Maximum Overdrive? Anyone else remember? Emilio Estevez, semi trucks driving themselves. The entire movie was an AC/DC soundtrack with this song featured.
This song was part of the soundtrack for Maxumum Overdrive, based on a Stephen King book where machines come to life (who made who). Stephen King asked AC/DC to do the soundtrack
The song was in fact written as part of the soundtrack to Stephen King's 1986 movie Maximum Overdrive where Big Trucks come to life and take over humanity.
@@hurricane7479 , the "who made who" tour was my 5th acdc concert out of 12. I enjoyed every concert immensely. It's a shame I'd love to see one more. 🤘🤘
'Who made who' was recorded in 1986 - it was for the soundtrack for the Stephen King movie 'Maximum Overdrive' - the lyrics were taken from the movie plot: If technology suddenly turned against humans and machines came to life & start killing everyone... This music video was one of their first to make it on MTV because even after 'Back in Black' sold 12 million copies in 1980, AC/DC was struggling to sell records in 1985 (Their album 'Fly on the wall' in '85 only sold a half million copies) So, AC/DC released 'Who made who' in '86 w/ a batch of older songs as the 'Maximum Overdrive' soundtrack. The movie flopped... but the music video was a hit on MTV and the 'Who made who' release sold platinum... They decided to film a new music video for the 1980 song 'You shook me all night long'... and it became another hit on MTV (Angus & Malcolm Young both dressed as schoolboys... Brian Johnson on a date w/ a Playboy model 🤣) In 1988, AC/DC released the full new album 'Blow up your video'... and it sold platinum. It set the stage for the success of the 'Thunderstruck' single in 1990 from the album "The Razor's Edge"... which has sold 6x platinum to date. Top 10 AC/DC songs? Sheesh! OK... Top 10 w/ Bon Scott on vocals - 1) Highway to hell... 2) Let there be rock... 3) It's a long way to the top (If you wanna rock n' roll)... 4) T.N.T. ... 5) Girl's got rhythm ... 6) Whole lotta Rosie... 7) Problem child... 8) Dirty deeds done dirt cheap ... 9) Touch too much ... 10) Riff raff Top 10 AC/DC songs w/ Brian Johnson on vocals - 1) Back in black... 2) Thunderstruck... 3) You shook me all night long ... 4) Hells Bells ... 5) For those about to rock - we salute you... 6) Rock n' roll train ... 7) Heatseeker ... 8) Shake your foundations ... 9) Moneytalks ... 10) Who made who. FYI - Most AC/DC songs are about sex, booze, sleaze and rock n' roll... they are a party band for sure... But they often do come up w/ rare gems lyrically that stray from their formula... "Burnin' alive" was about the siege in Waco, Texas... "Hail Caesar" was a reference to Julius Caesar... 'The Furor' I believe was a stance against religious extremism... all from their 1995 album 'Ballbreaker'
Star Trek was also the 60s and inspired (foretold?) so much of what people take for granted today. When was the original Dr. Who? I used to love catching episodes late at night once in awhile when I was a kid. Lots of other examples as well. Technology and ideas don't just randomly appear out of nowhere. One thing leads to another eh? Kinda the point of this song...lol.😉
Ac/dc needs to play the Super Bowl before they all die off! That would be awesome! For those about to rock! Back in black! And a couple others would be a show!
The thing about "Big Balls" is they talking about "parties" but make it a double-ender that can be taken in a perverted way. This song was the title track for the album, which was the soundtrack for "Maximum Overdrive' that's about machines coming to life. You nailed this reaction....but we need "Big Balls!" 40!
Maximum Overdrive is a 1986 American horror film written and directed by Stephen King. The film has a mid-1980s hard rock soundtrack composed entirely by the group AC/DC (King's favorite band),
This whole album by the same name was the actual soundtrack to "Maximum Overdrive"! Song was about machines (A.I.) taking over. But the cause was alien induced brought on by the earth being in a comet!
From what I can remember the Top ACDC songs are Back in Black ThunderStruck Who made Who Hells Bells Highway to Hell (the label are the ones who gave them devil horns on album cover w/o ACDC knowledge) For those about to Rock- Shook you all night long Thats all I can remember right now
This song was included in the movie Maximum Overdrive that was based on a novel by Stephen King. AC/DC was his favorite band and all songs in the movie were songs by them.
