I’m a Liverpool fan. What he said was correct. If you told us last season we were going against Madrid with that midfield (with how Gravenberch and Jones looked last season and with a brand new manager) most of us would understandably think we were going to lose again. We weren’t saying that before the game this time because we’ve seen how good Jones and Gravenberch are under Arne Slot. And it is a testament to how far those players have come and the job the manager has been able to do.
The excuse that losing a few players, is an absolute joke given who they have available to fill these places. Should never lose a game with the subs they have. Spurs had both CBs out injured and battered them
Every team will be weaker without their best player, which is why I hate the “one player team” jibe that some clubs get, but City, of all teams, should be the team least affected by having one or two players out. They’re the most equipped team to deal with their current situation, and it’s laughable for anyone to say their firm is all down to Rodri or Dias. Absolute nonsense. In case my town comes across different when being read, as opposed to its intention as I’m typing - I’m with you in this, 100%
Their game management is "just score another goal" . Like Alan said, there's a minute to go, City's struggling for form, winning by a goal, and they took a quick free kick 😂. That's beyond mental. I heard someone say they play like 2010s Arsenal, but with world class players.

Signing Mbappe in 2024 was always going to be an issue. I, as a casual football fan could see this coming a mile off, so surely gifted football minds could as well. For me its a timing issue. Let’s say that Mbappe had moved to Madrid in 2021 or 2022. He would have been the undisputed number one choice on the left side cutting in. However, over the past few years Vinicius Junior has blossomed into a fully fledged world class player, not just a talented player who produces the odd moment of genius. Also, the fact that Vinicius Junior has been an integral part in League and Champions League winning teams as the left sided forward makes him undroppable for me. Mbappe messed Real around for years, but their obsession with signing him coupled with his ‘galactico’ status to sell tickets for the revamped Bernabeu has lead to this headache. Even without the benefit of hindsight, they should have pursued an out and out Benzema replacement, someone like Dusan Vlahovic, or kept Jude in the false 9 role and looked for a Joselu replacement to add impact from the bench.
On the Vinicius-Mbappe issue - I hope casual observers realize now just how good a player Karim Benzema was for Real Madrid. An elite striker in his own right, but with the adaptability and WILLINGNESS to sacrifice his own numbers and stats to enable Cristiano Ronaldo to rack them up season after bloody season. One of Madrid's best ever, in any era, and I hope some day he is acknowledged as such.
I can one up Lineker. As a Liverpool fan I was watching the 2005 champions league final in Sydney Australia late at night. At 3 nothing for Milan I thought, yeah this is done. Didn't even check the result in the morning. 😅

The next morning I tried to check in an internet cafe on a dial-up connection, which was a waste of ten mins. I was sure we would have lost to that Milan team anyway. Later that day I arrived in a bigger city and heard some guy talking about the game and couldn't believe what he was saying!
Great tribute to Saka Charles, everything you said it's so true - we are so incredibly lucky to have, we can only hope we have for a long, long time yet, if so you can very easily imagine we'll be talking about in the vein of Henry, Bergkamp, Wrighty as one of if not potentially the best to ever play for the club!

Micah was one of the best early pick ups on Football manager '05, hard to getting him to sign a contract after he'd had 3 years at Sampdoria though. If you had him and Marcelo you'd be eyeing Europe within 2 seasons. Di Maria wasn't even close
15:30 Micah that’s a wild statement. He’s not even been the best midfielder, Gravenberch has been by a mile our best! Mac Allister has been brilliant too, not trying to play down how good Curtis has been. But that statement was wrong😅 and Curtis only really got chances in the team after the Chelsea game, barely played before that
Curtis Jones is still too ponderous on the ball. It's less of an issue under Slot, but he was still caught out a few times against Real Madrid attempting to dribble through unnecessary danger, when a simple pass to someone who's free was on. If Real had scored from the resulting breakaways, we'd be hearing about these. He's more prone to this than Gravenberch, because he hasn't got any pace to actually stride away.

