It would be so amazing and funny to see you tackle Weezer’s discography and how much they continue hook you in, loose you, make you despise them, ring you back in, loose you again, and in the end, just confuse you.
Maybe after they release Van Weezer and see how that pans out to get a full scope of their material, that would be a fun episode!

I read in an article that Noel wanted actually most of the songs on the Masterplan to make the third album which the b sides are amazing; however, he says the mistake was that they where trying to cash in on their moment and rather than wait and construct the album they wanted they just release what is now be here now. Hmm, I think Oasis history might of changed a little but never knowing where the chaos of Liam and Noel constantly fighting lead who knows what could of happen

Although I agree, the next 3 are dogshite... replace them with I believe in all, the boy with the blues and come on outside and this would have been up there with the first 2 album Instead, it's a solid 7- 7.5/10 as opposed to the 9 or 10 it could have been.

Don't Believe the Truth might be one of the most overlooked rock albums of the 2000s. The songwriting is like a dirty, Stonesier version of Morning Glory, with Liam bringing a gritty but soothing vocal quality. One of my favorites from the boys, glad to see it get some props.

Whilst I agree in general with your pithy putdowns of Shoulders and Heathen Chemistry, both those albums for me have at least a couple of vintage Oasis tracks that justify their existence. Also their first album really is just pure rock 'n roll sunshine from beginning to end. The first two albums I ever owned were Morning Glory and Urban Hymns so Oasis and 90s Brit Rock definitely have a place in my heart.

    Rule of Britpop self growth:
    1. Preteen: Oasis are the greatest. I love them as unironically as they love themselves.
    2. Adolescence: I have some awareness of aIrony and therefore like Blur
    3. Impoverished uni years: pulp, because I now understand that most sex is disaooointing, ans that whimsy also belongs in my life.
    4. Maturity: Suede. There is nothing too scrottily filthy to sing about. Now excuse me, I’m off to damage a headboard in a council flat.

BIG oasis fan here. I agree!
Return to form, this is the album they should’ve released after BHN
Dave Sardy was the producer & captures vintage sounds very well. Opening song has a The Zombies vibe guitar going
I agree also, the first two noel albums are all I own.
Liam lost his voice & plays it safe with plodding guitar driven eh stuff.
P.S. got those two (ok-ish) Beady Eye albums on vinyl and now they’re both like $100 apiece on Discogs. Weird as they couldn’t give them away at my record store.
Also you have many same viewpoints from fans (me) on certain songs and albums etc so kudos for being objective and tasteful 🎉😊

That was how he used to format them, his more recent ones are considerably more in depth at describing the stories and circumstances surrounding albums and also delve into critiquing the albums and songs to a further extent.
In other words, he’s refined the format to be more documentary and reviews rather than just nutshells, while maintaining the same overall style of humor present here.

Ouch. Be Here Now is my favorite of their albums because of All Around the World (but I have a soft spot for the entire album). Had that song not graced my ears, I would not have discovered the rest of their work. What's the Story (Morning Glory) is a close second. Also, that song is kinda part of my early teenage years, so that might be why it is as formative and ingrained in me as it is.
And yes, their hubris and dragged-out fights with one another made the group... entertaining to keep track of over the years. I'm also amazed they managed to hold together as long as they did and produce anything with how heated they'd get with one another.

Having been an Oasis fan for a good 12-13 years now, your reviews reflect my initial thoughts on the albums. But with time, I've come to appreciate Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants a lot more- I've absolutely come around to the point of being a defender. "Go Let It Out," "Gas Panic!," and "Where Did It All Go Wrong" are among their best songs IMHO. "Roll It Over" is pretty great too. The only song on there that I think is a real throwaway is "I Can See A Liar"- the rest of the songs I will defend to at least a certain degree (even "Little James").
I'm also a little more lukewarm on Don't Believe The Truth than you are, but I used to like it more. Heathen Chemistry has an excellent bright spot with "Stop Crying Your Heart Out," but that's one of the only cuts from that album I'll listen to regularly.
As an aside, something you alluded to in your overview of The Masterplan: Noel has a notoriously bad track record of choosing which songs make the album and which ones don't. Some Oasis B sides, even from later in their career, are shockingly good! Let's All Make Believe and Idler's Dream come to mind. I'd also recommend the demos of "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" and "Hindu Times" if you care to listen to some deeper cuts.
I could talk about Oasis for hours. ;)

Not to nitpick but I think that for the first album you kinda got it backwards. As far as I know at least the original CDs were quite brick walled while the vinyl more dynamic. You say its loud and fun also which sounds to me like its more compressed, not necessarily bad or anything, its why they do it, but that means its actually less dynamic, just to clarify.
Edit: I found some Dynamic Range Archive uploads of the CD and vinyl here.

I was basing my impression of the album on the CD, since it's what I own. Haven't heard it on vinyl though, I'd be interested to hear a version that's more dynamic. Thanks for the info!

I honestly preferred Be here now to morning glory, though be here now isn't quite as good as definately maybe, which i say is the best Oasis album

I don't get what you mean about the dynamic range, oasis albums are known for the opposite. they are loud, compressed, with little dynamic range. an oasis album would sound the same on cd, vinyl and cassette: distorted, brickwalled and compressed.
