    I work in a beauty store on Skincare (my main brand is La Mer 👀) and La Mer customers are usually older people who just think about the brand as something luxurious and they love some products. In my opinion the brand should invest more in developing some new formulas, etc. The best dupe I've tried so far is Heimish Marine Care Melting Cream - ingredients and texture wise is absolutely amazing!

      The skin texture of the body is much thicker than the face.. Using a product that is formulated for the body on your face, it will cause the pores to sofacate, therefore the Collagen and Elastin fibers on you facial area will be compromised causing those fibers to degrade and make the skin older..Don't do it, use the proper skin care products on your face.

    I heard all the hype about La Mer cream so I thought I’d give it a try. Well not with my own money I went into a high-end store and asked if I could have a sample and they kindly gave it to me (they were quite generous also). So I got my fix and I tried it. I even slathered myself with it in the store, but there’s no way that I’m going to part with $600. My background is European, and my grandmother only ever applied Nivea cream to her face and hands. When she died in her late 80s, her skin was impeccable. Ladies don’t buy into all the hype and the brands and feel like you have to keep up with everyone. Be sensible,do what works for you and have realistic expectations. Remember you are all beautiful and the only person you should compare yourself to is yourself. Try to be better, do better every day.

    I tried a sample of La Mer. It lasted about 6 weeks and it made my skin feel very soft, but didn't appear any better. I tried Nivea as a dupe and it moisturised well but irritated my skin. La Mer is the type of cream that would impress somebody who has never used a face cream, doesn't know anything about skincare and thinks the more you spend, the better quality you get. And that's basically their target market summed up!

      I hate to say this but I’ve tried both cheap and expensive ones but La Mer intense cream is the best so far. Made my face plump and radiant. I’m surprised cause I have oily combo acne prone skin but I didn’t break out. I only buy if it’s 20% off at Sephora. Please don’t generalize. Just because it doesn’t work for you means it’s the same for everyone and that we are just dumbos on skin care. It’s the best one I’ve tried so far so I’ll keep using it as long as I can also afford it.

    I forked out on a big jar of La Mer, and the worst thing is; I'm really liking the cream and my skin looks fantastic since the switch over. My skin is looking nourished, glowing and healthy - and super soft to the touch. I have tried various creams in the past but La Mer is definitely the front runner, at least for me anyway. Any left over from the face application goes on to my hands, and my hands are now looking the best they ever have. I'm 100% hooked.

      The best creams I ever tried were $120 (Tatcha the Silk Cream), $260 (Sulwhasoo Ginseng Renewing Cream) and $450 (AmorePacific Time Response Intensive Creme).
      These were all absolutely amazing, and each for different reasons, however the only one I rebought was the The Silk Cream.
      Because honestly while these luxury products were really good, I didn’t think they were worth the massive increase in price.
      I think there’s a significant increase in quality from a lot of drugstore ($20 and below) creams but once you enter the $40-$120 range, the quality doesn’t really scale with price.
      As someone who spent more money than necessary on luxury products I do believe they’re ultimately overhyped.
      If I were to recommend a more affordable Cream, I’d probably go with the new Laneige water bank ($40), but there are a lot of good mid range options.

    I heard from Dr Shareene Idriss that’s “unscented” and “fragrance free” do not mean the same thing. Because “unscented” can still have fragrance which masks the fragrance of the original formulation. If I’m wrong please correct me!!

    • @faithalba18
      @faithalba18 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Was jus thinkin this!

    • @beemofan1
      @beemofan1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can help! The issue with the terms "unscented" and "fragrance-free" is that they're not regulated. This means that neither term has an official definition, so just because a product uses either term does not necessarily mean there is any standard definition to what extent fragrance and fragrant ingredients are included in a formulation. Because of this, I've observed in the skincare industry that sometimes, "fragrance-free" and "unscented" are used interchangeably due to their similar meanings. Therefore, "unscented" could mean a product has no fragrant ingredients while "fragrance-free" could convey that a product has no specific scent but doesn't truly exclude fragrant ingredients.
      Based only my personal observation, usually, when brands market a product as "fragrance-free," they deliberately exclude fragrant ingredients. In my opinion, this is different from "unscented" because "unscented" literally means there's no smell, so for me, "unscented" doesn't have a connotation of actively excluding fragrant ingredients.
      At the end of the day, regardless of each term's connotation, neither term is regulated, so there's no universal rule for how each brand is using its term of choice. The only surefire way to know is to ask the brand how it defines the term for the labeled product in question.

