Good call on the 20mm core. The #1 reason I see people give up on certain thermoformed paddles is that they just don’t feel like they have enough control. So, this should be interesting and a first. Side note: as a marketer for my own businesses, I think leaning hard on this aspect of the paddle from a marketing standpoint is a great unique selling point. Good luck!
Confused because he literally says that it’s not actually a 20mm “core” but rather a 16mm while the overall thickness is 20mm so how is that different than all the other companies that simply say they are a 16mm “core”??
The thickness isn’t actually different though… they just advertise overall thickness while everyone else advertises core thickness. Very strange. Still probably a great paddle but doesn’t sound like thickness is actually anything different
Thanks Will! We would love to send you one once we're up and rolling. Let me know if you would like to give it a try sometime. Keep up the awesome videos!!!
Yes, there’s one I know of that’s producing for roughly 50% of the newer(and existing) companies. They are a go-to due to having a lot of the premade molds ready for anyone to use and just slap their own logo on. However, we didn’t go with them. And they are actually getting some heat from the USAPA from what I hear. But I just am hearing rumors and I don’t feel comfortable sharing anything in detail.
If you’re able to get us some info on the swing weight of the paddle, that would be huge. I know I’m not the only person that puts heavy emphasis on the swing weight/balance of a paddle, it would definitely make you even more unique providing that type of info.
Thanks for all your effort and dedication towards better paddles. I/we appreciate the honest and straightforward content. I can’t wait to read the reviews of the Slice once they start appearing. I just got my first thermoformed paddle (Legacy) and like it a lot. It doesn’t seem like there is a great deal of difference in the specs of thermoformed cores between different companies. What do you think is being done to differentiate one from another? Some have two core thicknesses and other feel they need only one. What are you thinking about for later models. Any interest in including some amount of EVA foam? So many questions!
Yes yes and yes, lol. There’s so much we want to explore. Certainly interested in more than just edge foam. But that gets tricky with USAPA. As for core thickness, I think it’s just that we’re all trying some new things and hoping something breaks through!
Hey, I love your videos. Could you explain the difference between 3k, 18k, and raw carbon? I understand the higher the k the more gritty and that it will be softer with a lower k. What are your thoughts
So the way I have been describing it is that T700 has the tightest weave then 3k gets wider and 18k is almost checkered it's so wide. Granted there are tons of carbon manufactures and these vary from supplier to supplier. We are tinkering to see if 3k would be nice on a paddle in the future. I know gearbox has had some success with it.
i just searched the USA Pickleball approved pickleball paddle list and couldnt find the Slice on the approved list. Has it been approved? If so what date was it approved and why is it not listed?
Thanks so much for this comment! The site was down all day and I had no clue. I connected a new app this morning and it took the site offline! Wow. Luckily it's back up!
If I place an order, is it at all possible to request that the paddle I get is more on the lighter side of the weight range? Cause there's a pretty big difference between 7.8oz and 8.4oz to me at least.

This is based on the person swinging the paddle. If you are looking to compare it to others it would need to be reviewed by pickleball studio or some one similar that has an existing data set.
Haha. I'm with you. I'm not pre-ordering any new product without a little extra incentive. Gonna wait for reviews on this one -- and ambassador discounts that will surely follow.
Larry you gonna also make a more traditional elongated shape for the retired tennis players 😀 who like longer paddles? Also based on the paddles some of who have followed you have seen you reviewed can u tell us or do comparison video to fine tune what we are buying without Chris or will or some reviewer reviewing it. Basically do your own review comparing to 6.0 or Warrior or Joola. Just pick a few and say where it lands in the spectrum of popular paddles?
I would recommend if you plan on being in business for any length of time, to have all your ducks in a row before you come out with your product. You are leaving more questions than answers and it's not going to go well for you when all these other companies have the details that you need to have.

Can’t wait to try it!! Thanks for all the awesome videos.
You should put a link to buy in the paddle description
I'd be surprised if this doesn't blow up in popularity over the thickness and all the new tech that's in it

LETS GO!!! I’m betting that Kiwi Labs will be getting lots of attention and I can’t wait to see how well you guys do in the future!
That’s so nice! Thanks!
Alright something a lil different! Looking clean

@@kiwilabspickleball yea man would love to give it try. Get your biz and everything squared away and let me know when you ready
A tough question for you. Are several of the small pickleball paddle companies having their paddles made in the same factories?
Yes, there’s one I know of that’s producing for roughly 50% of the newer(and existing) companies. They are a go-to due to having a lot of the premade molds ready for anyone to use and just slap their own logo on.

I played in a small round robin DUPR thing a couple weeks ago in Concord CA, and I'm certain I saw someone with one of your paddles.

Working on it! Hoping to have it before launch.

So what's the swing weight?

Also 700 is more expensive than 3k and 18k is the cheapest.

Can you talk about the carbon surface treatment? Is it raw, or painted, or what, and why did you go whichever route you did vs something else?
sure! this video covers that: th-cam.com/video/l3Ken8x-6So/w-d-xo.html

Yea! We added a drop down option to choose a size for a small additional cost.

Yeah, we are already working on an elongated paddle. Hopefully soon.
