part of presenting is leaving time for people to process. Listening to someone speak fast for more than 15 minutes causes you to only remember the last 15 minutes of info after an hour of dialogue. Leaving your audience time to digest and process the information is important. He really makes it work.

      Saying that does two things:
First, it primes the viewer to expect it, so if it's something that *would* be jarring to someone, it's much less likely to happen because they know it's coming
Secondly, and this is something I recognize because I also do it, it makes any criticism of the way he speaks (which is a trashy thing to complain about, regardless) completely null and void.
There's no way to stop it, but talking about your perceived or real "flaws" is an effective way of neutering any complaints or insults about it.
What I'm saying is, the man is a great...Uhhh, speaker, lecturer, presenter...? Whichever one he'd prefer, and I'm willing to bet that he's worked very hard for to get as good as he is at it.

@ It is a reference to a fairy tale called "Three Billy Goats Gruff" in which three billy goats try to cross a bridge that a troll lives under. The troll tries to eat the goats, but the goats outsmart the troll. "Troll" is also a term for people on the internet who make deliberately provocative statements in an attempt to get a rise out of people. Paul Harrell was taking advantage of this double meaning by making the literary reference to refer to these people who were being deliberately obtuse in the youtube comments of the previous video.

Fortunately my brother in law has always had guns, gave me enough for a full mag, suggested drills for operating the gun and practicing the "straight finger". You can still find reloading kits and premium components, likely also at a premium, but available. Reloading will pay for itself in short order, is a good skill to have, and with the time many people have on their hands at the moment building a new skill is a great idea.

Great point on "quick access" safes. Even though I do not have children in the house, I have two of them. You don't want an intruder to have quick access to your loaded gun. Also, regarding the one in the bedroom, having to open it makes sure you are sufficiently awake that you do not shoot your spouse coming up the stairs. I do recommend that you get one that is mechanical in nature rather then biometric. I have seen biometric locks fails to open on a number of ocassions. Also, make sure your periodically check the batteries on the locking mechanism to make sure they are still go and the mechanism will work.

@@bluesonicstreak7317 Glocks are classified as restricted firearms yes, but you are able to get a restricted level PAL (Possession and Acquisition Licence). However part of the reason the Glock was his recommendation was the magazine capacity, which is limited to 10 rounds in Canada rather than the 15 rounds in his model.
Semiautomatic handgun magazines in Canada are limited to a maximum 10 cartridges (this includes both rimfire and centrefire semi-automatic handguns).
The exception are magazines designed for one calibre that will function in handguns of a different calibre and hold a higher capacity.
The RCMP give an example as follows: "Heckler and Koch P7 pistol chambered for 9mm Luger caliber: The magazine designed for the 40 S&W calibre variant of the pistol will hold 13 cartridges of 9mm Luger calibre and function in the 9mm Luger calibre P7 pistol. This is permissible as the maximum permitted capacity of the 40 S&W calibre magazine must be measured by the number of 40 S&W calibre cartridges it is capable of holding, which is 10 such cartridges in the case of the HK P7 pistol magazine."

Whats caught many people by surprise is the massive gas / fuel glut and it's worth $0 now, and the silver price has collapsed because it's reliant on industry demand to maintain demand and price. Paul I never thought I would see months of food shortages of essentials ever going on, but I see it now, and I see it across many first world countries. Nice dig at the hate trolls, but thats only going to trigger them more. You know your stuff. Yes in Australia you can't have a gun to protect your family or home. In essence gun ownership here is extremely difficult.

    • @pietrayday9915
      @pietrayday9915 2 ปีที่แล้ว

A year later, and we've found a way to shoot gas prices to the moon, while the prices of almost everything else are inflating as well, as the supply of pretty much everything useful or valuable has all but vanished from years of lost productivity. It's astonishing how much political, social, and economic damage governments have managed to cause - and continues to cause - against their own citizens, on what has been, now that we can see it from almost two years of 20/20 hindsight, the flimsiest of excuses! Here in the USA, crime rates in larger cities due to deliberate setbacks against law enforcement alone have converted a historic number of people into first-time gun owners, while making gun-control virtual political poison for governments and political candidates to openly embrace.

The video quality looks exceptional on this one.

