Hi Catherine, I am from a small town very close to Lucca, when I was little I used to take Sunday trips to Lucca with my parents, this video makes me SO nostalgic! Now I live in the US.. I get homesick often! I am glad you got to take this trip with your loved ones :) I hope you had the best time & made some wonderful memories!

Lucca is the birthplace of the world renowned composer Giacomo Puccini. You could have visted his birth house.
Yessss we did see a statue of him while we were there! Maybe next time we can do that! 🥹🌸
During our trip to Lucca we stopped at a beautiful square: Piazza dell'Anfiteatro. I fell in love with the place.
Also we walked over the wall surrounding the city, which they changed into a very long park, ideal for walking and relaxing.

Yes, Piazza dell'anfiteatro is the most renowned attraction in Lucca. It's an abandoned "coliseum" which was built upon and became an oval square surrounded by houses.
It's a pity you missed it.
A good reason to go back (with a guide, maybe? 😉😄)...

We spent a month in Italy and only got to spend a couple hours in Lucca. We got off the train and stored our luggage and then walked around and got back on the train. Lucca and Orvieto were the two towns we want to go back to.

My mother used to live in Bagni Di Lucca which is in the province of Lucca.I remember when George Michael performed in the amphitheatre and the best place to buy ice cream was owned by a guy from Sheffield.😅

If you ever end up back the walls are really nice to walk around and also the anfiteatro is amazing and Piazza San Michele is also nice
