You did a phenomenal job making this tutorial. I plan on watching the whole series. I have never donated before but this just seems too perfect not to.
@@SeedtoStage Yo I met you in an Ethiopian Restaurant! I loved this video so much I bought your course and it changed my life. You are a GAME CHANGING force!!!
I know this video has been around for years now, and I've watched it before - but honestly, this is STILL hands down the best Operator tutorial/demonstration/sound design idea video I've seen. These videos actually make me EXCITED to use Ableton Live... Anthony, your passion for Ableton and music production in general is contagious!
Great video! I’ve been obsessed with Operator for years and I’m in the process of building a dedicated hardware midi rig specifically to access all the “hidden” features. Operator is a contender for my favorite synth of all time
Totally NOT boring, and an absolutely amazing tutorial! Your excitement showing off these cool ways to access these crazy sounds is very infectious! Kudos and thank you!
dude, no idea if you still read these comments but I'm gonna say it anyway. You are a GREAT teacher. Not only because you can explain things very clearly but because you actually know wtf you're talking about and that comes across very well. No bullshitting at any point. AND you make it funny. Kudos to you sir. Thank you for the tutorials!
I was thinking "Man, I hope he does a video with some practical applications of all this crazy powerful stuff!" And then 1 minute later you announced it. Thanks again, this is really great stuff. I'm thinking to make a whole tune with only Operator just for practice.
Thanks mate! i always tell my students that operator its an amazing machine ... but they are always like.. uhhh i want Serum, i only can use Diva bla bla bla.... so i show them this video and now they are getting the power of Opetaror ,
Just picked up your sound synthesis course! Stoked for when your pigments one comes out too! Thanks for all that you do man. Your stuff has been super helpful and really inspiring for sure!
how fun is that?? 😂 thank you so much for sharing all of this. No better way to learn that listening to someone get excited about a domain they’ve mastered. You rock ❤
So much good stuff in here. A superb crash course in the basics of synthesis delivered in really clear concise way. Rapid fire voiceover and sound examples gets right to point. Best Operator tutorial I’ve seen.
I'm here because I would like to learn Operator. But now I would also like to know your story to understand how you can know so much and explain it so clearly if you hesitate.
great video! I learned two new things 1) I had no idea all the ways the time parameter could interact with everything else, nor all the connection A and B whatsits, so that was really cool and informative. 2) I should really upgrade from the ableton live version i got in 2015 cos the filter settings have improved exponentially since I downloaded this crack in high school haha. I'd usually just end up slapping the autofilter on my chain cos of how little the version 9.1.10 filter parameter could do
Was looking at a vid about dub techno chords, he used massive to create the saw wave sound.. and atlas for the kicks, I didn't want to install massive so I looked for operator sound creation and ended up learning how to create percussion lol operator gives you much more control over how you want your drums, kicks etc to sound.. nice tutorial
Watched the whole thing in one go! In fact I watched your entire operator series in one binge this evening! :) All because I was on the fence getting Serum/Diva something - but I thought that maybe check operator/analog out first.. Thanks a lot for these tutorials they're awesome! Especially for me as a beginner producer! Definitely going to force use operator exclusively on my tracks for a while - see what happens/sounds ;)
about 2/3rds through atm, just scotch taping my brain back together, that's good stuff. i'm no stranger to ol' OP, but i'm getting that feeling like i just found a new room in a house i'd been living in for a few years, just all of a sudden. Timbre's 4 dayzzzzz
3:49, for kick (the white noise variant), put arp in front of it, set it on "Free", hold a key and play around with the frequency. Once you do that, type in the comment how much fun you had. It literally made my day. Now some chorus and panning and it would be even awesomer.
Love your content. I am new to Ableton and I have been watching a lot of pretentious twats with fancy cameras, loads of fluff and little information. This is straight to the point, no fancyness and finally useful. If I can only offer a suggestion, since this is a introduction video to the subject maybe offer a quick word on the technical terms when they come up. I don t find it particularly negative since I can just pause and look it up, but sometimes when there is a bunch of those in rapid fire it can feel like jargon. Otherwise amazing stuff, thanks a bunch!
It's great that you're taking your time to look things up, even if it is annoying. However, explaining every little thing would be redundant, as many elements are present on all synths (LFO, ADSR, envelope, routing options....). I'd strongly suggest figuring out these features on a regular synth, then come back for FM.
Fantastic. I keep under estimating operator, pfff. I just need to buy a couple of studio stuff more, but will invest in your academy. As an old man I need time to process this ;) I'm sure your knowledge will further elevate my skills. Thanks for the insight.
The last video was very high quality video. This video the image is blurry like 480p what happens there. I love seeing this in qhd or 4k omg. Thanks for the info you helped me so much with this plugin. .
I am used to sytrus in fl studio. But I have been expanding my daws. Ableton has a very different work flow but way better effects for plugins. It makes my music more enhanced.I'm trying to integrate my options of being an ableton user. I love ableton so much. I've been using fl as a pro for 15 years now I'm opening my options. It's hard getting used to a new program. So I need help lol.
This is one of the best tutorials I've ever seen, thank you so much, I will be checking out the rest of the videos hoping there's something like this for everything in Ableton 🙏😂
At 5:06 when you pull the envelope back up, I don't get a bassy kick sound at all. Just a slightly more high-pitched zapping noise. What am I doing wrong?

