      Gentlemen, you have struck the good bell, but you are pulling the wrong strings. This engine is great when it comes to lightness, maybe toyota had a mishap with bad rings on the cylinders in 2006 because of which the engine took oil, but they fixed it and it is a solid construction. It's not about you doing projects like toyota chr faster with this engine than lambo avantador or scion tc chr rado. However, as you say yourself, there are a lot of these engines, there are just as many tuning parts as the exhaust manifold, intake manifold, you can also see the porting of the head, stroker, intake, sharp shafts... It's nice that you do a turbo, but it's another turbo, it's better to increase the engine power mechanically and test before and after each shift to check the real potential of the engine than to artificially increase the engine power by the turbo. And also, at the beginning, what to do to make the engine regain the power it once had.

I ended up hitting a tree head on, spun 90 degrees and rolled several times in a paddock 😂 Young and dumb, BUT I swear what helped is the boxy shape as it rolled pretty well and landed wheels down. So True story. At work we had one of those "social team building" BS days where we all had to write a bunch of things on paper and then discuss.
    One of the questions was "what is your dream car". I picked my boy hood dream pin up Viper GTS coupe. (An actually awful car to drive/own I've been told...).
    There were the usual "Ferrari Scuderia" "Lambo Aventadoor" type things. but then 3 People all put "Toyota RAV4" The lady presenting was blown away, like WTF?.
    It turns out a bunch of the Phillipino people in our team all LOVE that car, and all have totally achievable dreams of owning one. I have never been more humbled than seeing my friend say he had saved up enough money to actually buy one soon...
    This story has no moral or whatever, but Godamn it hit hard when that happened, and really put life in perspective.

    I own a 2003 crv. Its a k24a1 with a 5 speed, all wheel drive. It also has a gtx55, haltech elite 1500, billet viscous coupler, twin disc, i closed the decks myself, has some used billet rods with stock pistons i re ringed and added a bit more gap, locked the vtech actuator, did the fuel system up for e85 and i have an all wheel drive car with 500 horsepower that weighs 2800 pounds and i bought it for $400 because the timing chain slipped. I honestly didn't have to do anything but the timing gear the engine was totally fine when i opened it up. Yeah man id say either of the lightweight little all wheel drive SUVs have the potential to be super impressive. A buddy of mine has a pontiac vibe all wheel drive. It has a built destroked to 2.2 ecotec 2.4 with a big ass turbo the thing runs 175 mph no problem its super impressive and its an early 2000s pontiac. They didn't do anything right.

      @ChristopherHallett 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A GTX55? That's a MASSIVE turbo for that power output - that's assuming you have the smallest variant, an 85mm unit rated to ~1700 horsepower by Garrett. I bet if you swapped it out for a G30-770 (58mm) the difference in response would blow your mind.

    • @Zipppyart
      @Zipppyart 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Interesting choice to use an Ecotec on a Vibe. Those are basically Corollas underneath. Literally shares 90% with the Toyota Matrix!

    • @kelevra558
      @kelevra558 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Zipppyart $$$$$. Thats purely the reason behind the ecotec. In my 20+ years building cars ive found Toyotas are to hondas like fords are to Chevy. You can get a whoooole lot from a ford or a Toyota, but compared to a chevy or q Honda, ur gonna spend at least twice as much. But like they say, you get what you pay for. Im a die hard ford man. I was a Chevy kid all through high school and the Marines but ive always built hot rods. It took owning my own shop and building everything to become a Ford man. Built my first car with my dad which was a '74 nova with a high strung 383 stroker and a junkyard t56, before that him and i built his '69 big tire Impala with a mountain motor and twin 98's. Literally the setup the murder nova had back in the day. When i got out the corps in '17 i bought my automotive fabrication shop ive been doing that ever since. I build everything. From 1.5jz drift cars to big block pre runners and everything in between. Ive even built a few yamaha R6 and R1's. Thats the only sport bike ill put my trust in are Yamaha. Through everything, built Fords and built Toyotas, pound for pound, failure for failure, are the move if you want something thats gonna hurt feelings, scare the shit out of cute girls, actually make it back to the house, straight through pound town to squealsville. He built that little vibe for like 7 grand bro. All in. And it fux really hard for what it is. He just SMOKES C8 Corvettes by like 6 cars. My best friend's dad owns one he comes out with up on Wednesday nights and gets embarrassed by multi color shit boxes that make 600 all wheel hp.

