Irresponsible Festus Okoye
The Nigerian elites mentality. They just explain it away and none will hold them accountable for offending the law. In a new Nigeria, the rule of law must prevail and justice must not be equated with anything.
Channels TV has become a hive where corrupt agency officials come to tell lies with impunity and unprovoked.
The flaws
1. Late arrival of material resulted in late resumption which made it possible for citizens to be disenfranchised.
2. Mutilated results uploaded to Irev
3. Upload of blurry PU results
4. Videos of Citizens barred from voting by thugs of the ruling party
5. Snatching & destruction of ballot boxes & cooked up result collated for those PU
6. Non upload of results immediately after voting at PU levels
7. Upload of blank sheet & unrelated documents as PU result
Etc.
Inec is more corrupt when compared to our police service after all the Rec of Adamawa state declared a winner & ordered the state security chiefs to go with him as if they are just his boys
These are excusable flaws and cannot be said to be enough to qualify election as non credible...
1- Late arrival of materials are somewhat a problem and existential, but anyone accredited and online by 2:30 will be allowed to vote, some actually have to come the following day to vote.
2- All the IRev noise are actually lazy arguments because IRev never authenticate or define the result declared.. And for the fact that all Political parties shd have copies is enough to end all the noise and present such at the Tribunal.
We have mistaken IRev with Bvas
Blurry, blank or whatever the complain, no Political Party had said or complained that they don't have result sheet from over 176000 polling units, so why the noise.
And to blame the INEC commission on d action of one or two adhoc or permanent staff of the commission is actually unfair...
Nothing is wrong with this election, we agree that Senate and HOR results were uploaded and there is no much noise about it with APC having about 59 Senators and LP having 8...but we know that the election OF president, Senate and Fed HOR are done on the same day and it's natural and Cultural that the results of President will not be different from that of Senate and HOR
Totally agree! By allowing some results from APC-heavy areas and cancelling results from opposition areas because APC thugs disrupted the peaceful voting, INEC is indirectly helping APC. Maybe there should have been repeat of voting. Even as that, still they refused to upload result to allow them to manipulate the results. Technology did not fail us, INEC did.
You can make excuses for them all you want. If you or I was given the type of funds they had by a private organisation to provide a set outcome & we deliver this kind of outcome we did be relieved of our appointment without questions. We ought to demand more from our public officers & institutions thats the only way we can prosper faster as a country & meet up with the rest of the world

@ezekiel @okiemut What makes these elections non credible is not the "excusable flaws", but the lack of transparency with regard to acknowledging and explaining them to the electorate once they have been discovered. Election credibility depends on INEC credibility. INEC credibility depends on trust, confidence and 100% good-will. Even when the inevitable mistake are make, INEC must give the electorate no single reason to doubt it's underlying motives and intentions. It must not intentionally deceive.
Now, the term "glitches" is never used as a fault description or observation by computing professionals. Whatever the truth is, to an impartial observer, INEC "appears" for some reason to be hiding it.
So, we now have at least one arguable case of deliberate deception, thus challenged INEC credibility, thus challenged election process credibility. I believe a tribunal would follow some similar logical process with regard to the other "excusable flaws".

Mr Okoye said that some senators-elect have confessed that if not for BVAS they wouldn't have the chance of being elected. Ask Mr Okoye if some Presidential candidates will not say the same thing if Presidential results were transmitted to IREV portal like that of National assembly results.

They did not review the results before announcing Tinubu but now Aturu-Ewu Okoye is now saying they will review the results later this year after the INEC selected President has been sworn in

It is unbelievable that Festus Okoye can be saying the evaluation of the election can not be reduced to results upload. What then gives credibility to the election. Is the duplicate copy of election results with polling agents acceptable to INEC at the collation Centre?. Festus, this a bold face shameless disregard for the law.
They reviewed the results of Enugu and Abia before a return was made. Why didn't they do the same for the presidential election? These anchors, especially the ladies, hardly ever ask reasonable questions.
Reviewing election performance is for LATER. Questioning those suspected of crimes is for NOW. Mr. Okoye should not allow his inaction or negligence to make HIM complicit in an injustice.
If I recall very well, Mr Okoye came out to explain the malfunctioning of the presidential election result portal after Nigerians raised alarm.
This was 24 or 48 hours after the election on 25/2/23.
Asked to know whether INEC would ever apologize for letting the voters down, he said they had offered an explanation (an explanation which was demanded for before being given by them).
Let INEC be reminded that explanation does not amount to apology .
If their failure to upload the presidential election results was not deliberate, they should not only explain what happened but also APOLOGIZE.

This would ensure that all interviewees take an oath before the interview, and it would serve as a reminder that they are under oath when answering questions. In the event that any of them are found to be deceiving us, we would be able to take legal action against them. Some of them are simply taking us Nigerians as fools with some of their answers.

The NASS elections results were uploaded from the polling unit but that of the Presidential done the same day, same polling unit, with the same device could not be uploaded. So NASS election outcomes was seen & adjudged credible because INEC allowed the wish of the people to count but refused to allow the wish of the people to count at the Presidential elections.

Chief Okoye should understand that the results management is the most critical phase of the process. So it's difficult for me to understand his argument.