7 minutes in is hwere I had to pause and stare at the screen in realization of what an amazing powerfull tool I've been ignoring for so long.
It was 2 minutes for me
Im so sorry operator.
I feel like Neo when he learned Kung Fu in 2 seconds.
Expect this is 3 and half hour hehes :D
ahahah thanks for the laugh man
dude you are fantastic, Ableton should hire you!
Seed to Stage is the the new ableton newsletter's star in my inbox today. Congratulations. Your content rules.
"Feel me?"
And i felt that

I have watched quite a bit of ableton tutorials, this hands-down is the best one for Operator that i've seen.

Wow, best operator tutorial ever. Thank you so much!
best operator tutorial ever, mark my words
Your tutorials are so good. For a "boring deep dive" that was pretty exciting.
My mind has been blown so many times this is like a deep course on FM synthesis I'm going to have to watch this multiple times
Great Job, Thank you... this was super informative and deep but easy to follow
Thanks!
Your channel is Gold!
Your enthusiasm is unmatched sir! 🙌
Anthony, this video was amazing!!! I learned so much about operator. Gonna have to watch multiple times. Can't wait for the next one!!!
wow. been using operator for quite a while and still haven't discovered all the amazing sounds. thanks a lot for this great tutorial!
Totally NOT boring, and an absolutely amazing tutorial! Your excitement showing off these cool ways to access these crazy sounds is very infectious! Kudos and thank you!
I have to watch these two videos 10x
Ha me too...i found going through and matching each step in the vid and pausing worked best ....it took three hours though. ;)
Please do more synthesis, sounddesign and mixing videos. Just became a patreon, great content!

Well hot damn! So glad I watched this. Had a feeling Operator could do more than I thought. Mind is racing now with possibilities.... Thank you!
Thanks for this video and the overview. I think this has been one of the more helpful “this is synthesis “ types of videos.
Hands down THE BEST Operator tutorial. Thank you!
Spot on wrt to the reverb / effects. This is a raw FM gem.
This is the top video about this tool. Thank you so much.
The most complete video about operator i think. Good job man, very interesting and useful, thanks

how cool was that, very cool! thanks brother

I learned a lot about the pitch envelop part. I didn't know you could map it to anything. Great stuff!
Tryed to watch the whole video without opening Ableton. Failed after 17min. XD
Watched the whole video though, thanks so much, learned a lot!
So much good stuff in here. A superb crash course in the basics of synthesis delivered in really clear concise way. Rapid fire voiceover and sound examples gets right to point. Best Operator tutorial I’ve seen.
10:24 sounds like the technique used on Machine Gun by Portishead for that main riff
I'm here because I would like to learn Operator. But now I would also like to know your story to understand how you can know so much and explain it so clearly if you hesitate.
Use the program a lot, read the tooltip box, read the manual...whatever his story is, he spent a lot of time with Ableton Live.

Hey HeyHate, you should really upgrade, because the filters' improvement was massive
These are the most informative videos I have watch.
eyy thankks for putting that extra 10% into making this production tutorial well paced and exiting. sick of boring production tutorials
Only 12 mins in and already learned so much.
Damn! Ableton should take your tutorial to an official tutorial!
Excellent thank you 🙂
u know more about the operator, then most of ableton certified trainers that i know. great tutorial
super very helpful, thanks!!!!
28:04 That chuckle. This guy. haha, thx for the video!

EMar dub Chords can easily be created by operator
Whenever I set an envelope to Sync, the repeats are consistently slightly off-beat; they start repeating too late . Anybody know how to solve this?
such a great channel, subbed and psyched. I been doing this for 10 years and still learning loads from you
