Grazie, veramente!
While I was casting about on Christmas Eve for something pleasant to listen to, I happened upon these exquisite Concerti Grossi by the masterful Locatelli. Listening to these highly wrought performances has suffused my spirit with the true joy of Christmas; as well as, appreciation for the vast effort of Brilliant Classics to amass such a compilation and lastly and most beneficently the players, whose tender sensibilities render this such an enchanting experience. A most Merry Christmas and benedictions to everyone!
In a world so dense with destruction, it is always heartening to discover another human being whose life strains against death & offers us all a sweeter sense of life. I did not know Locatelli until now; I hope he hears the applause of my hands & my heart with a ... Baroque smile.
Thank you Locatelli for writing such beautiful and uplifting music. Thank you Brilliant Classics for uploading this. And thank you TH-cam for recommending this to me today, March 23, 2020. I so needed to be uplifted. Thank you all❣️👏🏻🌎🌍🌏🎁🌈🌅💖
...Brilliant Classics...thank you very much for your effort of presenting this magnificent world...your introductions show your desire to not only inform but educate...thank you very much for all of this...
Very beautiful music! I love the energy and inventiveness of Locatelli's compositions. Excellent performances by the musicians. Thanks for creating this video and sharing it.
So much delicious baroque music has come from the skinny little boot in the Mediterranean! And art and architecture, too! Thank you for letting us hear this glorious music from yet another brilliant Italian composer! Superb! Oh yes, I guess I need mention incredible automobiles, too! 😁
Italian he was, but the last 35 years of his life, he lived in Amsterdam! Apparently that didnt dampen his spirit😀. (And hence the photograph, I guess)
Great music and great edition from Brilliant Classics. It is a pleasure listening to this beautiful music and I have to thank them for providing all of us with this charming music. Bravo!
Mille grazie! I had never heard of Pietro Antonio Locatelli. The image is very apt, as he (an Italian, of course!) died in Amsterdam. 🎶Wonderful music from the 'age of enlightenment'.🎶
Bravura performances of these wonderful compositions. Pardon me if I sound like a sports fan, but - Wow! Brilliant indeed, on everyone's part. Many, many thanks.
This album shows how the birth of the Itlian concerto was a free if not anarchic and totally spontaneous unplanned story. Look at our guy, Locatelli,. He had invented in his op. 3 the modern virtuoso violin concerto, adding to the concertos highly virtuoso capriccios" which was to be inserted as an "ad libitum" virtuoso cadenza (nothing more difficult can be found before Paganini). In spite of this genial and premature finding, the same guy, 5 opus later, came back to the concerto grosso to add charming but minor inflexions and modest changes. . The Italien concerto was just like a bowling marmite. You can always have a piece or meat but it can be a very fresh one or a piece that cocked for very ong. But most of the time you have a quite specific and original taste which anyway makes it co original and nice to eat (especially with a bottle of Italian wine :-)
I can certainly hear the influence of the teacher Corelli in these polished Concerto Grossi. Arcangelo Corelli may be the father of the Italian Baroque style of music and deserving of all the praise in the world for that!
@@charlesopels9676 If you listen to his caprices from his op.3 violin concertos, they are what mainly influenced Paganini into stretching the violin to it's limits. There are many similarities between Locatelli's and Paganini's Caprices. You can hear them!
Even though most long hair music was composed for evil monarchs, since the proletariat has been listening to it for so long, it's taken on a more mass appeal. Keep in mind that Locatelli was not much more than just another musical house dog, earning his keep playing for the wealthy in their royal courts. Odd that so little of this is of any concern to those in recent times.

Are you a writer? You should be if you are not! What a grand description of your Christmas Eve!
In a world so dense with destruction, it is always heartening to discover another human being whose life strains against death & offers us all a sweeter sense of life.
I did not know Locatelli until now; I hope he hears the applause of my hands & my heart with a ... Baroque smile.
dropping the Handel motif at 42:16 and a big one at 1:21:00
These concerti are extremely imaginative and original. 6 hours of bliss!
6 hours! Not enough for me…
🌠sweet Amsterdam with the southing sound of Locatelli🌌
Wonderful! I'm listening to Locatelli's music for the first time and not the last one certainly! Thank you for sharing!
Virtuosity is a word that can hardly express what I´ve enjoyed! Just magnificent!

Locatelli, a composer of conviction

Another italian baroque composer I did not even know.thank you for uploading it.
Mille grazie! I had never heard of Pietro Antonio Locatelli. The image is very apt, as he (an Italian, of course!) died in Amsterdam. 🎶Wonderful music from the 'age of enlightenment'.🎶
ditto
Lovely baroque music: soothing and Relaxing on various instruments: harp, oboe, piano, violin.. etc
I think its a hapsichord (Cembalo) not a harp, but it does sound like a harp. But check for it
Die Konzertenaufführung ist grossartig !!! Tepper Michael.
Agree 100%
Thank you so much !!!
Superb, Outstanding, Marvelous .... Thank you!! I feel alive again !!!

❤elegante
This is JUST what I needed, thank you!
Your music is very beatiful, thanks for sharing it
Thank you!
💚💚💚
Superb Music.
Could not agree more!
Klasse Musik. Ganz nach meinem Geschmack. Und das über 6 Stunden. Super-

Delicious cheese; gorgeous music. You can't lose with Locatelli.
Paul, nicely said.
I can certainly hear the influence of the teacher Corelli in these polished Concerto Grossi. Arcangelo Corelli may be the father of the Italian Baroque style of music and deserving of all the praise in the world for that!
Corelli ha influenzato tutto il concertismo europeo!
So refreshing! Like a breath of mountain air!
wonderful, you made my night, thank you a subscriber btw, did his family make cheese?

Paganini's main influence
I did not know!
