Of all the Somali people I have encountered in my life including my father, Nuruddin Farah is one of the person I admire the most - He is one of the strenuous intellect deportment Somali man who is very passionate about his people and his culture. I wish we had more like him…May Allah bless you and the days to come, Nuruddin!
I wish we had just one writer like him from Eritrea. Listening and reading Mr Nuruddin, I'm nearly drawn to be jealous - but as he is speaking to all of humanity, I am just grateful.
one will wonder why he is using this secularism in every sentence of his answer, he is making it sound like secularism brings peace and prosperity, peace comes only with will of the people and the help of Allah. peace comes with justice equality and the respect for the weak, peace comes with following our religion the way it is, peace comes with taqwa of Allah and following the Sunnah of the prophet ASW. i agree with him on the education and ppe should be educated but not the secular education cuz it doesnt do any good thing fo the pple. in the end May Allah Guide us to the right path and make us those that follow the Kitab and sunah the way it is. amin
Dahir, the man was asked a question and he pointed out a historical fact, contrasted with the present Somalia many will exchange it for the secular past,at least one had a semblance of peace. His secularist position does not make him anti-islam ,it is rather borne out of his frustration with the current muderous Al-Shabab ideology ,that is every bit the antithesis of the tenets of Islam. My opinion is if we cannot flawlessly use religion to bring justice to our people ,we should not misrepresent it, to further our deluded quest for myopic power.
verse (Maida 5:30) “His carnal, evil-commanding soul prompted him to kill his brother, and he killed him, thus becoming among the losers” became the trailblazer on a horrible path which leads to Eternal Fire; he virtually breached a dam that was to be followed by a great flood. For this reason, when God’s Messenger narrated this sad event he said: “The son of Adam has a share (of sin) from the blood of anyone unjustly killed; for he was the one who started killing the first time.” May Allah guide us all. Stop killing your ppl

Five years on, this interview is still relevant of what 🇸🇴 is going through. Hopefully the future holds better a future for our country
Absolutely , keep in mind that the final destiny belongs to women and younger generations. No more worry about.
Somali scholar💐💐
His commitment to equality and freedom and the supremacy of the individual nearly got him killed more than once. I have high respect.
