I'm in the same boat as you but I've been in a low since Jan 2023, with health issues breaking my ankle, car issues, breaking my foot, cat sickness, grandpa dying, grandma diagnosed with Alzheimers, cat dying etc. its been a lot. Here's an idea I'm buying this year for all my (grown) kids. A fire blanket. If you see them advertised, they are a very easy way to put out a fire very quickly. Faster and easier than a fire extinguisher. I'm sure you've heard of them. Better safe than sorry, easy to store, and the more you buy, the cheaper they are!
I bought a "welding blanket" several years ago to put across the opening of our fireplace. After we've had a fire, it's a good idea to leave the flu open overnight (no CO!), and the blanket cuts down on heat loss. It seems to be the same material being sold as "fire blankets," but I bet welding blankets are less expensive.

Couple of years ago on the night before Christmas Eve, we found a neighbour's cat on the pavement - she had been hit by a car and died right in front of me while I was trying to get some help. The owner's son was heartbroken - things could be worse.

For example: hubby and daughter are getting each, 1 quality charger that will do laptop, iPad and phone (in one), a 3-pack of high quality cables, and a pack of adapters, 1 usb-c to usb-a, one the reverse, and one usb-c to the old kind. We can now ditch all the hoarded, just-in-case ones that make our “magic” kitchen drawer look like a nest of snakes died in it. 😀

Being organized at home helped me more that I would have imagined: I never had an issue with punctuality again, my head is organized, I can find my stuff, I sleep better, I am more relaxed and I can enjoy my life finally. Luv ya Cass! I've been nursing a cat that keeps getting war wounds when out and about. I'm keeping him in more and have my intwrnal garage set up with cat trees, bed, litter trays and shut him in there if I need to go out or sleep at night in peace. I hope your Mr Bojangles recovers well

Something we discovered last week that we need: portable chargers for the phones. We used to have some, but they've since become outdated as the phones changed. I grabbed a pair at Costco for under $30 so I'll be ready next time there's a "bomb cyclone" headed for Seattle! Thanks for your positive spirit; I look forward to your videos. Luv ya Cass! I've been nursing a cat that keeps getting war wounds when out and about. I'm keeping him in more and have my intwrnal garage set up with cat trees, bed, litter trays and shut him in there if I need to go out or sleep at night in peace. I hope your Mr Bojangles recovers well

Aw Cass I’m sorry you’re going through a tough time atm. Hope Mr. Bojangles is better soon. Bummer about the test but with your determination you will get it next time. My gift suggestions for older parents who don't need anything: Anything that wears out and needs replacing, like a wall calendar; kitchen towels/rags/sponges; bird food for that bird feeder you got them last year; gardening gloves; etc... Something we discovered last week that we need: portable chargers for the phones. We used to have some, but they've since become outdated as the phones changed. I grabbed a pair at Costco for under $30 so I'll be ready next time there's a "bomb cyclone" headed for Seattle!
