This song was written by Elsie McWilliams, Jimmie Rodger's sister-in-law. She wrote several of his songs. My mother was a friend of Elsie's for many years and when I was very young, maybe 6 years old, my parents took me to Elsie's house (I think in Meridian MS) and she sat at the piano and played and sang a couple of songs for us. She must have been about 75 at the time. It wasn't until many years later that I realized how fortunate I was to hear her sing and play in her own house!
