No cause by the time you do a 4w combo the puyo player has the time to make a 10 chain that will be like 5 times more powerful than your 20 combo soooo not the best IMO. If you're playing against puyo you actually gotta spam tetrises. That way puyo has to deal with garbage and since most of the puyo players are used to counter rather than take garbage well they're all gonna hate you calling tetris overpowered.
Lilla Oshisaure Well, in some instances. An average 10 chain deals 500-600 nuisance puyos, where a 20 combo can do upwards of 600-800. Although they are tough to set up, they can be extremely overpowering.
This was so helpful. I've been at Tetris for a long time and I do well against Tetris opponents in Puyo Tetris, but I was unaware of the 4 wide combo until I saw this. This is really helpful against Puyo players especially. whom I've been struggling to win against.
@Вероника Заглотова But you're also making a good combo. And if you time it right, you can use garbage to extend the combo and send like several screenfulls of garbage to the puyo player, more than the biggest chains will negate, especially if your 4-1ide has some T spins in it
@Вероника Заглотова PP1 pretty darn good actually. in PP2, idk either i've gotten worse or everyone's gotten better haha. I must be getting old it seems like everyone is faster than I am lol
When starting the 4 wide, make sure the tetrimino that is poking out has 3 blocks/squares that are poking out and the rest is inside the part you're supposed to fill. Noticed this a bit too late...
@@bigbongus4908 he meant that you should place an piece with 3 blocks inside the place where you're supposed to do the 4 wide combo, otherwise it won't work as intended
@@bigbongus4908 yes. One of the blocks of the tetriminos must be outside the place where the 4 wide combo takes place, instead it must be part of the structure of the building. The other 3 are inside the combo hole
OP stacks NES Tetris: 1 wide until 4 high, then 2 wide (the 1 wide is to make a tetris) the 2 wide is to burn away any piece that doesn't fit the stack Puyo/99 tetris: 4 wide side or center (he explained it)
Jason Falzarano yea i think it’s a disadvantage that you can get ko’d while doing combos since you still can get garbage mid-combo but puyo players won’t get garbage when they are mid-chain.
@jamesfranko5098 visualize the four wide well. If there aren't any cubes in it, the only piece you can place in it to clear a single line and start a combo is thr L piece. Imagine one cube in the well. The only pieces that can combo are the L, J, and T pieces. Two cubes in the well, you have more options to combo, but the cubes and your pieces have to be very specific. Honestly, just try it out for yourself and you'll see what I mean This is some random tetris knowledge I somehow retained lol

I don't use this anymore, but I used to use a beginners strat to create a 2 well, but only fill it with long bars for tetris. The setup starts getting too high, so after about 6 tetris I decide to combo it and dig.
Here's a strong combo I like to use! 4-Wide DT Cannon Build a regular DT, preferably with a O, then an L and S or R and Z. Make sure that the overhang only consists of 3 blocks that are actually above the DT. Then simply build up and blast your opponent!
I'm still learning tetris, but as far as i know, to battle a 4w you have to use another 4w. If your oponent is building a 4w center, you can build a one at one side because they are faster to make and can K.O before the oponent can start anything.
That is the SRS Super Rotation Sistem It makes it able to put a piece in an unreachable spot with the rotation. Try to find a video about it, if want a further explanation.
My friend forces me to play switch mode because i use 3 wide combo which rekts his traditional tetris stacking. Too bad combos are pretty much moot in that mode. Most of the damage in switch comes for puyo pop or stacked tetrises.
Best thing to do? Make a well if you get Tetris first. Once it switches to puyo get a combo doing as it switches and when you get the bonus combo points from a puyo string use the 2 wide or 3 or 4 wide combo as attacking power
3:00 I'm gonna be that asshole and say that the centre 4-wide doesn't protect against a Top Out, it protects you from Block Out. And the fact that I know the difference means I am a loser nerd, so whatever.
And it was at this point that Tetris was no longer at a slight disadvantage...