    • @kelevra558
      @kelevra558 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ChristopherHallett I understand where ur coming from. But i do this for a living jack. Building cars is how i eat. Its actually what Garrett recommends for the application. Its a gtx55 600 gen 4. Its called a gtx55 600 because its good for 600hp. Which happens to be EXACTLY what that engine did. It makes 508 wheel on e50. Which is super impressive at 8,000 feet above sea level. It all depends on what you're doing with the car and where you live. I live in Reno, Nevada. My house sits at 7,700 feet. He has a dry stinger and rolling anti lag on the fuel tech so spooling isnt a problem. All he does is roll race on the freeway the car isn't good for anything else the roll center is shit, the wheelbase is shit, the subframes are weak, theres very little aftermarket support to remedy any of those issues. I know pretty much every k24a1 and a2 car ive built (which the count now is 4) we went with a gtx55. Now, not one of those cars are a street car. Theyre all strictly dig racing. One was a gen1 prelude, a crx, and 2 early 90s civic hatch. DX. I can appreciate the fact lag would be a thing in an application you're referring to. But these arent drift cars. These are super illegal street racing cars that have been re wrapped like 6 different colors and every single vehicle identification anything no longer exists. Its not because they're stolen, its because if we have to run and they run out of fuel or god forbid they break something and they have to get picked up and leave the car, if it does get found there's nothing tying it to the owner. Reno isn't a big city and street racing/drifting is really, really popular here. So it carries a damn serious sentence if you get caught. We don't risk that kind of shit. Thats why you'll never see a video on the Internet saying this is so and so from reno Nevada doing 204mph in his 700 awhp b5 s4. Because immediately they know, oh, hey whos that guy who owns that shop behind Capprioties? The guy with the super fast purple Audi? Yeah lets go have a chat with him.

I liked the car overall for it being very practical and having a T- Top and a hardtop on the back was fun on the not to hot summer days and evenings. Thanks to the 4x4 I was also able to pull people out of the ditch when they slid of the snow covered roads during wintertime. Only letdown was the engines ~115PS, that was always struggling in the Eifel mountains, especially when a trailer was attached.
    I sold it mostly because of the fuel consumption, back in a '94 Corsa (Barina) now and I'm actually happy about it. :)

    5:06 an external surge tank will solve that issue, it's a good way to upgrade your fuel system while leaving the tank assembly stock and easily reversible

    Had a 2002 Rav4 2-door. Installed a lift kit and some offroad tires. It was awesome! Sold it for a Caldina GT-Four 2004 model, but sometimes I miss the Rav4, it was care free and awesome.

    I put one of those extreme clutches in my old S14 200SX. The ~1/3 higher clamp load pressure plate and the cushion face sprung centre ceramic disc took a SHITLOAD of abuse and held strong for years, and it drove like a stocker.

    Return line mod ......man that remembers me ,how I did it on my Lexus IS200 ,which came with a tte supercharger......and originally the car has no return line,like the RAV4. Rank One made a kit ,with all items to get the job done.
    It was a bit tricky,but it worked out well . Now with bigger injectors and bigger pulley ,the car boost is raised from 0,35 to 0,6 and no issues :)

    • @lachlanhenry486
      @lachlanhenry486 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BobMonkeypimp good, first time I ever heard it and it is a good term. It makes sense. Maybe it's because I'm in the usa? We just have cars or trucks. Off road is never allowed on road, and on road never goes off road. So, something in between is neat. Like we can't even off-road a Ford raptor or a jeep. Those are still just road cars here. So "soft road" is just great!
