Seeing those sick reload and shooting animations back in 2009 was mind-blowing asf. Especially in comparsion to the very basic anims from L4D2 that was released a few months later.
One thing I really like is the characters interacting with eachother. Asking if they have enough money or if they are holding up alright which gives them actual character and humanity. The only other games I've really seen this in is stuff like left 4 dead and the cod zombies crew
I remember seeing a copy of killing floor in a game store when I was a kid. I was so fascinated by it but didn’t have anything to play it on but I imagined what it was about
In "Killing Floor 1" you can run faster by equipping a knife. So Survivalist perk in "Killing Floor 2" feels to me like reference to the first game (it has trait that ups movement speed, when melee weapon is equipped). I think, original Counter-Strike worked the same way. And about cloths. They have ability to hold player in place, which makes them very dangerous to ignore, when trying to avoid heavy-hitting zeds.
I like the 1st more than the 2nd. Also, class composition of your team did heavily matter in KF1 on higher difficulties (suicidal and above), hard is basically the 'usual/normal' difficulty, but there is a big leap between hard and suicidal. Mainly, ammunition issues per wave, so berserkers matter a lot more.
Controversies not mentioned in the video: - KF2's counter-strikey skin system and too many too expensive weapon dlcs - KF3 goes hero shooter route where each character is a "specialist" with it's own boosts and abilities, which kinda locks them to a specific playstyle.
One thing I really like about kf2 is that the seasonal cosmetic tickets are like .03 cents (and you need 5 to make a cosmetic), so I put like $10 on my steam account and now have a TON of cosmetics. It feels really good compared to dropping $10 on another game for one mid skin
i just started playing killing floor 1 today coming from killing floor 2 and im glad its getting some attention, only played for a while but i like the difficulty it has and how cooperative most players are.
to some forcing to fight a mindless horde as London falls to chaos may seem like a horrible event for everyone involve, but to the locals... it was just another Monday.
Well being honest after I learned about KF III ditched the class system in favour of character based gameplay with ults and restricting the gun selection to the classes I am a bit sceptical about picking it up
There's a new video that says the opposite of what you said about the class system being a good thing, saying that tripwire is going further with that idea and that that will kill KF3, which I agree with. Tying weapons to classes is for hardcore players, but KF is for casuals. I think the dev team got infiltrated by hardcores. It's like they learned nothing from quake, and if they disagree, then they shouldn't lie about their reasoning.

How's the scrake ranked higher in danger level than the fleshpound in kf1??? The fleshpound in kf1's rage phase lasts literally forever. And kf1's scrakes take literally 1 headshot from the crossbow, well if you're a high enough level sharpshooter
i dislike the direction of killing floor 3 with its atmosphere, i loved the first game because it had more horror elements, the graphics are not impressive but i almost never notice the quality of the visuals because the atmosphere of the game. I loved the slower pace of the first game because it truly felt like you were holding out against a horde of zombies and it further pushed that horror atmosphere. now with killing floor 3 its just another generic future look. when i heard that kf3 will be marketed to broader audiences I felt disappointed because many things that make killing floor special are being cut. classes are gone and now we have hero shooter system in the game. they should stop looking at what other games are doing and start taking risks, as well as the rest of the gaming industry.
@@Herytik there are a abundance of hero shooters on the market that are horrible because they are unoriginal, I'm getting tired of the exact same system and seeing this is just another red flag that makes me worried for kf3. yeah i guess we will have to see after the game comes out if the hero system is garbage but I don't have high hopes.

Killing Floor was the first Horde Shooter, it invented the genre. The original mod was released in 2005 for Unreal Tournament 2004. You can thank Killing Floor for every Zombie/Horde shooter made after the fact.
Correction. Killing Floor 1 & 2 is not good. It WAS good. They ruined it with the live service adding bloatware updates riddled with cosmetics (that are paywalled), not to mention the pay to win weapons in those 2 games.
And..? The cosmetics just make you look flashy and even if they add guns that cost real money its their way of making some money otherwise they have to shut down servers
@@kaidthedude7668 It bloats up the game file size, that's the issue and on top of it, the practice itself is greedy and unacceptable. Even if they shut down their servers doesn't really matter since people would host their own servers anyways.
It's not even that. As a new player to both I noticed in lower difficulties that in fact, the scrake could be kited really easily because he lacks any resistance to bullets while being slow and able to get stunned, unlike the fleshpound. The fleshpound also one shots you in KF1
@@4x13x17 true, at least you can manage the rage of fleshpound in KF 1 by baiting attacks that hit the air or losing line of sight. You don't get to do those in KF 2 but you've got other ways to deal with like parrying.
It seems to me that Killing Floor 1 has resurfaced, I've seen they've started talking about it, I'm quite happy.

the developers didnt need to go further for a post apocaliptic city, so they just based all the maps in the UK, saves budget
They ditched the class system in KF3 and it angers me so much !
I think they still have classes, you just can’t change your character

Timeless FPS, aged better than L4D2 that also came out in 2009 and it's COD Zombies done right.