The tour from this album was the only AC/DC show from 82 to 88 that we missed! Btw, we were driving in Alaska and stayed at a motel somewhere at a crossroads. There was a small restaurant there as well. We were walking to over to the restaurant and this song came on from the rooms above the bath house. So surreal at the time cuz the only thing you could get on the radio was country! This was late eighties!
Great reaction! I was one of 10 Angus Young lookalikes that because of this song met AC/DC and Stephen King in 1985 and was also on the speakers (dressed as Angus) for the beginning of this song in Toronto! This was the opening song. Cheers!
This was the best band to watch live. I started listening to them in 1979. I was nine years of age and we listened to the Back in Black album over and over again. This was Brian Johnson's first album with the band after the passing of Bon.
my friend Cosmo is chief lighting designer for ACDC. He also is head lighting engineer for Aerosmith, Slash and Judas Priest. And back in the early 80's when I was young and did martial arts I guarded rockstars and ACDC was one of the bands we guarded several times.
Hi 👋🏽 There’s an oldie but a goodie from my youth that I know you will definitely enjoy. The band is called Golden Earring, song is Radar Love. It has a very catchy sound & you will not regret it if you’ve never heard it previously.
Takes me back to my Junior year in high school, 1988. This was my song. I wore that cassette out cruising in Daddy’s old ton Dodge work truck in my little hometown in Southeastern Kentucky! Takes me back so strongly when I hear it!!
As others have noted, the song was written to be part of a movie soundtrack where machines apparently came to life and attacked people. But I agree with you that the lyrics go beyond that. Definitely some of the more thoughtful lyrics Brian wrote for AC/DC.
I saw them live in Toronto in front of 500,000 crazy Canadians and the ground literally shook all night long 😂 For those about to rock is a must my friend. Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
I love having sons, have a bunch of them, love to coach them in various sports. I have one rule, doesn't matter if you win, get blown out, whatever, if you're not smiling you're not playing the game right. No participation awards, nothing like that, you should be upset if you get rocked and lose, not the point. ACDC is always smiling, they're playing music right, that's their game and in my opinion why they're so wildly popular and appealing.
I use to listen to ac⚡dc all day And night as a teen like idk 14 😁 my Moms was so tired of it I had to use headphones with cassette tape.. Oh the Good Old Days 😊
1986. And at that time there was a lot of talk about duplication of life and cloning. I think it was around that time they cloned Dolly the sheep. Also in those days robots were being made and talked about if a robot could simulate a human.
Stephen King is a fan of the band so they worked out some songs for this movie. Another band King likes is Blue Oyster Cult. He got permission to use “Don’t Fear the Reaper “ for his movie “ The Stand” and he did the opening narration for their 1987 “Astronomy “ video.
I was traveling in Alaska in 1988...in the middle of nowhere. I stopped for the night at a restaurant/bath house that had cabins to sleep in. That evening I was walking toward the bath house and heard the beginning of Who Made Who of all songs! Very surreal to be sure.😂😂 Saw AC/DC 4 times in the 80's but missed this tour cuz I was sick.😢
First concert as a teen was AC/DC touring this Who Made Who album. As a 15 year old, I never paid attention to any lyrics. I’m 52 now and a Christian. I agree with you 100%! I KNOW who made me…I KNOW Jesus died on the cross and rose on the 3rd day. Praise God- all glory to Him🙌🏼
I had been a fan of ACDC during the 70s. Watching tv news getting ready ready for school, they were interviewing him for his newest book out about vampires, he said he liked ACDC, Ichise his newest book for my book report. Holy crap, you put on ACDC & start reading Stephen King
Another good AC/DC song to listen to is "FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK (WE SALUTE YOU)"! It's also on the movie soundtrack "Maximum Overdrive" people have mentioned. It's a good soundtrack BTW because it features AC/DC songs.
