- Chopped & Canopied Suzuki Jimny | Rig Build
-
The rig build you have all been waiting for - The Little Rig.
A chopped, canopied, full legal 2019 Suzuki Jimny JB74.
What makes this different from other chopped Jimny's?
This rig can go from tourer to ultimate wall crawler with the removal XTR Tray and Canopy from DMW.
Launched at the Brisbane 4x4 Show in 2023 this beast has been the brainchild of Darren for over 3 years. After what is now a happy accident, The Little Rig suffered panel damage at the base of Little Red.
He had to make a choice - write-off the car, or chop.
After meeting Reuben from @dirtymuddyweekends Darren worked with the crew to create this one of a kind Jimny that is one of the most capable 4WD's in the country. Alongside Australia's best off-road brands Darren has pulled together something special. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Truly is the ultimate mini tourer, and the ultimate Jimny!!
Thankyou 😊
I really want to see this little beast in full action on extreme offroad trails...
Oh man I own a troopy for fulltime touring but this mini tourer is so unique and awesome haha, probably cost an arm and leg but hey, if you got money for it then go for it. I reckon this could be a big thing in terms of aftermarket accessories similar to the Landcruisers, especially in Australia. Great build man.
best car i have seen in a long time
Thankyou so much 😊
Cool it’s fantastic congrats😎
what a beauty cheers mate, such an inspiration
Man. That is fantastic.
Very cool.
Sick!!
Cheers! 😊
This is one of the best I’ve seen on any off-roader. Question I have is suspension upgrade and how you manage the death wobble which mine has after 4 years, running just a 2 inch lift with Tough dog foam cell and slightly heavier spring in the rear for towing. I managed to sort the death wobble with new shim stack for King Pins from Big Jimny, but still is not perfect, front end feels light and deflect at slow speed. I don’t think when they did my lift in 2019 that they got the castor correct, which may be reason for the front end issue. Also Tried low tyre pressure which helps a little but not perfect. I run arb Air Lockers front and rear which is awesome to have. Anyways if you got some obvious suggestions let me know and can recommend a good place to get the work done be great as I’ve lost my confidence in some of the places I’ve been to that have done shoddy work. Do most myself now.
Cheers, Brisbane local
this and a offroad teardrop is perfect
Nice nice!! Now to save up enough to give Kerrmit the chop. 😅 seriously love your setup Darren!
Thankyou so much Christie 😊
Awesome video Darren it’s definitely has turned out epic Jimny. One thing I do like about it it’s quick and easy to take the canopy off . Which is a great idea drop that off and leave it setup for camping and to be able to hit the tracks.then come back and you have your camp spot already set up.
Thankyou Jeremy 😊 Yep that’s exactly why I went this way. Nailed it mate 🙌🏼
@@TheLittleRig Amazing what you have achieved, l assume the tent can be used when the rear box is off the vehicle. One thing l think people would be interested in seeing is the crawl speed with the new transfer ratios installed on the flat and maybe descending a steep hill in low first. A vehicle like your superb Jimny would be wasted here in England because of the crap weather !!!
@@clooperman3745Thankyou mate 😊 Yea the canopy sits on its own legs and the tent is fully operational along with the awning, kitchen etc when it’s standing on its own 😊
I’ll see what can do re the crawler gear video!!
Second hand K truck from Japan could be a great option
I think missed it if ever you mentioned it, but did you change anything for the engine? Or it's stock? Thanks!
Where did you get the bonnet light brackets from
Great job mate- it looks great, however with all that weight on that small engine how do it go ?
I've been waiting for this and what a tourer, rock crawler and anything else you can over, can you touch a bit the suspension and did you meet your GVM or did you get an upgrade, what size are those monster tyres and the guard flares and protection really make this a weapon
Thankyou mate 😊 Yes it’s gvm upgraded and engineered on 33” tyres 😊 Also fitted with rear airbags for when the canopy is on.
What size tyres and suspension are u running
Yep I like it 😁
Do you have a cost for total build?
Thankyou mate 😊
I haven’t worked out the exact costing. I prefer not to think about it 😅 a heap of time and money has gone into the drivetrain and suspension to handle the large tyres…. I dunno… including the car, probably upwards of $115k
How much did it cost to do the custom build?
how much does it cost to do this kind of build?
Why cant they sell this actually and in the usa?
What does it weigh and what’s the gvm
Empty, the tray and canopy is only 10kg heavier than what was chopped off. The car is GVM upgraded to about 1800kg but it’s nowhere near that, even loaded up 😊
ТРАУРНИЙ капот.
Looks like less storage space than the original configuration. Did these mods cost 3 times the price of the original price…… Nothing against it, everyone can do what they like with their own money etc just interested in the cost.
Nah actually soooo much more space. Everyone (jimny peeps) that’s seen it all agree there’s way more space. Maybe just deceptive on camera.
