Bracket racing of the Gasser class cars at the 2018 Nostalgia Drags. Several of the cars in this class came over from Australia for this meeting run by Bay Rodders.
We race gassers. My brother , cousin and I had a 55 in the early 70s. Wow what a cool car. Inconsistent but would run 10.50's with a small block , liberty 4 spd and 9 inch. I've raced on and off all my life . My father and uncle started in the early 50's. The cool part is I'm part of the great lakes gassers in Michigan. My close friends have 2 Willy's . I'm slowly getting things together to copy our 55. Takes a lot of time because we also run several other cars. I really was impressed with your photography from what appears the stands. Nothing beats a bad gasser wheels up all over the track. I should have mentioned I'm in the Detroit , Michigan area. We raced constantly at Detroit Dragway .

Wow Aussie drag racing ..I was listening to an engine builder in Aussie talk about the bottom of the motor and how he use's a different "wrist pin" only He didn't say wrist pin or even piston pin he said something like Gajjin pin and I didn't know what the fuck that was ...they spent crazy hours hogging out iron heads but they build some nice motors .. look at the Pavcek 750 HP 434 inch Chevy

He was saying "gudgeon pin." Aussie and NZ accents can do funny things to words.

A friend of mine sold his 63 Falcon Ranchero, to a guy in NZ. It's blue, and back halfed, with a 302 stroker motor.
Can't be many in the country, I'll keep a look out while at the drags and the swap meet at Kumeu.
