this headset, thanks for that. Do the settings sync between different devices? PC/PC or PC/PS4? Is the sidetone feature working on PS4? Is it possible to set all things up and then close the iCue app? I don't want it running in the background.
I can't comment on PS4 unfortunately as I'm a PC gamer. I don't think you need to open iCue or having running all the time (though it might be in the background). There isn't much to change in the setting anyway and you can change between settings on the fly anyways for the most part.
I really liked this headset, on paper it has everything I need and love about them. BUT they are so uncomfortable for me to wear, my ear hits the driver side wall, and im sitting and constantly re-adjusting them. Its a big shame, because I really love everything about this headset, its just that I cant wear them for long periods of time.
My local bestbuy had the se version that I tried out. Based on this wonderful review and my limited usage, I really like these...but I got 2 questions. Does it work well with a ps4 pro? And is it still worth it despite the slight discomfort? Or just find something else?
sinnerslight Very worth it. I have it, and I have sub-large ears. They are kindaaa uncomfortable after like 3-5 hours but it is pretty breathable. But despite the uncomfortableness the surround sound and great mic makes up for it.
I did not, but I know someone that did and his mic was fine. The difference between the SE and standard in the old videos was fixed with a firmware update.
The microphone on this thing is nuts. Is that raw recording, or did you do some post processing shenanigans to this video? Also, I wish you'd do a demonstration of wired vs. wireless. Im not a fan of having a rope on my head, so id like to hear what im missing if I go wireless.
Great Review! Would the Virtuoso gain better improved audio quality from connecting to a Dac/Amp using the 3.5mm jack or from the 24bit/96KHz audio from the USB cable? Sorry for the specific question. Thanks
Hey provoked prawn! new subscriber here. great content! Thinking of getting the vituoso, i am a pc gamer and an occasional mobile gamer. I would hopefully buy the virtuoso for gaming use and music use, however you did mention that the headset supports usb c to usb c connection. i use a samsung s20 which only has a usb c port, i was wondering if the headset will work just fine with mobile because i read in a reddit post that the virtuoso works well for the first few mins then it would suddenly be highpitched and lose sound until the restarted. Is it worth using mobile usb c to usb c connection? Thanks a lot!
Interesting. I've not heard that complaint. I didn't actively use it a LOT with the USB-C to USB-C connection but I can't see why there'd be a problem doing so. Perhaps the complainer had a dodgy headset?
yes. exactly what I need for flight sims. good mic with playback and flat sides to mount head tracking. I will make a small flitter for the pops on the microphone and it will be perfect. not common but I'm curious if you can input audio wired and wireless at the same time.
Please help me out with my next purchase. I’m between purchasing these gaming headset and the Logitech G Pro X. Which headset would you pick? Thanks in advance!
I saw this on sale and so I came to youtube to find reviews. First, I clicked on your channel because I love the name "The Provoked Pawn". All I can think of is those early games of chess as a boy when I'd corner my opponents Rook or Knight and take it with a Pawn and thing "yah boi, get wrecked"..... That's all I came to say. Also, nice review. Bought these for $69 refurbed on amazon.
@@TheProvokedPrawn sorry In my rush to take kids to school I left that part out. I REALIZED it was Prawn which made it all the funnier when i put my glasses on . LOL,
did you do any post (not on the fly via the blue software) processing to remove the hiss? Almost all other reviews has this grainy hiss on their mic test. Best.
I might have normalised the levels but I wouldn't have cleaned the sound as I want people to hear the legit audio. As for hiss I didn't notice any I believe.
@@TheProvokedPrawn Wow, I did not expect such a quick response, let alone a response at all. I read that was possible after asking, but the research about putting better cushions on is a different story (aka nothing easy/without voiding warranty). Noted about the mic, thank you.
Hardware Canucks made a surprising point: The SE version has a larger mic that sounded a lot worse! That is deeply confusing, in their review you could hear the sound was a lot messier, wired or not. Listening to this, the regular small mic sounds absolutely excellent.
If I have a Aorus Z390 Master motherboard, should I use the USB 3.0 DAC port on the mobo or can I use the USB-C port with the same performance? Awesome review btw :)
Well I need to game less and study more. So if the headset gets a bit uncomfortable to wear after a few hours, then I see it as a win win situation. On a more serious note, would you recommend this over the Arctis Pro Wireless?
Do you know how many inches it is of the inside the ring/hole? Just wounding cause my ears my be fine. I know you were saying it was tight for you. I just don’t want to skip buying this headset if only because of guess thinking if your ears aren’t comfortable mine will not. I feel like everything else I like about it.
The SE is meant to be superior. It had problems initially that were fixed with firmware updates. However I've not actually tried it so can't comment 100%.
Thanks for the video, was very handy but was wondering, if it matters what type of USB-C cable is used for the headset? You see I'm also finding the braided cable annoying as it rubs on my clothes so wanted to buy a rubber coated one but I'm not sure if I need a specific cable with a certain data transfer capability or whether any old cable is fine.
It probably needs to be able to send data yes. I used a USB-C to USB-C cable, but I suspect a phone charging USB-C cable would work too as they often are able to pass data so you can copy photos and such.
@@TheProvokedPrawn yeah that's the problem, I don't have a phone charger so was gonna buy the cheap Amazon cable but I don't know if it would be capable hahaha
I just want to know, like every other pair I've owned(including the Astro A50's I own do this), but how often to the drivers crash? This was a HUGE problem with the old Logitechs, audio popping and cutting in and out every 30mins(only using the 7.1 feature, if you turned it off it worked flawlessly). The Astro A50's were a HUGE improvement in terms of basically everything, however, every once in a while the Astro's would still have the drivers crashing(though it was far less frequent and when it does happen it's really quick. More common when battery is low too). I've never been surprised by a pair of headphones and these new corsairs actually have me hyped to see someone actually making a good gaming headphone with a GOOD MIC.
Is there still an issue with the SE mic being worse then the normal? I am considering getting the SE version but I dont like the idea of paying more for the worse mic . I've heard the issue is caused by the software.
Did you have issues with static / white noise in this headset ? I would like to get it based on your review, but I see people complaining left and right about static noise with no fix from corsair

