Fantastic piano
When the Frank Mills version was on the radio I was 8 and preparing for my first ice skating competition. I needed music for my long program and my coach heard it, and came running into the rink during my group class screaming "I found it!". He was right because I won my very first competition to Music Box Dancer.

Oh Wow! I was 8 too!!! I was living in San Francisco and the San Francisco Music Box Company even had one with this song. I bought the album at Tower Records. It sounds like pure joy going on forever and ever.....

I'm the same age and I even tried to play this on a piano but I was only taking piano lessons for a year. I was young and Dad wouldn't help with paying for music lessons. They say a person is never too old to try new things. 😁
@@wendyawegerer3767 This is still my favorite piano piece out of all of hte songs I ever learned playing piano when I did. I still have the first sheet music from when learning the song. I only played piano for a few years, but this brings back so may memories, I like FranK Mills' better, but this version is really interesting to listen to with all of the other instruments.
When I was about 10-12, daddy and I went out to hunt this down on a 45 rpm record in a record store. Daddy's gone now, but it still cherish his collection and this song. Last week I found this full lp SEALED at Goodwill for $1.
Music box dancer has always been my absolute favorite classical peice.
I am 53 years old now and every night I play the extended version and asleep before it ends.
I am 52 also, my ol' man adored this musical piece..
It has been said that this lovely piece was written by a father who was asked by his daughter to fix her music box, and that while doing so, this came to mind... What a beautiful classic that became a hit during a time of "Hard Rock."

Just awesome. I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. I first heard this at about 4 or 5, but could never match the NAME until 2007. When Daniel Mendez played it on his PIano Juggler performance at halftime of a Sonics game in 2007-08, all then-34 years of me started bawling in the stands! And the next day, somebody matched the name of the song with the tune, "because it's his mother's favorite song." I played the original by Frank Mills, and I started crying and bawling right on the computer keyboard!

This music was played on radio in the eighties in Poland. I remembered the melody, but I didn't know the title. Now and thank google you can sing a melody and google will find out the title, an I found this after more than 30 years :)

This song has always been known as music box dancer. For those who didn't know the original version spent quite some time in the top ten chart and at number one as well. I think this version may have been there as well. A lot of great music came out around this time and earlier.
It doesn't get any better than this, both versions of this song is simply beautiful song, although Mills' is my favorite.
Beautiful ethereal music. I cried when I heard this again. It brought memories, mostly warm and nostalgic. It also reminded me of some memories that were painful and tragic. I have been listening to this music for the last two hours - Frank Mills' extended version, Frank Mills' single version, and finally Richard Clayderman's version. Overall, the music is eternal.

I remember writing a program on my TI-99/4A computer back in the early 1980's when I was 12 or so years old to play this song... :) I had to learn the frequencies for all the notes, and then program the sound chip to play the chords. While rudimentary by today's standards, the sound chip was quite capable for its time, being able to synthesize three independently timed tones and one white noise generator, which I used for the percussion.
...and today I'm a software architect, almost retired...
When I was little, we had the big console record/ radio/ record holder in our living room, the ones with the sliding doors on top
