Johan Nygren I wanted a weightless tail so when it's resting on the bottom the tail is pointing up like a small fish digging in the ground. If you add a hook the weight of the point and bend will prevent that action from happening. It's designed specifically for that action.

Nice looking fly, but why dont you use a hook instead of the shank for the tail? Now the fish will bite in the tail without getting hooked...
