  • Hi friends, I wanted to share my journey with Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy, or ICP, because I didn't know anyone who had it and was super scared when I was diagnosed. If this video provides you with some new info or helps in anyway, I'd love to hear from you in the comments :) Thanks for watching!

    I’m amazed at how we women Can know sometimes more than doctors.. I’ve have encountered some pretty bad ones that they do this check up on automatic and may miss so many important details- thank God you didn’t just “trust” but did your own research and care to share it with us . I’m awake at 3 am (haven’t been able to sleep at all and 50% is because of the intense itching - I’m calling my OBGYN in a few hours. Im 36 weeks we’ll see what she says.
    May the Lord guide her and let my baby be born safe.

      Thank you, Renee. I'm sorry to hear about your itching. It's such a scary time. Praying for you and your baby too. Hope all goes well with your doctor and they make smart decisions. ❤

    I'm surprised how OBGYNs don't inform their patients of this as a potential threat... there is so much that isn't disclosed when it should be!

    I was just diagnosed with ICP. I saw something online about itchy and I brought it up to my doctor. She did labs right away for me. I am only 21weeks at this time and I have been told I will be induced at 37weeks and start with weekly ultrasounds by 28weeks. I am also being put on medicine as well for it. (My Labs were only 20 so not very high but I guess still concerning).

    This has been the scariest experience of my life. I am getting an ultrasound on my liver because my ALT levels are in the 500 range and AST is in the 200s. Bile acids are 52 which isn’t great but not terrible. My high risk OB told me that anything over 100 gets risky but she’s treating another lady whos bile acids are in the 250 range!

    I had cholestasis during my pregnancy and my doctor didn't help and acted like I was having psychotic breakdown. The itching started at 30 weeks and I went into preterm labor at 34 weeks. 😭

    Thank you for sharing your story - I am currently 38 weeks pregnant and have been itching for about 3 weeks. My AST and bile acid (they didn't test my ALT) came back normal, but they had me to test when I was about 12 hours fasted. Were your tests fasted or nonfasted? I'm seeing conflicting studies on whether the ICP testing should be done fasted or not.

    • @Mahsajoyce

    I have hade ICP drink my pregnancy with my son over 7 years ago.I live in Sweden and heard from my midwife it is normal,but it wasn't because I've hade it at 6 weeks.No one I knew had it so I was reading a lot about this on google.It tourned out that in my case when I stop eating a lot of khale and spinach the symptoms diminshed.Here in Sweden I didn't got any tests at all,and I can tell that it was hell, not just itching but it was more burning sensation and the one thing that helped me was lukewarm or cold shower and that was for a short time.Sorry for my English I rarely write in this lengauge.😅😅

    • @Mahsajoyce
      @Mahsajoyce  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just tell her you think it's cholestasis and want to do Bloodwork! If she doesn't send you for blood work go to your family doctor. Definitely get tested asap! Keep pushing.

      I'm in the same situation. I'm 35 weeks now. I have seen 2 different dermatologists. my entire body is itchy, my scalp is itchy. Also my npc and midwife. They gave me itching scream that's all. They also tested my thyroid it was fine. The problem is still here. Last week I asked my doc to test my bile acid and love function. He said yes. Just say you want the test done to be sure.
