I remember when this album came out, there were commercials and everything for it. With the advertising and how good the music is, I don't know how Abandoned Pools didn't take off.
@axra_skies I doubt it, but they did have commercials for CD’s in the early 2000’s. I couldn’t believe that this wasn’t bigger than it was because it was really being pushed hard. Tower Records had tons of these CDs too.
It's songs like this that give me a false sense of nostalgia even though I completely missed out on this time period. I'd give anything just to live a year back then just so I'd be able to live with this stuff
Dude is so underrated because hes TOO REAL. Not many want to get to these depths of emotions. Personally, i thrive off of knowing im not the only one who feels so deeply. Gorgeous. Love it.
I think I remember hearing this song for the first time and not feeling too highly of it, but now it's legitimately one of my favorites from the album.
what i think think this song is about is the correlation between the listeners of this band and our beautiful band itself that we all love and have our eagerness to rely on them to make us feel better, the pressure of our eagerness weighs on the band as well, to and we are all expecting something, something that fixes our demeaner and our wellbeing but just listing to theses songs is enough to regain my thoughts and collect myself, for anyone out there that's going through stuff, its going to be alright.
I think this one of the more upfront songs in the album, so I would like to believe that this interpretation is valid, si i believe it delves into themes of familial dysfunction, self-destruction, and the perpetuation of negative cycles. The "happy family tree" symbolizes the facade of happiness and stability, which masks the underlying turmoil and instability. The repetition of phrases like "we watch it burn" and "we eat our young" emphasizes a sense of inevitability and helplessness in the face of destructive patterns. The lines "forget all the stupid things you say, I know you beat up on yourself" highlights the self-critical nature of the protagonist, possibly reflecting a struggle with self-esteem or mental health issues. The phrase "it's in your blood" suggests a hereditary aspect to these struggles, hinting at a cycle of dysfunction passed down through generations. The repeated refrain to "take it easy on yourself" juxtaposes the self-destructive tendencies with a plea for self-compassion and forgiveness. However, the repetition of "we never learn" and "staring into the sun" implies a resignation to repeating the same mistakes and being unable to escape the destructive cycle. Overall, the lyrics paint a poignant picture of inner turmoil, intergenerational trauma, and the struggle to break free from destructive patterns, while also hinting at the possibility of self-redemption through self-compassion and forgiveness.
bro this sounds like its by a band with millions of subs... why cant it be like that... I guess it would make it less special, but i dont like to gatekeep, i want more people to know of Abandoned Pools!!!!
Elucidator I've always thought about this one lyric, but ultimately it has always boiled down to putting down the younger or one whom you deem less worthy or wise to what you, yourself, have come to understand.
We eat our young is metaphorical, it's an expression basically we put too many expectations and pressure on our youth...or like how Hollywood is literally exploiting children and innocence ,,
this band was of its time, a time we all want back. i want life to be simple again and im so scared of the future. i wish the best to all of you.

When the second record came out, I had to buy a used promo at a record store.

I love this song. I listened this song with mr educater Petr Holub.
Post apocalyptia
Possible it could be in a random compilation of ads, a lot of lost ads have been found because they were hiding in plain sight like that
“I guess the driest love of all is abstinence” -Marie Curie’s clone
Man, I used to play Sonic Adventure 2 Battle to this whole album. This song is hitting me with that nostalgia!
Funny to see this comment, I just discovered AP today and for some reason I thought of SA2 of all things.
Dude i played Banjo-Kazooie to this album lol nostalgia big time
As someone who grew up with sa2b i can absolutely see myself playing it to this that is if i had a gamecube still
I swear the remedy reminds me of shadow the hedgehog
It would rock to get some new songs from them in a new Sonic game, now that they are returning to their moodier stories finally.
CLONE HIGH WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THE SAME WITH OUT THIS BAND !
Indeed
Without this band, the intro music would not even exist!
Factsss
Abandoned Pools is just one guy
It really wouldn't have, they set the whole nostalgic theme for that show in my personal opinion.
One of my forever favorite songs from Abandoned Pools. More people should know of this band / Tommy.
What we'd give to be able to go back
Same
Completely underrated band and album. No idea how this slipped through the fingers of mainstream rock.

It was fun
To this day, I believe if he made this a single he would have crossed over.
100%

I think and feel that teenage angst all over again
You say what no one understands, the seeds are in your hands!
The branches break your bones
i cant just leave you alone
And watch you squirm
This can’t be what your waiting for
@@idioticproductions4000 Staring into the sun

Best song on the album...
The "This can't be what you're waiting for" hits different
First time hearing this and man I like it a lot, I’m gonna keep listening to these guys
This is my 24th favorite song of all time!

Same. Never understood people who hate it when a song goes "Tiktok viral", just silly and childish.
I RIP THE PAGES FROM THE BOOK😫
Still incredible.
I don’t know how this song wasn’t a major HIT! It should’ve been all over the place! Better than nowadays crap by miles!
Why is THIS the only album that's not on Abandoned Pools' spotify????
Humanistic remains unavailable on UK spotify!
Pleeeeeeeease put it on :)
BANGER
Sitting on my roof, bong In hand, this blasting through my headphones. Guess It's In my blood
Serious Star Wars feelings here.