    • @ArmaGuyz
      @ArmaGuyz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Only thing is about that being said is its not typically the LE who introduce those laws much less pass them. Not every cop agrees with gun laws or is a gun grabber.
Laws are typically passed via vote of states Representatives and lots of citizens encouraging their reps to vote one way or another.
The problem you have to look at is how the LE interpret those laws because that's often how they get you.

Fair enough. Although in my opinion the LE has a duty to concern themselves with the legal standard and precedent set by the supreme court. As to not falsely interpret a law out of negligence or enforce an unconstitutional law. The most obvious example being red flag laws.

For the whole Distance thing. In the Concealed Carry class i had, 'distance' was only ever a thing when it came to someone having a 'hand-to-hand' style weapon visible, 'or' if they were approaching you with no visible weapon but 'stating their intent' to kill/harm you.
In those cases.. it would 'not' be reasonable to use deadly force on them if they were 'beyond' 21 yards (roughly the length of a living room for mental visual). But if they were within that range, then as you yourself said, they 'could' potentially close that gap rather fast so 'would' be a imminent threat.
If though, the other party had a long-range weapon (another fire-arm or such), then all it would require is the belief that they intended to 'use' that weapon on us.

"Why would you buy a firearm to deal with a virus?" Let me explain how I see that. I'm living in Poland, in one of the three biggest cities in that country. We do not have even 0.001% of guns you Guys in the US have, firearms are incredibly difficult to obtain here. (I'm not counting black market or otherwise illegal firearms, since in my 28 year long life I was offered to buy very cheap and very real illegal AKMS with black polymer aftermarket furniture and literal bucket of military surplus ammo and at different occasion, as a highschooler I've received an offer to buy CZ 83 in 9x18 mm Makarov, which I'm 99% sure was a gun involved in homicide or similar affair)
Anyway, ad meritum: since my early 16-teens I was never involved in any fight; I was pretty reserved guy and was an sheltered kid.
Now, since there is quarantine in Poland, I had to kick, punch or straight away maim THREE people in ONE week. Agressive drunkards or hobo's, who disregard mask-wearing warrants and are bored/drunk/stupid out of their mind. I talk about streetfights in broad daylight, in the very city centre. That, before Beer was UNTHINKABLE. If situation with proletaryat/hobo/drug abusive/plainly dangerous people is similar in your country, then I shudder. Because all I fear in Poland is risk of contracting a virus from drunkards and some bruises, not a cluster of freaking bulletholes... Yes, I'd buy a gun if I was living in US right this instant!

Don't forget that you can legally buy a blackpowder weapon provided it was manufactured or designed before 1886 if I remember correctly, without any additional permits other than your id. *However* without a specific permit you cannot carry it with you for self defense outside of your home.

I wish the Polish people would have also been blessed with a 2nd Amendment. Perhaps the wealthy magnats back in the day didn’t want ordinary people to have any power. I'm watching the Top Ten series again because the situation has gone downhill. Fire departments and law enforcement is virtually non-existant and there is civil unrest in the streets. I think it is safe to say that we are WROL.
I'm not confident that my little Ruger 10/22 would be sufficient but surely ammo should be easy enough to find. And maybe find an inexpensive autoloader for home defense until I can get a CWL.

in 'most' cases, the caliber of a firearm is irrelevant, only a rare few individuals will be walking around with store-bought body armor. Even a BB or Pellet-gun can kill if you hit the right place. Its 2 things that count.
      1) Hitting what your aiming at.
      2) Shot placement.
Even if someone who kicks in your door is wearing full Level-3A body armor, a .22 shot to their noggin will kill (unless they somehow got ahold of a full-face armored helmet, in which case, aim for the neck).
I actually carry a Sig-Sauer Mosquito as my current Concealed Carry, and its a .22 (Once i get the holster i ordered in, i'll be switching it out for my new Ruger-57)
My only personal downside to .22 calibers (or any rim-fire calibers for that matter) is they are less-reliable than center-fire rounds. Even in 10$-box rounds of .22, i still get some that either are loaded light (ie: dont have the full powder load), or fail to fire even after a solid hit from the firing pin (note, this is not a x-out of 10 shot thing, but at least 1 or 2 out of every 50). So i 'personally' feel there's more of a risk for having a 'click' happen instead of a 'boom' when you pull the trigger, which will force you to manually rack the slide to eject the faulty round and load the next.