On the box it says PS4 being compatible and sound quality should be on par. Not PC is amazing and PS4 is meh ..... these reviews don't cover the full aspect. Most gamers use multiple platforms and don't want 2 or 3 different head sets for each platform.
The mic sound is great for me compare to other gaming headsets out there, but my main concern here that I'll about to ask you is, does the overall sound quality is great? I'm more to gaming, listening to music, and watching videos/movies almost everyday, so I really wanted to know if great or not. Hope you'll notice my comment, I'll wait for your reply, sir. Thanks and God bless.
@@TheProvokedPrawn, lastly sir does the 7.1 surround sound in this headsets is virtual, right? And do you think the 7.1 surround sound of this headsets is good especially when it comes to gaming?
I am shopping for a new headset and mic and there is so many to choose from. I just don’t know what to get. Being there not cheap it makes it hard to pick the right one. I do a lot of gaming and editing the videos and I need a pair that fits and doesn’t hurt after a couple hours. Thank you for sharing the video. Makes it harder to choose lol
if you want something really good I suggest to just skip gaming headsets and try to go for a philips fidelio x2hr or philips shp9500 (depending on the budget) and get the vmoda boom pro that you can plug directly to 3.5 female on the headphone to make a really good hi-fi headset
What is the top headset you would recommend? I've tried the Arctis Pro and ended up being total garbage. It was extremely tinny sounding, had zero bass, and just wasn't good at all. That's just my experience though.
Well, I like the Arctis Pro wireless, so if you don't then maybe my opinion is meaningless? :) Also depends, do you want wired or wireless? If you're set against SteelSeries then either the Corsair Virtuoso or Astro A50 imo.
@@TheProvokedPrawn I've only ever used wireless in the past (price and been told slinds better). But, I could always use something wireless. So, people with the corsair, are they that uncomfortable???? Thanks.
I think they are but then I have a friend who thinks they're fine. So it's really hit and miss tbh. You might be fine. Depends how big your ears are and how far they stick out.
1st off, great videos and very Informative. But.... I've come accross 4 of your videos reviewing this or comparing this same product and not once did you test the sound or note any differences using a PS4. The Corsair pro are diabolical sound output on the Ps4 compared to the pc and these are the hidden things that are not disclosed by manufactures. Please can you plug them into a PS4 and review if the out put is reduced?? Thanks
I don't have a PS4 to do that with I'm afraid. Though I think I have said in the videos that Corsair has said the headset doesn't support 7.1 or Hi Res on console. So I wouldn't buy it for PlayStation

