    Even though I’m not in the market for a console, I still really enjoyed all the info in this video. Nicely done!

    THANK YOU , THANK YOU , THANK YOU !!!!
    This is the way a video for setup should be done !!! Your information is PRICELESS !!!!
    Things like the stress you put on those HEAVY Dsub cables and the dangers of breaking the D sub connectors. I can't THANK YOU enough for this information. Also, the expense of cables . Most people don't realize how much cables cost and the importance of buying HIGH QUALITY CABLES and wasting money on cheap cables . This is a video that SSL should PAY YOU to put on their own website !!!!

    Thanks so much for sharing your information. This will be a huge benefit for me. One thing that I was concerned about was the amount of DSub connectors I would need to utilize all aspects of the origin.

      Hey there Shallow… yes it is a lot of money for a cable…. But considering the value of my time I can do a lot better making records instead of making cables… and because I’m NOT a great solderer buying commercial ones saved me both time and a lot of reliability headaches.

    Good video! But where did you buy the console from? When they came out they were 48k. Then 50k. Now Sweetwater wants 60. Seems like I’m gonna need that extra money for cables... I had no idea... lol

    Do you know if there are any third party automation installations? I don’t need recall but moving faders and mutes. I am thinking about replacing my Trident 80B which has Uptown Moving Faders. I also still use my Sony JH 24 Tape Machine as well as ProTools HD 8 with three 192 I/O’s. Thanks for any info you might have.

      Hello… I use the SSL UC-1 with my console and the associated SSL360 software… this gets you EQ, Comporession, and other features for every channel that are stored and recallable… check out TH-cam for use and features.
      The system works beautifully and sounds FANTASTIC

      @@foresthillstudio it can’t control Sony JH 24 so I don’t understand what you are referring to be controlled. Just to be clear I am an analog studio. Currently I have Trident 80B with Uptown moving faders and my tape machine is Sony JH 24 two inch analog recorder. I do have ProTools HD 8 running on a MACPRO 4,1 iOS 10.6.8. with three 192’s A/D D/A converters and Sync i/o to sync 24 track tape machine and moving faders with ProTools HD 8. I cannot use any Mac iOS later than 10.6.8 on my Mac Pro or PROTOOLS HD 8 will not run. Sorry lengthy response. But I wasn’t sure I was clear that I am not a hybrid studio or in the box.

    How would I set this console up with Logic Pro X?

    • @foresthillstudio
      @foresthillstudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Setting the Console Up to work with Any Daw Involves connecting the Console to your interface... Both inputs and Outputs... I use the console direct outs or short faders to Feed the DAW Inputs via the interface and I Use The Long Faders To Monitor Signals from the Interface DAW Outputs... Within the DAW you can then route any Console Channel for recording and then "monitor" any channel during hybrid mixing... Hope This Helps...

    Great video, you'll be saving people a lot of time and money. I just have one question regarding the sound of Origin. I'm in Mexico so not easy to demo. Anyway i have an SSL Sigma which i run everything through and i really love the character of the thing. Reminds me of the old days when just running signal though a nice board (Trident, Neve etc.) would get you half way there. I'm just wondering if Origin's signature would be comparable to Sigma's, or if it's a whole 'nother beast. I understand it can be very clean and also drivable with the mic pres, but how clean is 'clean' and what kind of character do the master bus and pres impart? Sigma can actually get very fat and juicy, which surprised me. Any comment/opinion would be greatly appreciated sir. I'm seriously considering one. Thank you for your time!
