Awesome song and music video! Props to Tawny Kitaen (who married lead singer David Coverdale a couple years later in 1989), too, for her automobile dancing! :-)
@Dahoss I haven't seen a recent picture of her, but not surprised. I knew that she had a pretty bad drug problem for a while, but declined to bring it up.
This is one of the most iconic rock videos of the 80's. Reacting to this song only, without the official video, would have NOT been allowed under any circumstances.😉
Thank you! Will you help me? Ive been commenting below the songs by Ambrosia! Maybe we, together, can make it happen! 😁: Please react to Ambrosia (How Much I Feel, Biggest Part of Me, or You're The Only Woman)
Rumor has it that David Coverdale sang the entire album in one take! I remember Still of the night playing at an eighth grade dance, my wife and I still think it's one of the sexiest songs ever recorded!
Isn’t it wonderful now, that you have seemingly an endless treasure trove of decades , DECADES of various artists, styles and genres. You will witness the birth of music videos, a game changer in the music industry and in the way we enjoyed music. I am so excited for you and look forward to you taking us on this journey.
Interesting fun fact is that I guess this song can be called a cover. It was still by Whitesnake but the original goes back to 1982. They covered their own song and for the better in my opinion.
I was in love with the girl in this song. her name is tawny kitaen. she was a small time actor that made a few movies but she was mostly known for being in white snake videos and she actually married david coverdale, the lead singer of white snake.
I had to pause midway. I specifically remember that 1987 was the year I first started to listen to the radio, and I listened to two stations that were "rock" mostly. I remember at first being so confused - there was REM, U2, UB40 - I didn't know what any of those names meant. But I eventually caught on, and those bands are now indelible to me (even UB40 - I had my first slow dance to one of their songs). There's much to laugh at from '80s "culture" - the goofy clothes, especially - but much of the music still hits us, even when its overly produced cheese - the children of the era still remember how that music accompanied so many "firsts" or "important" moments. I'm glad, JB, that you seem to be finding joy as a young man in some of the things that I found joy in as a kid. Keep on it, brother!
Love your reaction to this. So genuine. You really are an old soul. David Coverdale fronted Deep Purple for a while back in the mid 70's. Whilst most don't consider that incarnation of Deep purple to be as good as the classic line-up, they had some great songs. "Stormbringer" is a fantastic mid 70's powerful rock song.
Oh man, I forgot how much i wanted Tawny's big glorious red hair! 😍😄 Too much fun reliving this one, it's been a minute. And what a cute thing that y'all redid this for your school, love hearing that ☺ Can't wait to see you with your 🎸!
Ahhh...White Snake...brings back a lot of memories!! There was a nightclub that my buddies and I went to every Wednesday night in the mid 1980's for Rock-'n'-roll Night! One of my golfing buddies was the DJ from 9 pm until Midnight...then the local Rock-'n'-roll FM Station's On-Air personalities took over for the next two hours. The 5 of us had some darn good times...great music and lots of smoking hot gals in their 20's to dance with!
Since you liked this, you should try Still Of The Night, Slow N. Easy & Slide it in. The lead singer called the songs "the complications of copulations!".
I remember asking what the name of this band was more than once. They were the backup for another band, I thought REO, but when I looked it up they backed up Jethro Tull. That makes sense, because I also saw AC/DC, and they backed up for both, so it was one of those. I knew some of the songs they played. I now think it was Jethro Tull, because I saw them later than AC/DC, and I knew a lot of their music. Back then, they could not fill a Chicago venue on their own, they were more popular in the UK. I suppose I'm giving my age away!
Hi again James, have you yet reacted to skid row? I think you will love Sebastian Bach's voice. I would love to watch you listen to I remember you. and then see him 20 or 30 years later singing a country song called battle with the bottle that he just put out a few years ago. I again thank you so much for letting me come along on your journey of musical discovery. I am loving it.
I was also a big Smallville fan during it's original run. A show I liked even more was Buffy the Vampire Slayer back in the 90's. Have you ever seen it? If not, I recommend you catch it somewhere.
Hey hon!! Here’s another song you will really love! It’s SO BEAUTIFUL!! It’s by Sherriff called “WHEN IM WITH YOU “. You’ll love love love it!!! Also still want you to listen to Dream Academy “LIFE IN A NORTHERN TOWN “. Such an amazing song. And Mike and the Mechanics “THE LIVING YEARS “. “SILENT RUNNING “ is really good too. Love your channel! I’m an 80’s child through & through! ❤️
Hey JBL. Did you watch Crisis on Infinite Earths? It was AMAZING! Had a great little scene with Clark and Lois from Smallville. Smallville was my favorite show, when it was on.
Try Etta James, "At Last, " "Misty Blue," "I'd Rather Go Blind." Grandpa Elliott, "Stand By Me/Playing for Change/ Song around the world." (Type in the whole thing.) It'll lift you up. Man the joy on your face was so pure and made me smile as well cause I recognize the feeling of discovering/rediscovering kickass rock. Love seeing people discovering their inner rockers, I myself have been discovering so many hidden gems these last couple of years and I realized just how much I love the 70's-90's hard rock and metal. Just a tip if you want to hear some of the nastiest and rawest guitar tones in your life then listen to XYZ - Face down in the gutter. It's one of those hidden gems that should have been a hit but went under the radar since Grunge music was replacing hard rock at the time, but it's a killer song that gets you super hyped and it's a given in the gym. Keep up the good work my man!
David Coverdale got a lot of criticism back then for trying a bit too hard to be like Robert Plant. But there's no denying what a great voice he had in his own right. Always loved his voice including when he was with Deep Purple.💙
I didn't like him in Deep Purple only because he doesn't have Ian Gillan's range, especially the high register obviously, which I consider essential to Deep Purple, but I still rate Coverdale well inside the top 10 greatest rock vocalists of all time.
@@ChristopherStendeck I saw Deep Purple in concert back in '72 when Ian Gillan was still with them. So Coverdale was definitely an adjustment for me. Agree completely about Gillan's high range. I already loved him on the original "Jesus Christ Superstar" album even earlier so I really hated it when he left Purple. But Coverdale grew on me. Agree with your ranking. Edit: Also saw Robert Plant 3 times with Zeppelin & 6 times throughout his solo career. I usually found myself comparing people with him over the years. Hard to beat back in those days.
Great reaction. Isn't it an amazing feeling when a song that you don't even think you know brings back old memories? When you learn to play guitar you should also try to learn music theory, a lot of people skip the theory, but it will make you a much better player.

I commented on the other white snake you posted and this may have gotten buried. Funny story: the lead singer married this woman from the video. She used to beat him when she got drunk so they divorced. The band name white snake is a reference to his big wiener. Anyways she remarried a major league pitcher and when he was playing against the Chicago White Sox they played this song to mess with him when he came out to pitch from the bullpen. Trolling at its finest!
The girl in the video is Tawny Kitaen who, at one point, was married to the professional baseball player Chuck Finley. In 2002, she was arrested for domestic violence for repeatedly kicking him with her stilettos.
I´d rarely tell someone to react to the same song twice, but you should check out the early days version as well. Same song, but with a much different groove to it. It hasn´t got Tawny Kitaen, though.