So I recently bought my first rifle, a Ruger 10/22....I raise hogs for meat for my family. I work as a line-cook full time & before Covid it was easier & worth the money to take them to be processed by a professional. These days in my area a small homesteader can't get an appt at a slaughter house within the next 6-8 months so I've started dispatching the pigs myself & needed a rifle...Just saying there are a million different situations/reasons to buy firearms & people shouldn't judge....thanks for the helpful videos

Here in California where they released prisoners early because they didn't want them to catch beer, then closed the gun stores, nothing could ever go wrong there. Then they flew helicopters with loudspeakers to tell us to remain in our locked homes because of the three armed suspects they were trying to find. It just shows that one does not have to be very smart to be a politician here.

Paul, love your "two" video's. Concerning the "7 yard" rule, when I am talking to people about self defense scenarios the 7 yard rule comes up. I always correct that as a guideline depending on situation, which you hit on pretty well. The one thing I say is turn the coin, now your the juror hearing your self defense case. How would "your" self defense scenario present in court? All of sudden the conversation takes on a different tone.
Additionally, at least in our county our Sheriff is extremely supportive of the 2A and CWP and Self Defense. We talk with our Sheriff routinely to level set understanding of words and interpretation of the written law. Talking with a Lawyer is paramount without saying, hands down. Talking with your local LEO is just as important, if the opportunity is open to you.

i conceal carry and i keep my night gun in the drawer of my night stand ... but i have 2 of those "fast access" small 1-2 sub-compact safes he mentioned... 1 bolted to the hard-wood floor in my room and one bolted down in the back of the trunk of my car.... now i know that isnt fort Knox level security by ANY means... but my aim was more for it to be "fool proof" i.e. your everyday hoodlum braking into houses/cars with nothing more than a lock pick/pocket knife isnt going to be able to just "grab and go" with my sh*t.... an i think i basically achieved that... better have a nice crowbar with you and about 15-30 mins dedicated solely to prying a (possibly empty for all they know)safe up... seems like it isnt worth the trouble/risk....

@@dtb-bm8kx *(idk y my first comment was deleted...)* i mean its effective for what i need it for... and i think they will be more distracted by my electronics and "valuables" laying around and the 5 long gun capacity safe bolted to the foundation of my home... plus my security system will have police here well before they get either safe close to loose... i mean no normal home is safe from intruders unless you have your safes in a closet that has reinforced walls and breach resistant doors... like a full closet safe or "panic room" (which i have looked into modifying a closet in such a manner but it just seems like over kill for a house i might move from at some point...) but yeah, i think it achieves a level of security i am comfortable with...

I recently bought a few firearms. I haven't shot one or even handled one in probably 15 years. Within one week I looked up the laws of gun ownership and when, where and how I can carry them. I then contacted a couple of friends that are former and current police officers. I educated myself on what was available in my area and I could afford VS what I think I need for defense. I then legally passed the checks and purchased said firearms. I immediately continued to educate myself on guns and I still educate as much as I can take in. I also immediately bought the correct ammunition and shot each one numerous times to become familiar with the guns. In that check I also learned they work and work well. I also applied for a concealed carry permit on Saturday and I was approved the following Tuesday. All it takes is the want to properly educate yourself on any subject. We have a great advantage now. It's called TH-cam. Sure you have to find the fake experts and bad information and ignore it. Then you find channels like Mr Harrell has here. Thank you for what you do sir. Also thank you for your service.

When being taught to use SCUBA and use a weapon, I wanted sensible, mature, proven experts. Not Cowboys...
Paul Harrell is one of those, and should be listened to. He stakes his reputation every time he loads a video, and he keeps high standards.
Anyone seeking information on firearms for self-protection should hear Harrell - agree or disagree later, but LISTEN to this guy. He's as knowledgeable and fair as anyone I've ever seen.

Fir sure, there's nothing he says that contradicts anyone else. It's just sensible in its own right. Some of these other gun channels seem to be aiming to convince of their knowledge and superiority to others rather than simple teaching. I'm not even a gun nut enough to watch a 30 minute gun video with no shooting and only 3 or 4 guns shown. I'm on my 4th PH vid and aim keen for more.
