  • Why aren't my players having fun? Why aren't I having fun? Who the heck is Walter Mitty?
This week I explore the four different types of roleplayers, and why they have different expectations in a game. Whether you're just sitting down to a #tabletopgaming #rpg like #dnd, or #larping in full kit and costume, here's some advice for making sure everyone's having a good time.

I love these RP personality descriptions!
Also can I say that I appreciate all of the different references for these names? These are great!

I’m an Edgar but I would say a lot of my friends tend to be lucys. I’m not much of a Lucy myself, but I can still have fun in a sillier game. I remember in a game I played there was a masquerade ball, and my harengon wizard went to the ball dressed as a bunny. On the outside it seems like a brilliant piece of humor, but in reality it tied to her issues with identity. I have my characters do silly things for serious reasons.

I'm just here to appreciate the inclusion of "or those of my houseplants." 🤣
OK, well, technically, I am also here to appreciate this taxonomy! Well done, well explained, and EXCELLENT choices for the illustrative background photography!

Die a Lucy or live to become the Walter.

Edgar here with flairs of Walter. I am very much a Johnny in TCGs. Wanting to experience and do unique things with both the character and the world. Being an exception in success or failure means a lot. Dying without a meaningful scene would be my worst nightmare.

Chronic Edgar here and it has led to a lot of very fun, very tragic, very talked about In-Character losses in my time. I've loved every single one of them.

Fantastic video! Really helps me as a storyteller to think about hitting all four quadrants of my players’ styles and to build in creative opportunities for each play style to shine in my LARP mods.

My DnD campaign has tried to turn a bunch of Lucys and Serenes into Edgars...
If my players don't hate the end of our campaign , they'll have this video to thank 🤣

I thought Walter was going to Walter White from Breaking Bad. He’s the player that just wants to cook, by which I mean do complex and unusual things that can have big impact if they work. Best approach to a Walter White? LET HIM COOK.
