I took my Enterprise to Padstow in '88 (or thereabouts), having sailed on peaty, tea-coloured, reservoirs 'oop north'. Having neither bothered to read tide-tables, nor look at a chart, I found myself in the middle of the Camel Estuary on holiday day #1, hurtling towards what I later learned was the Doom Bar. About five hundred metres off shore, I took a look over the port side, on a starboard reach. Planing away. Sunshine! Big winds! Clear water! My centreboard! (Never seen it before!) ...And, ummm, sand about a foot deeper. Ahead? Breakers in the middle of the estuary!? I took an instinctive gybe and a hard right. Capsized, instantly. Found myself standing on the bottom. ...Curse you, Doom Bar.
What a beautiful, beautiful boat. First time watching your channel, first of your videos I watch is this one. It reminds me a lot of Roger Barnes whose videos I really dig watching. I have a 13 feet sailboat (3.9 metres) that I sail in the north coast of Spain (actually just inside Santander´s Bay) and I admire your courage to sail in Scottish waters even in springtime. Just watching the suit your wearing makes me acknowledge how cold the water must be there! Really like the tent concept, Ive been thinking about something similar for my boat but instead of sheltering from the rain I would use it for the scorching sun we get lately even in the north coast of Spain (weather in the north of Spain is just a tiny bit sunnier than the one you get in the south of England) Ill take a look at the rest of your videos before asking you anything about the tarp system. Thanks a lot for your effort and congratulations for your channel, you have a new subscriber btw!
Thank you very much, that's wonderful to hear! The tent is made and sold by a member of the Wayfarer class association who has been cruising for many years. Feel free to ask about the rest!

Sounds like an experience to remember!
lovely job picking up the mooring, I usually end up hanging over side with the boat trying to sail away
Thanks! Lots of practice stopping at exactly the right point and using the wind and tide to my advantage.
One of your best videos yet!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!

Great video!!
Thank you!
Another great video!
Thanks!
Thanks. Really enjoyed the video. You are certainly equipped well. Beautiful looking boat. May I ask what buoyancy aid you are wearing?
Thank you! It's a Yak Ravine. No longer made unfortunately...
thx
Fantastic - so atmospheric! Do you have something comfy to sit/veg on in the boat?
Thank you! I have a rubber kneeling pad which doesn't absorb water, which is really good for sitting on all day.
You may know the how to. If you’re passing through Loch Sween drop me a line. Former Wanderer 👍
Thank you, I do like it up there!
think I counted at least 4 cans of doom bar?
Only one consumed!
The resignation at th-cam.com/video/HC6eEg6IaJI/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=263 hilarious! Glad you were having the time of your life.
Haha! Thank you
