बांग्लादेश की प्रधानमंत्री शेख हसीना के देश से जल्दबाजी में और बिना किसी औपचारिकता के चले जाने से न केवल भारत सरकार को नुकसान हुआ है, बल्कि उसे हाल के दिनों में पड़ोस में संभवतः सबसे बड़ी विदेश नीति चुनौती का सामना करना पड़ा है. जिसके कारण इस साल मालदीव के साथ संबंधों में आई उथल-पुथल पार्क में टहलने जैसी लग सकती है. अपनी कई असफलताओं और घरेलू राजनीति में लगातार अस्थिर स्थिति के बावजूद भारत के नजरिये से हसीना ने धार्मिक चरमपंथियों और भारत विरोधी ताकतों को कंट्रोल में रखकर क्षेत्रीय स्थिरता के लिए काम किया. एनएसए अजीत डोभाल ने हिंडन एयरबेस पर हसीना से मुलाकात की.

असम के मुख्यमंत्री हिमंत बिस्वा सरमा ने रविवार को कहा कि उनकी सरकार जल्द ही ‘लव जिहाद’ के मामलों में आजीवन कारावास की सजा के लिए नया कानून लाएगी. यहां राज्य भाजपा कार्यकारिणी की बैठक में उन्होंने कहा, “हमने चुनाव के दौरान ‘लव जिहाद’ के बारे में बात की थी. हम जल्द ही एक कानून लाएंगे, जिसमें ऐसे मामलों में आजीवन कारावास की सजा होगी.”
