I actually would’ve preferred if this was the only time he shows concern for her, Frank rarely ever does and should’ve just been extremely cold to her until this scene, and Amy spent all season being afraid of him and wondering if he actually does care about her or is only keeping her alive because he just sees her as a means to an end, so it would’ve been more than rewarding seeing Amy run to the big bad Punisher in tears

Yeah, I love how it's a mix of emotions. From empathy, sadness, and realization. But also worry because he sees that John will fight to the bitter end no matter what and that Amy is in danger for sure.
I liked John from the beginning. Grant it he annoyed the hell out of me pretty much all season but I understand why he was doing it. I loved the outcome these two had.
there was a father to father look of understanding and respect between John and Frank, Frank understands and respects where John is coming from to the core...Hell he wouldn't respect John if he did anything less than try to kill Frank in order to save his kids.
0:37 - 0:46 That lump in the throat gave me shivers. Bernthal owns every scene. He can give you a ton of information about what Frank is thinking, feeling, or about to do with just a little twitch during this season. He is flawless, the rawest interpretation of the character we will ever see.
I love both Jon Bernthal and Giorgia Whigham's acting in this scene, they really do an amazing job at creating a father/daughter dynamic the audience can care about that is on the same level as Joel and Ellie from the Last of Us. At this point in the season, Frank basically now views Amy as his daughter when he tells John he'd do anything for his children if he had the chance to save them which he never got and that he would do the same for her. It was also so heartwarming to see Amy run to hug Frank as she was sobbing, she found a father in him.

Pilgrim is a hell of a beast. Toe-to-toe with Frank, you gotta respect that. Also his motivations are pretty solid. He came to a point where he's fighting for what he still can call "world."
If I was The Punisher after hearing that, I would form an alliance with John. Because even if they are my enemies, the kids have done nothing wrong. Also, when it comes to; "Why did you say that name?" Thor (hearing the name Thanos) : Don't say that name! In that moment, we knew what Marvel was getting at there.

If youre old enough to remember bruce lee his fights were typical chinese choreography ,, his fight victims all were starting to turn or fall as the punches were thrown and too many trampolines bernthal sells a fight scene like no other actor ever has..
The moment John tells him his reason, Frank's was nervous at first because he's dealing with a determined father like himself. John then asked Frank the "what would you do" question to see if they're on the same page. This gives them understanding of each other and opens up dialogue. Frank appeals to John's understanding of losing loved ones hoping John was still a decent human being to not use hostage. And it worked. Like everyone else said. Respect between fathers.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Frank saw Amy as a daughter. There was one scene when Amy spoke about his daughter would be driving him crazy if she was still around. Ol' Punisher acted like a tough guy with Amy all the way up until the end when she hugged him and he started to tear up.
I really liked the villian had personality at this point , he was also fighting his demons like frank and this moment of mutual recognition between these two was one of the best moments in punisher Season , so good and unspoken power of good writing 👏👏
Frank was getting ready to verbally tear John apart but once John told him that they have his sons his entire demeanor changed in a instant Frank knew that he’d kill anyone to save his kids and to save Amy he’d do what John do and so he knew that this fight would probably be the hardest for him
What I love about this is that Frank goes in ready to bust heads, but the moment he hears this poor guy isn't evil, just trying to save his sons, he cools off, he looks for another way, because he knows how the guy feels. He knows they're basically the same, for the same reasons, so he de-escalates, looks for a solution that doesn't make them enemies.

John is such a tragic character. He was brainwashed and manipulated into thinking that he was gods righteous soldier from the moment he was bred into this world. The people he fought for were a bunch of lying sacks of shits and hypocrites who beat the shit out of him for failure but let their darling boy David slide off of their beliefs. His wife dying, and children being captive didn’t do much more good to his soul either. He and Frank are literally two sides of a coin.
The look on Frank's face when Pilgrim says they have his son's is pure emotion. His demeanor changes... I knew he wasn't gonna kill him if he didn't absolutely have to.
I always knew John and Frank wouldn’t kill one another due to John suffering Bc all he wanted was to be with his family. Being away from them was hurting him more than any bullet ever did. I saw a bit of Frank in him when it came to his children. Frank would’ve done the same if he had the chance to save his kids and he shows that by saving Amy who he loves like a daughter. Season 2 was a masterpiece.

You know there were things I was expecting that never happened like for example I thought Frank was going to retrieve his wedding ring somehow and I expected Frank to have at least try to find out about the status of I forgot her name but the bar chick from the beginning of the season and also I was expecting Billy and Pilgrim to team up but not even one confrontation lol also I believe Amy never mentioned to Frank what she had in her backpack/computer at first I thought that was what they were after.
sucks that this is a unique scene Like its genuinely rare I root for the antagonist in equal measure to the protagonist, but its all he deserves, Frank is a good man who does a lot of bad things, in this situation I can easily imagine Pilgrim to be the anti-hero all things considered but its so unfortunately rare for these kinds of situations to come up in media and be presented well; usually the "anti-hero" is just the director's justice-boner in human form against the "sympathetic villain" who had one thing bad happen to him and now eats babies.
John Pilgrim here is like a Frank Castle who tries to prevent what happening to his family which shows how much Frank Castle would have been desperate and went through to prevent his family death
