Poor guy seems to have a muscular seizure in lower back towards end of concert. Leaning well over to his left. Massaging with left hand. Face in pain. Leaves stage twice. Must have been awful for him.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! that reminds me of that night in 2015. when BJM played at Strom in munich. Anton came on stage and the first thing he said was; "no request, we play for three hours straight!" i was simply melting away. a night i will never forget. Thanks Anton, your band and your music. you are a life-saver. not only to me, to many people. thank you!
melting away is the way to put it! this is the Jonestown I've always had the pleasure of seeing; really digging in on a decent, long set, sounding great, totally bringing the goods.
They never disappoint. I have half of a smashed joel tambourine from the Wiltern last year. Thank god he smashed it on purpose and handed it to me. It was my 60th birthday and I’ll be forever grateful!
Haha- I’m not a star gazer- but I confess: when i accidentally bumped into Anton outside before a show. We chatted and traded cigarettes- I wanted one of his camels, which I figured were scrunched in hi left back pocket- he wanted one of my American Spirits….he lit immediately- I still have the his cigarettes AND his lighter (sorry Anton) Saving cigarettes wasn’t the idea - it just happened- how could I enjoy it? I’m so stressed 😩- hahahaha
Love the way this was filmed. Reminds me of how they did it back in the 70s when a filmed live concert showed the artists in an intimate way. Their emotions, their playing styles and interactions with each other. Slow pans, close up shots, unexpected shots with nice depth of field really elevate this excellent performance. Too many times these days the filming of such events just use cheap tricks zooming in and out quick camera changes everywhere to simulate a great performance. You don’t need that with a great band like BJM. Sound recording is excellent as well. Kudos to all.
I was in a donut shop in Portland and Anemone (sp) was playing. Needless to say, I ordered an extra blueberry cake donut as a result of being so impressed.
I’m so happy that Anton still alive and making art. I saw the BJM back in the day and this brings it all back, that messy and majestic world that they create.
I agree. It brought such joy to see a well-oiled BJM over the last few years -- but something went terribly wrong on tour after tour this year. I am pretty such at some point he started drinking. Late last year, it all ended with a bad brawl onstage in Melbourne between Anton and Ryan -- finally Anton collapsed onto his amp, clearly shaken, then the curtain starts coming down and he's just sitting there shaking and shaking his head ---had enough pain yet, Anton? Then get home and get teated for your mental illness and alcoholism. I had a ticket for the 23 show - but I had a bad feeling after seeing all these clip or just terrible shows -- he was riding this band so hard there was no way they were gonna please him, especially the drummer, poor guy, At shows, .Anton ping pongs back and forth from between desperation to exhilaration -- and he started bashing his band and the audience-- where were throwing things at stage....It was DIG all over again, except it wasn't a movie....this was the real deal. And man it was ugly. I think Anton will rebound, but it's gonna take some time --and a lot for these guys are not gonna be in the next version of BJM -- and I'm sure there will be one......its the only thing that keeps Anton sane. JMHo thanks.
He’s really gonna have to live up to his mantra: NEVER GIVE UP- but give up drinking so u can save ur life and be there for your son- who will deeply need you-- I LOVE it- but looking at the toll it took - it ain’t worth it-
BJM plays in this concert a lot of songs from their last 2 albums released after covid as well as many songs from the old catalogue made 1-3 decades ago .The band’s (neo)psychedelic sound is vast and distinct with shades of VU, Stones , Early PF, Kinks, Byrds , a little Beatles and Dylan as well as some 80s bands like Spacemen 3, Galaxies 500 . Wow, this reminds me of the days where I worked at a music store in West Hollywood in the mid 2000s and my friend turned me on. to BJM... a couple years later, my friend was found shooting up heroin in the bathroom. He essentially quit out of embarrassment. Even though the manager wanted to give him a chance to recover. I drove my friend home that day. He lived-in Fairfax. He gets off the car and I see a cop car in my rear view mirror. I tell him to hurry up because I was parked illegally AND I suspected he had heroin in his back pack. I hope you are doing well, my friend. Anton, hope you are doing well, too.
I'm not that familiar with them, but does Joel do anything besides play the tambourine? Does he ever sing? He's front and center, you'd expect him to do more...
The tambourine player's facial hair reminds my of what Louisa May Alcott said about Ralph Waldo Emerson's similar beard: "It will most assuredly deflect amorous advances and preserve the man’s virtue in perpetuity."
Best tambourine player of all time.

One of the best nights of my life was at a BJM concert in Brooklyn.
Good show!!
2 hours in....is Anton the voice of reason? Here, Joel, hit this...mellow out....
Amazing song.
prolly 1 of the most underrated, ignurt, enbred noise spectacles I've ever witnessed
Wow. What a band. Great tunes. Great live.
Best band the past thirty years BJM
After first song he said quietly to the band “That’s ok- let just try harder.”
He had replaced yet-
I'm not that familiar with them, but does Joel do anything besides play the tambourine? Does he ever sing? He's front and center, you'd expect him to do more...
Either the band rarely practices, or some of the musicians are toasted, or due to the revolving door, some are new. That said, i adore bjm.
We never had a chance is a fucking masterpiece....as they all are but that one puts the hook in me
ditto. what do you think that song is about?
@@lanceakins-nb9yx life is so painful but pain means you're alive
The tambourine player's facial hair reminds my of what Louisa May Alcott said about Ralph Waldo Emerson's similar beard: "It will most assuredly deflect amorous advances and preserve the man’s virtue in perpetuity."
😅😅😅😅
What a set. Incredible.
SIMPLESMENTE PERFEITO MEU DEUS!!!! EU AMO ESSA BANDA ❤
Beautiful music!
1:32:20 -Hold That Though
Keeping it real as usual what a band
The first song sounds a lot like Galaxie 500 with more guitars.
It’s alright Joel. You rock!!!
really a band focused on the tambourine. awesome
Brilliant...
Joel seems sad, is everything OK?
Gion is the coolest dude on earth ! What do you do for a living ? Smoke weed and play the tambourine with the BJM !
