I also sincerely appreciate how you have coached your students not to criticize when a student doesn't sing the resting tone correctly and they jump in to try to "fix" it for another child. I think that's the maturity difference between some of my younger students and middle school/junior high age students. Have you done this activity with students who are younger? (possibly just more simplified or scaffolded more?)
In a Waldorf school, this is likely to work with Grade Three children and older. I especially like two groups, two parts, switch parts back and forth.