3) Any chance you could make a video to cover recommendations for affordable gaming wireless headsets that can also be used for conferencing and home office?. I personally find the Jabra, Plantronics and those "Business grade" ones overpriced for what they are and I'm looking for one affordable wireless gaming headset that I can also use as a daily driver for conferencing with good mic quality.
Thanks again for all of your reviews!!
This mic quality is legendary.
This is a fantastic review for what seems a fantastic headset.
Such an in-depth and detailed review that it's convinced me to buy one, following my VOID mic being ripped off by toddler...
No more problems like that in future - this mic is detachable! hahaha
when you go to change the colour turn the dial it shows to a darker version and it dims it
Thanks so much for this. Had to do some fat searching for your video but I've been looking for a solid comparison between the two headset editions microphones. I wasnt expecting getting more than 30 seconds of it.
Alas I don't have the SE to be able to compare.
Basically,
Pros:
Great sound quality (very clear), mic quality (this easily surpasses any gaming headset at the moment), build quality (looks very sturdy and durable) and software option.
Cons:
Uncomfortable for most people, why? (this is for small/medium head otherwise uncomfortable for big head/ears), wired usb is awkwardly placed (making noise when touching you), lastly you MUST use the software for any changes such as EQ or going 7.1 surround.
Did you just do a TL;DW on my video?
any gaming headset or any wireless gaming headset?
just wanna ask how about the audio quality? does it much better than any steelseries at its same price point? bydaway nice review detailed and informatic enough
Listening to this video in the back-round and I kept wondering why Henry Cavill is reviewing Corsair headsets.
Wow. That's one heck of a compliment, if only I was as good looking too.
Hey prawn, I finally got this headset and I am super happy, it's so comfortable for me and it sounds better then my turtle beaches, also the microphone is fantastic and good for streaming, one of the best headsets I've ever owned
That's great to hear! (See what I did there). Glad you're enjoying it! :)
Best headphones ever Corsair and over does it over the other headphones this year
This is it. This is the guy. How have i never heard of you 😂😭. Very well polished and professional review. Absolutely love it :v. Got a new sub 🔥
Much appreciated!
The one thing that blew my mind really is how the mic sounds so good, much more better than the SE version. But its a shame that my ears hits the side walls and its annoying and uncomfortable
Yup. Same. Real shame.
if you plug in an aux cable from your phone while in wireless or usb mode you can stream audio from your phone that way.

Brightness can be changed under the Settings area in iCUE
Yeah someone else pointed that out. Not sure how I missed it.
Really helps me to make a choice for the right product, thanks alot!
You can change the brightness with the white ring around the colour palette in iCue software.
Decent headset had pros and Cons
Cons: My ears got too warm with the Pleather material, the audio had some issues when using the equalizer (The sound seemed to be compressed but then compensated and sounded too loud in the areas you turn down in the equalizer), The earcups would sit on my ears and felt uncomfortable (Probably due to the non oval earcups, and more of a circular shape.)
Pros: Premium build, RGB goodness, Detachable Mic, Wireless)
Conclusion: Returned after a few days, testing Razer Blackshark V2 Pro.
Thanks
That's just how it sounds.
Did you try the SE version? Is it true the non SE microphone is better?
Great video nice review I'm hoping to get the white ones by next Friday from Amazon
Enjoyed this! Great calming voice and great review too. I personally am looking at steelseries arctis pro wireless.

Yup. Same. Shame isn't it.
My local bestbuy had the se version that I tried out. Based on this wonderful review and my limited usage, I really like these...but I got 2 questions. Does it work well with a ps4 pro? And is it still worth it despite the slight discomfort? Or just find something else?
sinnerslight
Very worth it. I have it, and I have sub-large ears. They are kindaaa uncomfortable after like 3-5 hours but it is pretty breathable. But despite the uncomfortableness the surround sound and great mic makes up for it.
@@qwertyuiop1854 thank u for the reply. Guess I'll go to my local bestbuy and get it there since they're having a sale right now
Even now? Usually headphones are tight when they are new and loosen up after a while.
hello! did you try the corsair virtuoso SE too? Cause I heard that the microphone of the VIRTUOSO is better. Thank you!
I did not, but I know someone that did and his mic was fine. The difference between the SE and standard in the old videos was fixed with a firmware update.
@@TheProvokedPrawn oh, thank you! :)
How do the ear cup depth compare to the corsair HS60's?
The microphone on this thing is nuts.
Is that raw recording, or did you do some post processing shenanigans to this video?
Also, I wish you'd do a demonstration of wired vs. wireless.
Im not a fan of having a rope on my head, so id like to hear what im missing if I go wireless.
I probably normalised levels, but that's it. Good feedback though, I'll have to consider that in future.
You can turn off voice prompts in ICue btw
Excellent video!
Great review.
Does it work wirelessly with Nintendo switch via usb Audio?
ERM not something I could try but I doubt it.
@@TheProvokedPrawn let me know if you discover something ;) thanks in advance!
Great Review! Would the Virtuoso gain better improved audio quality from connecting to a Dac/Amp using the 3.5mm jack or from the 24bit/96KHz audio from the USB cable? Sorry for the specific question. Thanks
I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that. I'd suggest asking Corsair.
Hey Provoked Prawn great review, just curious on what your eq settings are for the Corsair Virtuoso’s? Thanks in advance.
I'm afraid I used the default settings and simply set it to 96Khz in Windows