    I’ve used La Mer and I really don’t get why they say Nivea is a dupe. It’s not. Not even close. I will try one of these though. La Mer is a dream, I was gifted a .5 oz and I loved it. Haven’t found something comparable yet so we will see.

    I eat Kelp, I use it in my soup on a weekly basis ... we ate it growing up back home. I grew up on Sakhalin, it is the largest island of Russia, north of the Japanese archipelago. The Jananese love kelp and we shared the waters. Its dirt cheap

    If you want the beauty benefits if giant kelp, the best way to start is to eat it. There's a few companies making kelp pickles nowadays, and they taste pretty cool. I noticed the seaweed body cream had kukui nut oil too! That stuff comes from Hawaii and Malaysia/Polynesia. They are very moisturizing and give money to those parts of the world.

    I found out about La Mer while searching for a new cream online, before I knew how hyped it was. I have problematic skin and noticed that more expensive actually does mean better for me personally (I use brands like Elemis and Medik8, for example, while superdrug skincare gives me breakouts), so I really wanted to try La Mer because of curiosity. I though it must be a pure magic for that price, although we all know price does not always mean quality. Would never buy because of its cruelty free status tho, so thank you very much for cruelty free dupes recommendations!

    I honestly think that some people feel better about themselves for the only sake of consuming expensive things. It makes them feel exclusive. Also, I think rich people get sometimes scammed just because of this. They assume they are getting something over the top just because the price is over the top without even comparing with other options.

      I hate the fact that my face loves La mer too.Yes a little goes a long way. If i have to spend a 100.00 on it every ninety days i will. I'll be purchasing the 1 oz when i use all of the .5 that i have. I'm glad i tried it. The proof is in the jar!! I'm loving my skin. I'm sensitive but this hasn't affected my skin at all, it's only made it more youthful looking, soft, and plump. I apply both night and morning. I have nothing bad to say about it just wish it was more affordable!!

    Celebrities are so superficial, they follow trends, buy things because, first they have tons of money, second, they want to be accepted in the high status society so if a millionaire buys a cream I'm going to do it because I want my followers to see how rich I am (not caring about the ingredients or what the product actually does), and us "the sheeple", the non-rich people, we believe them and suffer for not having 360 bucks to splurge on an overpriced cream. I'm def with you Cassandra, we have to stop normalizing this consumerism of status.

    So... I, more than anyone in the world probably, want to use good company, clean products. I agree that the ingredients in Lamer are not special or clean and it is ridiculously priced- I dont get it. However, I suffer from extreme eczema and dermatitis, and for some reason, Lamer is the only cream that has been able to get rid of my skin problems. Yes, I have tried everything! Every dupe you've listed, I've already tried! So... there is something to it. And it is in glass bottles. I would love to see someone who has the time actually figure out why. Trust me, people aren't buying it for lack of knowledge or trying other things. I would love to find a clean respectable company product that takes care of my skin.

    I would never use La Mer, I worked for Elemis for many years and love there products! Regarding the more luxurious face cream you recommend, it has Isopropyl myristate, I always thought this was not good for a acne prone skin as there is a high chance of clogging the pores. Also thought not that great! What do you think Cassandra? Love your channel! You have beautiful energy! Love Vicky

    Woman, La Mer is not selling a cream. It's selling status.
    Apple doesn't sell phones. It sells status.
    Tesla doesn't sell cars. It sells status.

    • @Justanothermusicnerdxo
      @Justanothermusicnerdxo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tbh I don’t necessarily agree. Sure some people buy due to status but I have an iPhone and I don’t care about the brand, they last forever, they work well, and they’re easy to use while being visually enjoyable. I can’t say the same for all smartphones.
      My brother in law has a Tesla, not for the status but because the tech inside the car is extremely advanced and he believes electric cars are greener.
      While I don’t know anyone who uses La Mer, I imagine there are plenty of people who choose it because it works the best for them and they have the money.

    (PS: it took me way too long to realize I'm allergic to aloe and I always just thought my sunburns were "worse than I realized" when I put aloe on them lol also! I wear sunscreen religiously but a burn will still sneak in occasionally)