Gentlemen, you have the best football podcast. Enthusiastic and unbiased. I have a lot of admiration for you! My apologies for sharing my opinion about Pep Guardiola today. He is a genius in his field, but not always fair towards Africans players. Personally, I have no connection to Africans, but perhaps I have been following Pep Guardiola and José Mourinho for too long. I enjoy football and admire players without considering their race; unfortunately, not everyone does the same.
Thank you for mentioning Feyenoord…I agree that city was far better, even after the 75th minute. However, when you get gifts, you need to unpack them. Especially the last one, that pass from Paxiao. It was perfect. Little bit ignorant if you ask me for not mentioning Feyenoord but okay.
Man City let go a lot of talent and the inexplicable selling of their KNOWN wonderkid, Cole Parmer, for a meagre 40m to Chelsea - looks even more crazy now...
As i said when he got injured. Man City will miss Rodri big time, not just on the pitch but in the locker room. The have a lot of stars but Rodri is the team leader and makes other players accountable.
Remember Man City vs Real Madrid in 2022? Real Madrid reached the Champions League final, pulling one goal back in the 90th minute, equalising in stoppage time and winning it in extra time.
Micah and Alan are missing the obvious about City (and Alan was there with it happening right in front of him :D): they controlled the game until Gundogan and Ake went off after 70 mins. After that, they had no control at all. I'd say the biggest failing of City in the last few years was the way it didn't work out for Kalvin Phillips. They could really use his high energy pressing and tenacity now. Apart from that, Micah is right about the departures of Alvarez and Mahrez leaving them short of goals - with De Bruyne and Foden also out of action a lot and Gundogan now having to play the disciplined midfield role (as no one else who's fit looks capable of it) they are struggling. They can't control the midfield (and therefore can't control the games) right now though, that's what's costing them so many goals.
I would posit that Liverpool, the last 5-6 years, have been the most emotionally and mentally resilient team. Coming soo close many times and still getting up for it. Dealing with massive injuries eg VVD out for a season and scrapping for champions. This City team has yet to experience the same level of adversity until this season.
injuries to Konate, Salah etc. derailed Liverpool last season & exhausted them for the run in. the only thing that can stop Liverpool is their own injuries. no Konate on Sunday is the first huge problem
We lost 12 players at one point in April and the kids did well, we made a mistake rushing non match fit players back and lost five games. The teams that beat us in the cups went on to win the cups.
I think Liverpool are holding off making Salah an offer as they want to see his form at the end of the season. He has started like a train, but it is likely he will have a dip for a few games. Luckily no sign of that yet so perhaps the uncertainty around his contract is keeping him fired up. They should give him a new contract but on the same terms as he’s in now as he’s at his peak.
He used to have the luxury of being able to sub player for player with no loss of quality. Sterling could drop a banger 9/10, and he would be sat next game for sane and mahrez play. Or Alvarez can play for haaland. Or they have 15 cbs yo rotate. Their starting midfield is two 30+ year old who are natural CMs.

