  • Hi Folks. Today I finally fix an issue with the Cutlery draw on our Sprite Caravan. This has bugged us both for Years. This issue may apply to other Caravans.
    Thanks Phil.

    Good morning, so glad to have watched this, as we also have a Sprite with the same issue, so guess what I'm doing the next time we go away, cheers Mark

    Hi Phil, Nice simple fix sir. I had a very similar problem with several drawers in my Elddis but discovered the runners were just a bit sticky in the centre All in the same place for some reason.. A firm tug and they would come out but a quick squirt with silicon and they opened all the way with ease. Your runners look very similar

      Hi Thanks for watching. All the other draws a fine. This Draw had the runners set wrong in the channel. I recorded this video last year. We have used since and it has worked fine. I think the template at manufacturing could be adjusted a bit. Glad you sorted your runners out. thanks again Phil🙂👍

    Hi Phil. Great little fix. Sometimes the manufacturers are a bit blinkered to what we need space wise as the consumer. It's now a perfect compromise to what swift gave you before and without any problems for the future. Hope they take it on board. Cheers Paul and Sarah

      Very true! Paul. They have a set template to work to and it will never change it's how they all work. I very much doubt they will ever view this video at all but one can hope. Thanks Phil👍🙂

    Phil, we have a Swift and this is driving us mad too! I tried your suggestion and thanks for the post but in my case, it didn't work. I found that one of the runners wouldn't extend much further even though I followed your instructions, so I had to investigate. The range of the runners depends on the position of the roller balls that fit in between the 2 parts of the runners, this can be adjusted and give you even further range (though it does mean completely removing them). I feel a part 2 coming on here! ;-). Keep up the good work, Regards Mike

    Hi Phil we had the same problem with ours BUT discovered if you gently pull the draw it comes out further, the draw was sticking on the runners giving you the impression that it only opened around 10cm.
    We discovered our friends had the exact same problem on their Swift van..

      Hi Howard, It would appear that most Folks with a Swift have this issue. Mine was not a case of being stiff. I am just happy that it is now fixed after 5 years. Thanks Phil🙂👍

    Probably a design fault that should have been picked up on the prototype caravan Phil. You would have thought the person fitting draws would have raised it as an issue. A swift fix to a Swift problem 😀. All the best, Rob & Gail

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rob. I think the Folk that build them don't caravan so they would not think the same way as an Owner. It's my own fault I have been moaning about it for Years. Problem and moaning now solved. Thanks Phil👍👍

    Neat fix, I wonder if it was a design error or a build fault. Only Swift will know.

    Why was it ever restricted to start with? I don’t get their reasoning for doing that?

    • @lostweekendscaravan

      Hi David. I have no idea at all but is it a poor build. Remember those who design caravans don't own one? Thanks for watching. Phil👍🙂

      We had the exact same issue on our 2017 6TD. Our drawer ended up not closing either as the support the hinges are attached to became loose and screws started falling out! I had to do a similar diy job with new screws, wood and superglue. It was defo lada design and build quality around that time with these drawers!
