Kentucky was so upset over this loss that they would not negotiate to continue the annual rivalry game, unless it could be played on a neutral court. I was at the game, and still have the ticket, which Tom Crean autographed for me. The only more exciting game i can recall attending was the game when we defeated Duke at Lexington to go on to the championship game against Maryland in Atlanta. The single most exciting game I have ever attended.
I was in the Big Red Basketball Band at the Duke game at Rupp. Simply amazing... UK fans from in town were sitting behind us, cheering us on because they hoped to see the Dukies lose 🤣
Dude, I have to say that ever since I first saw this video in mid December, I have watched it at least 30 times. Being a lifelong Hoosier fan and native, I grew up shooting hoops on a backboard bolted to our barn and loved watching the IU vs. UK game every year with my dad. Setting the background music to the score from "Hoosiers" was genius and really helped underscore all the feelings of pride we have for our Indiana Hoosiers! Well done
Not really a Basketball fan at all, and not an Indiana fan, but I am a competitive sports person and I know what the desire to WIN is as a fan and competitor and watching the emotions come out from the 1 lonely guy in his living room to the sports bars to the actual arena and you can't help but get emotional watching this. INCREDIBLE moment here. Goosebumps!
@@cadenpowers8733 if the only loss my team takes is a hail mary buzzer beater so miraculous that its replayed years later im okay with that. Only loss they had that year, won the sec and ncaa titles that year and our star just won his first NBA title too. I'm happy 😃
I love this video it's just great a little background I am a 41 year old Englishman I don't watch basketball ever... but i still love the raw emotion that sports conjuour up in so many people just fantastic thanks for sharing
I'm a KY fan but I can respect moments like this, nobody loves a game that's 40 to 94 points, they enjoy a close good game and this one especially. you need rivals in sports, it makes it good
That's respect. Sad that some UK fans still get mad about this. Respect for other teams/players is a true fan. UK always has a great team, they just come up short on this game. But look where they went later that season :)
The first KY fan I've seen that actually is a passionate fan. I'm sorry that there are some bad apples in KY's fan base that makes passionate fans like you look bad.
I'm crying now as I watch this... And I am so proud to be an alumni of this great educational and athletic institution... I played baseball for the hoosiers from 1986 to 1990 when I graduated with honors, and I was in the villas when Keith hit the shot that last time we won it all... I was at Assembly hall for all of the games that magical year, and now we have a chance to do ot all again... This is the best team I have seen in my 30+ years as a fan and alumni... May we go far and winit all
Great video with hoosier music and don fischer making the call....been a hoosier fan since 1965 and this is one of their greatest games! thanks for the video
This is my favorite ending to a basketball game ever. I'm not even a fan of either team, but I'll never forget watching the ending of this with my mom and dad, I don't even know why we turned it on but I'm so glad we did. Unbelievable, unbelievable, can't believe it
Should have video taped my reaction too... All I remember is jumping up and down screaming "He made it!" over and over again. Doing my best job not to knock over the Xmas tree... then my wife comes running downstairs screaming (she couldn't watch the final play). Before I knew it, my Springer Spaniel was humping my leg in joy, my Irish Setter named Kirkwood started barking (pretty sure he was saying "Suck it Kentucky") and my 1/2 year old was scared that daddy lost his mind. Best. Day. Ever.
Seriously. Of all the videos I've watched (at least 100) this video is the only one I can watch 5+ times and still get chills every time. What an amazing moment in history. The whole situation involving the game - NCAA sanctions, the last three years of struggles, and UK bringing in a super talented team that most people expected to dominate the game - made it that much more incredible and special. I'm so glad I was able to be there. Thanks so much for this video, it's fantastically well-done.
The fact that I was there for the end of the Knight era (as we all know, coach's time didn't end well), I can say with pride that our Hoosiers are back. Thank you to the person who posted this compilation, as someone said earlier, it never gets old. I cannot wait for Friday.
Always think of my dad when seeing vids of this game. He had just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a week before this game yet I still think it was one of the greatest moments of his life. Just glad I went over to his house that night to watch it with him. I lost him but will never lose this great memory.
My fave video - sums it all up - and includes all the excitement in some of the best places! I would've loved to still be a student during this game - those were the best days of my life!
