Obviously still a discrepancy, but nowhere close to his claim that soccer players run 9 miles more per game than basketball players. And then like you said, basketball is physically taxing in ways soccer is not. It requires 250+ lbs men to constantly jump, start, stop, and change direction at breakneck speed. Yes, basketball games are shorter, played indoors, and there are more stoppages, time outs, substitutions, and commercial breaks than soccer. Also, the guy's numbers are off. Soccer players run roughly 6.5 miles per game while basketball players run 2.5 miles per game. Obviously still a discrepancy, but nowhere close to his claim that soccer players run 9 miles more per game than basketball players.