Micah was one of the best early pick ups on Football manager '05, hard to getting him to sign a contract after he'd had 3 years at Sampdoria though. If you had him and Marcelo you'd be eyeing Europe within 2 seasons. Di Maria wasn't even close
alan needs a proper mic
sound isn’t the best
I wondered if he was too far away from it
Seems fine to me
His room is a bit reverberant, could do with some sound absorption on the walls.
Could do with a microphone like Gary’s
15:30 Micah that’s a wild statement. He’s not even been the best midfielder, Gravenberch has been by a mile our best! Mac Allister has been brilliant too, not trying to play down how good Curtis has been. But that statement was wrong😅 and Curtis only really got chances in the team after the Chelsea game, barely played before that
Micah says ‘I was never a great player’ shearer and lineker carrying on with the conversation confirms they agreeed 😂😂
It drives me insane, he always has to take 3 or 4 touches on the ball.
The video title is diabolical 😅 considering Peps self harm concerns
Oh stop it.
Self-harm concerns! 😂😂
@@davecrawley4634 Oh behaaave
It's beginning to look Arne Slot like Christmas!
Don't give up your day job
They have 9 games in December to play let’s see how they go first
@@macurlyfriesit’s hurting you innit 😊
@@stephenwooding8704There’s no denying that everybody including the hypocritical ‘PUNDITS’ is showing how negative and jealous they are if Man City played like Liverpool this season especially with R.Madrid they will be put on a pedestal but because it’s Liverpool there saying other teams are playing crap😂😢
4 of our last 5 games are Arsenal, Spurs, Brighton away & Chelsea
This pod is such much entertainment and footballperspective from a good spread trio:) ynwa...of course.
No mention of 100 million on Grealish or is it because he’s English 🤷♂️
Gentlemen, you have the best football podcast. Enthusiastic and unbiased. I have a lot of admiration for you! My apologies for sharing my opinion about Pep Guardiola today. He is a genius in his field, but not always fair towards Africans players. Personally, I have no connection to Africans, but perhaps I have been following Pep Guardiola and José Mourinho for too long. I enjoy football and admire players without considering their race; unfortunately, not everyone does the same.
This Sunday match is crucial and the most important so far this 1/4 of the season 👏
Good to hear Micah is/was into Football Manager. Micah was, himself, a wonderkid on FM before he burst onto the scene in real life.
Best attacking player in the world this year:
1. Mo Salah
2. Vinciois Jnr
3. Lewindoski
4. Messi
5. Harland
Man City let go a lot of talent and the inexplicable selling of their KNOWN wonderkid, Cole Parmer, for a meagre 40m to Chelsea - looks even more crazy now...
Obviously would've rather not have an injury to Odegaard but glad that it's shown people outside the fanbase how immense he is
Lineker is the first pundit to get the Gravenberg pronunciation right.
Best podcast I've seen.
I love you video 😂😂
As i said when he got injured. Man City will miss Rodri big time, not just on the pitch but in the locker room. The have a lot of stars but Rodri is the team leader and makes other players accountable.
This is where we see how good pep really is when he’s proper put to the test
Signing Mbappe was a ridiculous thing to do when they had no plan on how to fit him into the team.
Remember Man City vs Real Madrid in 2022? Real Madrid reached the Champions League final, pulling one goal back in the 90th minute, equalising in stoppage time and winning it in extra time.
Not surprised by Bradley’s showing against real. He showed last season, if we lose Trent, he will be a more than able replacement.
Milan had the Dutch trio we got the Dutch quad in Van dijk-Gravenbach - Gakpo and Slot ynwa
Ederson the best goalkeeper in the world????? 🤣🤣🤣Laughable.
You are doing fine with the Dutch names. Leave it to the French reporters to butcher the Dutch names.
Micah always good for a laugh
Guardiola has turned into prime ETH since Slot arrived
Y'all never talk about Konaté's influence on that backline but playing under Virgil's shadow you'd go unnoticed i reckon 😅
He is out for months now
Who is “y’all”

Great episode
Big Meeks : “ the better talker “
injuries to Konate, Salah etc. derailed Liverpool last season & exhausted them for the run in. the only thing that can stop Liverpool is their own injuries. no Konate on Sunday is the first huge problem
The three Musketeers
Brilliant podcasters
If Salah was playing for France & Mbabbe for Eygpt.... it wld be a different story
Who is this dude, Mbabbe?
@ph8077 🤣 just this over rated French bloke a
I think city have 115 problems, and their medals could be taken off them 😂🤷♂️😂
I also think Ancelotti has been stubborn. He should have stuck to the same tactics as last season
Coner done his hamstring by the looks of it, though, but trent is now back, that is why you need a good bench
All the pundits desperately hoping for the Liverpool 'sticky period' since the beginning of the season 😂😂😂
What about the PSV result! An even crazier record! They were losing 0-2 until the 87th minute and ended up winning 3-2!