I cried when it was all over, I lost my best friend last year who was a huge IU fan as well. It meant so much to me. He always said IU's basketball program would be back this year and we would win a national title next year, if not this year too. Even if we don't, this game was a great moment in my life and I will never forget it. RIP Clint McCarter
As a UK fan I give IU props for that game. That wanted the game and deserved to win. We all under estimated Indiana and believe it or not I am glad IU is back cause college hoops as a whole is better when a storied program such as IU is good. Our only loss this year. Not bad
Nicely done!! Again, the celebration was an (like it or not) homage to what Coach Knight started all those years ago. Like many others have shared, this video gives me goose bumps not so much for IU BB but for the pure joy that all these people shared at the same moment in their lives.
Great job on the video, bro. I was at working watching this game and I nearly ran through the whole building screaming my head off when that shot went in. Certainly, one of the best nights I will ever remember.
I'm a Kentucky fan and I was happy for Crean & the Hoosiers.. it was a heck of a game with an unforgettable ending. I think I was the only one in the crowd at my house who wasn't upset after the game, lol.
Nice win for the hoosiers. Everybody wants to beat Ky. Nothing like being a cat fan. But it is cool to see other fans act as crazy as we do with our basketball !!! Nice touch with the Hoosiers music.
I was at home I lost my mind when That shot went in my blue heeler nipped me on the leg he didn’t know what to do he thought I lost my mind which I did. One of my favorite moments in Hoosier history
i was just gonna watch a few classic ncaa clips before going to bed...now i feel a strong urge to watch the movie 'Hoosiers'...thanks watford...look what you made me do...
honestly, i get teary eyed every freakin time i watch this lol... not even kidding, i could watch this a million trillion quadrillion times, and it still wouldn't get old :)
I am a huge UK fan, have been since i was a little boy, but i must say i was proud of IU when they pulled off that upset, i was happy for them, and they deserved it, that was one of the most memorable ball games i can remember and i watched the laetner shot when i was 6 lol.
Pretty cool. I am glad you guys are back...watching March Madness with my dad is my favorite past-times. Also, going to games at Allen Field House with him. Basketball has missed you. While I don't like Kentucky very much...out of all the Blue Bloods (besides Kansas :) ...You guys seem the most wholesome and family oriented bunch. Final Four next year? Hell, this year?
I know others will disagree with me but I thought Tom Crean was a pretty good coach. The way he substituted was a little different for sure but I still liked him.
Would like to see someone gather up more videos from around the world and stitch them all together. there are IU groups all over the country and overseas. Massive fan base
pure genius, i was watching this with my grandpa in his tv room, (were huge ND fans) but were pulling for IU, cuz I hate Kentucky, (Watford for the win??, YESSS, YESSSS). I jumped up and down and hugged him like no tomorrow, knowing that IU was back, thanks for the video and another great memory,...sincerely, a Hoosier at heart from South Bend!
Not an IU fan....Buckeyes for me, but that was one of the great moments in sports that gives me chills when I watch. Great job in your resurgence Hoosiers and we will be looking forward to many great B10 battles.
I will never forget the ESPN camera shot of a stunned coach Tom Crean after the winning basketball was scored and ESPN putting up the winning points on the Kentucky side of the scoreboard line. For seven seconds, it looked like UK won 75-70.
My Guy, That was moving extremely moving. Sports especially college sports seem to move people to celebrate to no end. I was not at the game that night I am no where close to Indiana in the least bit. I was watching the game here in my home and I cried when he hit that shot. The pure adrenaline of IU staying close made me stay tuned, but for a program that has fought so hard and been so down for so long IU deserved that win. The fans deserved that win. The state of Indiana deserved that win.
@kahminggg It is great that you took the time to watch, even though by your use of the term "match" it is clear that you are not from the US (in bball it's a game). I love that you have embraced bball, and maybe will even become an IU fan! To answer your question, it is just a "normal" game, as normal as a rivalry of such magnitude can be. This is only the 9 game of the season, and it is before the conference schedule even starts. So not the finals, but definitely not normal.
Huge, Purdue fan but still went crazy when he hit that shot... come on the knocked off the #1 team in the country, that is worth celebrating. BTW GO BOILERS