I saw this on sale and so I came to youtube to find reviews. First, I clicked on your channel because I love the name "The Provoked Pawn". All I can think of is those early games of chess as a boy when I'd corner my opponents Rook or Knight and take it with a Pawn and thing "yah boi, get wrecked"..... That's all I came to say. Also, nice review. Bought these for $69 refurbed on amazon.
Prawn, not pawn 😂🤣 thanks for watching though
@@TheProvokedPrawn sorry In my rush to take kids to school I left that part out. I REALIZED it was Prawn which made it all the funnier when i put my glasses on . LOL,
ive heard that this standard versions mic is much better than the special editions version, do you have any experience with this?
I've heard a firmware update fixed that. A friend had the SE version and his mic was great
@@TheProvokedPrawn cool! thanks for the fast reply pal
@@kgraebes88 no worries
did you do any post (not on the fly via the blue software) processing to remove the hiss? Almost all other reviews has this grainy hiss on their mic test. Best.
I didn't realize that you were using it wired... Could that be the reason?
I might have normalised the levels but I wouldn't have cleaned the sound as I want people to hear the legit audio. As for hiss I didn't notice any I believe.
I know I am late to the party, but are the cushions changeable?
Also, how did you make the mic so clear? It doesn't sound as clear with other reviews.
Apparently you can get them off by twisting them off. As for the mic, that's how it was, I didn't do anything special.
@@TheProvokedPrawn Wow, I did not expect such a quick response, let alone a response at all. I read that was possible after asking, but the research about putting better cushions on is a different story (aka nothing easy/without voiding warranty).
Noted about the mic, thank you.
Hi great review, just wondering if they come as stereo or 7.1 as default. Thanks in advance
Stereo with 7.1 turned on via iCue but that only works on PC
really good and full review ty can u try the se version please
Alas I cannot. They didn't have any samples to send me. I'm not as important as other reviewers.
@@TheProvokedPrawn But your review is better than a lot of other reviewers... life is unfair...
You're my favourite person today. Thanks for the kind words. Hope you enjoyed enough to subscribe. Then one day I'll be able to review more :)
I was so sad when I found out I couldn't connect these to my phone through bluetooth ..... ☹️
Hardware Canucks made a surprising point: The SE version has a larger mic that sounded a lot worse! That is deeply confusing, in their review you could hear the sound was a lot messier, wired or not. Listening to this, the regular small mic sounds absolutely excellent.
Yes but apparently that issue has been fixed with a firmware update.
On a more serious note, would you recommend this over the Arctis Pro Wireless?
is this mic audio out of the box? or is it a bit of post processing?
I might have normalised the levels but beyond that it's standard.
@@TheProvokedPrawn i sent this video to one of my friends and they just wanna ditch their streaming mic, lmao
Did you use any software to adjust the sound of the mic?
No
As of 2020 are there any 24-bit/96kHz lossless low latency wireless headphones?
Do you know how many inches it is of the inside the ring/hole? Just wounding cause my ears my be fine. I know you were saying it was tight for you. I just don’t want to skip buying this headset if only because of guess thinking if your ears aren’t comfortable mine will not. I feel like everything else I like about it.
Unfortunately I didn't mention it but if you look at other comments on my videos you'll see it's not just me.
Hey mate, was this audio completely raw from the mic or had you applied EQ to it?
I possibly normalised it (so there were no peaks) but otherwise it was untouched :)
Assuming the ear cups fit you, the base model virtuoso is the best bang for buck mid-high gaming headset imo.
How does this mic compare to the SE mic?
The SE is meant to be superior. It had problems initially that were fixed with firmware updates. However I've not actually tried it so can't comment 100%.
If you are just buying products, you can switch profiles using other corsair products, like the k70 keyboard, which has a button for it
Thanks for the video, was very handy but was wondering, if it matters what type of USB-C cable is used for the headset? You see I'm also finding the braided cable annoying as it rubs on my clothes so wanted to buy a rubber coated one but I'm not sure if I need a specific cable with a certain data transfer capability or whether any old cable is fine.
It probably needs to be able to send data yes. I used a USB-C to USB-C cable, but I suspect a phone charging USB-C cable would work too as they often are able to pass data so you can copy photos and such.
@@TheProvokedPrawn yeah that's the problem, I don't have a phone charger so was gonna buy the cheap Amazon cable but I don't know if it would be capable hahaha
i have a question? is the cord available on the box and slipstream wireless? thanks!

Thanks for the tip!
I've not had that issue.
Is there still an issue with the SE mic being worse then the normal? I am considering getting the SE version but I dont like the idea of paying more for the worse mic
. I've heard the issue is caused by the software.
Afraid I don't know the answer as I never got to try the SE
How do i charge this thing? When i put the usb cable in the corsair logo turns on white. Like its on, i dont get it haha!

What is the top headset you would recommend? I've tried the Arctis Pro and ended up being total garbage. It was extremely tinny sounding, had zero bass, and just wasn't good at all. That's just my experience though.