A song that will totally freak you out when you talk about being ahead of their time is Zager & Evans In the Year 2525., It was written in1964 and released in 1968
AC\DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, TnT, Rock n Roll Ain't Noise Pollution , Ride On, Night Prowler. Lets Get It Up, My all time favorite AC\DC song, For Those About To Rock, We Salute You. With AC\DC it's more about Favorite albums. Their albums are pretty much great all the way through. At least the Bon Scott years.
Want to freak yourself out? This was in the early 90s. This is the sound track to a movie called Maximum Overdrive. It starts with a meteor going by and somehow it omits a frequency that brings the vehicles alive. The Semis take over the truck stop they are working at and force the people to keep them running. So yes not quite AI but close
Yes, that’s the Big Balls we’re asking for (not how this sounds!). The lyrics are genius though, and if you aren’t familiar with anything other than the chorus, I think it’s worth your while.
yeah as they said its from a Steven King movie Maximum Overdrive is a 1986 . The Machines did come to life and the stars were trapped in a trucker diner because the 18 wheelers where alive.
BP probably put more thought into these lyrics, than any other AC/DC fan ever has. OOO AHH OOO! that's the hook and that's the song. Need that one song that made people go out and buy the album. There wasn't time to have deep thoughts lol. Oh! and a rocking guitar solo.
Blues you have to hear. This is Joe Bonamassa and Beth Heart in Amsterdam " Beth & Joe - Close To My Fire - Live From Amsterdam " you won't regret giving it a listen.
When this came out, as kids we would literally scream "Who made poo!" all the time, anywhere and everywhere. Is it bad that all these decades later i still find that funny?
Saw them in 87 and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen in my 57 years! This song was way ahead of its time and not something that we expected from our favorite beer drinking Aussies. So deep for the time.
Just came here to leave the same comment, that line always grabs me, it’s like when the class clown says something really profound out of nowhere and everyone does a double-take
That's the good thing about song writers. They can take something meant for one thing, in this case a movie. and it can be viewed various different ways. So many different tunes can have major significance to a time, place or era years later. I 've seen, love and own the movie. I got the same vibe from the song. Kinda takes you back to the Chicken or the egg. Which came first? Same philosophy.
The year after we did the Journey Tribute for Competition ( which was phenomenal, I've watched the performance videos 1000 times) . We did a show called Royals, Prince/Queen/James Brown/...Seeing my baby boy play 1999, with all his heart on that field Is one of the biggest joys..
I'm going to throw one out there that hardly anybody requests, and as far as I know, there hasn't been any reactions to, which is "Ride On." With all of their massive hits, you are going to find a lot of underrated and underappreciated AC/DC songs, and to me this has to be the biggest one. Slow blues at the highest level. Check it out because you will not be disappointed. I can guarantee that 100 percent.
Maximum Overdrive? Anyone else remember? Emilio Estevez, semi trucks driving themselves. The entire movie was an AC/DC soundtrack with this song featured.
The soundtrack was the best part of the movie because the movie was definitely not a blockbuster.
I still love to watch that movie. So bad and good at the same time
@worthlessfiat8516 I haven't seen it in decades, but I considered trying to find it & rewatch just to see if it was better than I remembered.
@@rebeccacurtis6680 I believe it's on Pluto tv and Amazon prime right now
Oh yes, I love that movie. It’s sucks… but ACDC soundtrack!! It’s based on a short story by Stephen King- “Trucks”. Even made a movie called “ Trucks”
This song was part of the soundtrack for Maxumum Overdrive, based on a Stephen King book where machines come to life (who made who). Stephen King asked AC/DC to do the soundtrack
Yeah I loved that sound tract
you mean maximum overdrive was a movie for this album
...And the soundtrack was the only worthwhile thing ABOUT the movie!
Just a slight adjustment, here:
This wasn't based on a King "book" (as in: a novel), but, rather, a short story [entitled: "Trucks"].
That's all.
The song was in fact written as part of the soundtrack to Stephen King's 1986 movie Maximum Overdrive where Big Trucks come to life and take over humanity.
I don't watch it that often, but the beginning of Maximum Overdrive always cracks me up. "This machine just called me an A**hole" 😂
Yes please do Big Balls and Dirty deeds done dirt Cheap.
The AC/DC movie "Maximum Overdrive " definitely a classic. Good song.
